  • Q: So this is like Universal Nutrition's version of ON Opti-men?

I use ON Opti-men as a daily vitamin supplement.. I find one everyday (not 1 serving, which is 3!) is enough to counteract the draining effects of caffeine tablets + little sleep.

    • i think its more like Orange Triad . Im currently using it and its great

  • This is a multivitamin, although a lot of the ingredients & servings are geared towards bodybuilders but regardless, still good to take and a good price. If you are looking for an everyday multivitamin, Animal Pak is good for the current price, keep in mind, that a 'Pak' is IIRC about 8 tablets? Otherwise i would recommend (and plenty of others for that matter) Controlled Lab's Orange Triad.

    • Orange Triad is 6 tabs a day

      • +1

It is just a recommended dosage yes, but for the average being that doesn't weightlift (Orange Triad is catered towards those who weightlift as it has a much sought after joint complex formula) 4 even 2 tablets a day is enough. The Animal Pak recommended dosage is 2 paks a day, that will only last 22 days. Orange Triad has 270 tablets and is MUCH cheaper. Made by bodybuilders, for bodybuilders (or anyone that is looking for a great multivitamin for that matter).

Also, Orange Triad derives its minerals and ingredients from much better sources, a lot of mainstream multivitamins (Animal Pak, Opti-Men etc) take it from cheaper sources and mark it up much more due to brand value.

    • I currently use Orange Triad but I read somewhere it was now banned in Australia due to the selenium content. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

      • +1

Yep, but I think it's still pretty easy to get (bb.com still ships I think)

        • You are correct, the AU BB.com store is willing to send it still.

      • nope got mine last week from iherb.

      • nope got mine Orange Triad last week from iherb.

  • The normal price is around $25 from Vitacost, so not much of a saving here. Ah the days when we had $3 shipping.

  • I tried ordering two Paks and used the voucher, and shipping is ~$20!! Am I doing something wrong?

    • +1

Yes, the shipping will increase when your cart weight exceeds 3.4lb.
Listed weight for this item is 1.79lb

    • true, you could possibly add some vitamins or supplements to make total add up to $30

  • Jesus that's a lot of Vitamin A.

I thought it wasn't safe to exceed the daily IU of vitamin A due to its toxicity.

Edit: The vitamin A is in pre-cursor form (also plant-based, not animal based), so it won't be dangerous.

Also why the <MOD Removed foul language> do you need 9000% IU for vitamin B6?

    • as Darkilluzion pointed out above:

This is a multivitamin, although a lot of the ingredients & servings are geared towards bodybuilders but regardless, still good to take and a good price.

      • Yeah I read your comments.

I still don't understand why it's necessary to have 9000% IU of B6 or its pre-cursor, there is noway you could every utilize or synthesize enough B6 to make those numbers necessary.

According to Australian Accredited Nutritionist, Glenn Cardwell, “Vitamin B6 intake needs increase with age and during pregnancy and lactation."

“We know that excess B6 from supplements can be a problem, which was last seen in the 1980s when women took large doses of vitamin B6 for pre-menstrual tension (PMT)."

“…adequate B6 naturally from food is the way to get enough of a 'natural' amount of B6 without the symptoms of excess, and possibly the best source is bananas,” says Cardwell."

        Furthermore:

"Most people who don't eat a vegetarian diet get enough vitamin B6 in their diet without supplementing. The best sources of this vitamin are liver, cod, tuna, chicken, and salmon. Vegetarians can get vitamin B6 from split peas, wheat germ, bananas, and avocados. There was a time when vitamin B6 supplements were used to treat pre-menstrual syndrome, but this practice has fallen by the wayside because of the risk of B6 toxicity." - The Nutritionist. Robert Wildman R.D. PhD. 2002

I don't debate that bodybuilders need more vitamins than average folks, but some of these numbers seem psychotic and dangerous.
