[PHYSICAL COPY] $35 Wings of Liberty $39 Heart of the Swarm from EBGames

50

I am aware that we can get digital copy for around $39 with the following trick
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/95621

I am also aware that we could get Wings of Liberty for $29 (not anymore) from JBHifi and $10 (if you were really really lucky) from Dicksmith

This deal is for those who really want to get hold of physical copy.

I went to EBgames today to get

  1. Wings of Liberty for $35
-> this is one of their 2-for-$70 titles, at first they insisted that I must get another 2-for-$70 game, but at the end, they agreed that I could just get one for $35

  2. Heart of the Swarm for $39
-> they are selling for $49, I said that I could get from Harvey Norman for $39, and they agreed to price match

As soon as they agreed, I went to Coles to buy 2 x $40 EBGame cards with my ING paywave to save 5%….

The young lady at the counter:
"I used to play Terran. After I bought the expansion, I switched to Zerg. Zerg is so cool".

    • I bet she is a 6 ling rusher.

    • And after legacy of the void, she switched to Protoss. Zeratul is just kick ass.

      • hahaha i actually know the chick who served the OP lol

  • I don't think price matching counts as a bargain? (i'm sure i've seen people say that before)
Also, i didn't know Coles sold EB vouchers. Good to know since i also have a ING card

    • Normal price for (physical copy) Wings of Liberty:
$58-$59 from Dick, Hardly Norman and JBHifi
-> this deal informs you that Ebgames is selling for $35

Normal price for (physical copy) Heart of Swarm:
$44-$49 from EBgames, JBHifi and Dick
-> this deal informs you that Hardly Normal is selling for $39 (buy online with WELCOME5 and pick up in store)

This deal also saves you time/money by buying them all from EBGames with EBGames giftcard with ING

          sodo no shirakyuki

  • Not all EB Games can do this deal, 2 for $70 started from 28/03, I tried in 2 EB Games in Sydney to ask for the deal (Wings of Liberty $35 + Heart of the Swarm $40), but no luck

    • Come to North Shore then…
It has the added bonus that the chick at the counter actually plays SC2

By the way the physical copy is useless unless you're installing from scratch.

    • What do you mean by useless?

Even if you do not use the DVD, it is still good for being a tea/coffee coaster.
And also for verification for lost password, Blizzard will happily use physical game key for verification, digital game key will not be accepted.

You will see the following when you reset your battle.net account's password

        Choose Verification Method:

The first six characters of the game key registered to this Battle.net account for one of the following titles (or any of their expansions): World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III. You must use the game key from a physical copy. Keys from digital purchases and upgrades will not work.

-> this is one more advantage for physical copy vs digital copy

      • Ok well I was expecting that the physical DVD to be used to install so I don't use bandwidth. Blizzard took that choice away from me.

Also I don't forget my password AND email login very often to necessitate physical game key verification so that point is moot to me. To reiterate, the physical copy was completely useless to me.
