I'd get this + a 10" tablet instead of an in the middle Note.
Sorry to be a bit OT, but I watch movies/tv shows on my commute into work so that's why the Note 2 would fit my needs and would rather not have to carry two devices around when hopefully one would do the trick!

I agree with you in opting for bigger phone rather than 'phone plus tablet'. I would especially want the tablet for travel and so I know I would feel frustrated not having GPS in it and not being able to make calls from it. (given the high cost of 3G tablets plus the cost of extra data plan.) Big phone seems to be the way to go.
So if you're considering these phones why not consider a heavily discounted Note 1??
I would consider it although the thought hadn't crossed my mind before.
Only real reservation I have would be purchasing something fairly out of date and dont ever want to experience lag like I currently am on my 3 month old Xperia sola.
Oh and plus I'm now with vaya so wouldn't mind getting a 4g capable phone
only negative is the note is so bloody huge to use as a phone(especially if you use your phone as a phone a lot - did i really just write that?), unless your into a wide handed grip
