It depends. Many Gift Card purchases don't include GST. You pay GST at the point the GC is redeemed, not when it is purchased.

The ads are from the FTA providers, not Apple. As is their login requirements. This is a one off process regardless.

Local retailers are the same price but include GST, so for most businesses it will be cheaper to buy local (plus easier warranty etc)
