Where to buy BULK 1, 2 or 4GB USB drives on the cheap?

Speed not relevant at all and they'll only store about 50MB in files. I need these to issue out to students at work. And by bulk I'm mean dozens at least, and if all goes well with a contract I'm tendering for, that number could go right up into the hundreds.

I know eventual sales come along but the waiting game isn't a luxury I'll always have. Not to mention they often carry a maximum purchase per customer limitation, such as these $2 ones from Flingshot for example :)

  • Could buy bulk from Aliexpress…

    • Yeah I was looking at them earlier. Is it reliable? I've always seen it around but never used it before.

      • Aliexpress is pretty much the same as buying from the sellers from Hong Kong on eBay - as in, they're the same sellers, there just isn't a minimum price of 99c to BIN like on eBay and you can easily buy in bulk at quite low prices.

So generally safe to buy from, the sellers are usually more than happy to answer questions or help out if you have issues with their products.

  • just interested in where you ended up getting a good bulk deal from???

    • I havent bought any yet, had a few offers but nothing solid. I'm thinking of trying my luck with the aliexpress. There are some ugly looking doll USB here: (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dole-cute-cat-face-a-variety-…) 50 for $65 ($1.30ea) and claim to be 2-4GB but based on the other cheapies there it's probably a lot lower. I only need about 50MB to store so hopefully they can manage that.

I'd prefer something more normal looking but the price is right, I'll just put a humorous spin on it to cover up my cheapskate truth.

      • Scratch that, didn't work out.

  • Wow, I just came to post the exact same question, as I need many for handing out to clients at work. Subscribed.

  • Also interested.

    • Okay an update:
I haven't ordered any yet but will order these soon.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50PCS-128MB-USB-Memory-Flash-Driv…

It's 50 x 128MB drives. Yes very low capacity but ample for my needs. I did make an offer of $103 USD to get the price down to $2 AUD each but he rejected that and counter-offered with $124 USD. That's roughly $2.38 each (Australian) which is about as good as I can find unless I went to Alibaba and Aliexpress but neither officially accept Paypal and I had a bad experience with one seller spamming my email account hard after a simple price enquiry, so I'd prefer avoiding them for the time being. They're certainly the way to go for larger volume orders though it would seem.

The only other option available is if any OzB's wanted to organise a Group Buy sometime. Maybe something worth discussing in the Group Buy forums…
