  • I thought the Nexus 4 was suppose to be cheaper but better than the Galaxy S3?

    • +4

i'm pretty sure its cheaper than aus stock.

Kogan has nexus 4 for $379 free shipping until midnight but maybe not as easy for warranty compared to B&M store in aus?

      • -6

It wont be easy for a phone warranty anyway. They can always say there is liquid inside or personal damage so you need to pay even you still have warranty. The only good experience warranty wise is with apple, they just exchange it for you with a refurnished one.

  • Just off the top of my head, it is listed cheaper at $379 with free shipping today from Kogan.

    • Ture but i want a proper tax invoice to salary sacrifice and thought would help some looking for the same

      • What is the difference between a Kogan tax invoice and a proper tax invoice?

I struggle to see how 'same price as google store' is a bargain. What am I missing?

    • Convenience is not necessarily a bargain I agree :)

    • +22

The real bargain would be the Google Store option because Gerry Harvey doesn't get a cent of your money.

      • -2

Because Google employs more people in Australia than Gerry Harvey? Is that the reason? I can't see why your comment get so many + votes. If Harvey Norman is price competitive and continues to employ thousands of Australians. I am all for supporting them over the likes of Google Inc.

I wouldn't buy the phone anyway. I would much prefer the S3 with the microSD slot.

        • +10

Don't try and make intelligent points. People here don't like Harvey Norman to the point where their brains stop functioning when it comes up.

        • +3

it's because we all hate Gerry

        • +3

          That's because Gerry hates us!

        • +3

You can defend him all you want, but he'll still have a bitch at the EOFY about how he could've made so much more money if only people would buy his crap at over-inflated prices, instead of shopping around…

        • +2

I'm not defending him. I think hes stuck in the 90s and his attitude is "I am not going to change for the world, the world will change for me" and unfortunately in a global market, he becomes a small fish in a very big pond.

Having said that, if there is a deal there, I will take it up because I am a consumer trying to get the best deal for me, I am not shopping at his stores to makes friends or receive warm hugs.

  • +3

While the deal itself is not particularly exciting it is great news that Nexus 4 is now available at retailers. That should mean some price competition in the near future. About time it drops below the price of the S3 again :-)

    • Nexus 4 has been at HN since around late Feb/early March, when the Nexus 4 came back into stock on Google Play. However, it was priced at a couple hundred more than the Google Play's price. I guess Harvey has gouged enough in a last couple of month.

      EDIT: found the original post

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91770

and it was Feb 1 when HN had stock and were selling at 496.

  • +5

Same price as the normal price is not a bargain, defeats the purpose of this website!

  • -6

I remembered that it should be $199 in USA…..

    • That's the Nexus 7.

  • +1

Why would anyone but this instead of the LG Optimus G for $388?

    • +2

I believe the Optimus G is not available online for that price anymore. Some JB stores do not offer it unless you get a $60 Telstra SIM.

Still, it is a good price if you get the Optimus at $448. At least you support local retailers. Two weeks ago I ordered from google store a nexus 4 and it was shipped from Hong kong. Had the nexus 4 been the same price at Harvey then I would have bought from them just to support local jobs.

      • But Harvey hates the ozbargain professionals

    • LG are also very slow in updating their phones, if they even update it at all.

      • Doesn't matter for the nexus device though

        • +1

Yea I know, but I probably wasn't very clear. I was saying a big advantage that the Nexus 4 has is that it won't take a long time for it to be updated, which would be the main reason someone would buy this phone over the Optimus G.

    • +1

Why would anyone but this instead of the LG Optimus G for $388?

Because it's LG… and they suck. Dont buy either ;).

      • nexus 4 is made by LG as well.

        • +2

uh that's why he said don't buy either?

  • -2
    • You forgot shipping of $19.

  • -4

No deal,i used this phone for few months and then resold for 275$, that guy was lucky :)

    • -6

Not worth 400$ for this phone

      • +1

why is it not worth $400? elaborate please.

    • Welcome to Android, barely any droid phones hold their full RRP.

    • A user here sold theirs for $300… sounds like you need to work on your selling skills!

      • well, I am just honest with price, so, there is nothing to do with my selling skills, actually I am a best seller on eBay ;)

        • +1

Actually, the seller didnt even use any 'selling' techniques, buyer offered $300 straight up
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101862

          Best seller on ebay?

        • Guess it sounded more believable than 'best seller IN. THE. WORLD."

  • Are they really up to version 4 already? I thought Apple were quick to release and supersede….

    • Google didn't make a nexus 4g or nexus 4gs

  • +4

15 positive votes so far for a standard price. Ozadvertising or ozbargain?

  • I think they are releasing a new Nexus next week (15th), not sure if it's a new phone or just a 32gb version though.

But still, this is very good phone

  • +4

    OzRRP strikes again

  • +5

Why not wait 10 days until google I/O for nexus5

  • Not a deal. Higher than rrp

    • RRP is $419. So the price is not higher, it is RRP

      • Still, it's not a deal.

  • OP, first post and first comment. GH is that you?

  • +1

Good deal, I guess it's easier to go to a HN store and buy it straight away, compared to waiting a few days for shipping from the play store.
