  • Plus $17 booking and service fee?

    • +1

      direct deposit, $0 fee

  • managed to get melb -> perth for 2 for $37, that booking fee is kinda over the top tho

    • Direct debit $0

      • i didnt see any option for DD o.O
/edit Aww crap, seems like the DD was only not available on the mobile booking site. Ohwell, still pretty cheap

    • If you have a debit card you can use that and it'll take the booking fee off when you've actually processed the payment with the debit card

  • -1

Finally got through with the booknow link, except they wont allow me to direct deposit…

Sorry, we are unable to reserve the selected flight(s) at this time. Please return to the Flight Select page and choose another flight(s).

  • [1018:ClassNotAvailable] Sorry, we are unable to reserve the selected flight(s) at this time. Please return to the Flight Select page and choose another flight(s).

    So close, yet so far…

BTW they appear to give 48 hours for a direct deposit - not as easy on a weekend…

    • "Payment must be made within 48 hours to reach Jetstar within the allowable time period of 3 business days."

I got the above in the email confirmation

    • +1

Well, i don't think the weekend counts..

    • weekend doesn't count :) thats the awesome thing about it.. u just have to make the deposit within 48 hours and jetstar will give it 3 working days to wait till the payment gets to them. i always do it this way.

  • Won't load unfortunately.

    Jetstar = Qantas = JOKE!!!! I'd rather walk….

  • Bne to Syd in Feb booked. I reckon joining the Jetstar club a couple of weeks ago may have helped. (I logged in) The options I saw for Direct Deposit were POLI and Paypal. Don't know much about either which do Ozbargainers prefer?

    • LOGIN (with fb/windows live etc.) and use normal flight search and you wont crash out For anyone still trying.
I used direct deposit <—hell no to the extra $17pp… hope i didnt copy the details wrong =/

Just using the name JETSTAR is misleading. It's like having a vegie shop called 'Freshness First' but just selling any old rubbish and not at all fulfilling the suggestive power in your brand name. Further, using Magda on the launch ads was just offputting. Yuck@Magda.

Welcome to Capitalism, where the latest trick is MISLEADING BRANDNAMES and HIDDEN FEES galore! Then we can actually offer things FREE (plus costs, credit card fees, handling, transfers, baggage fee etc).

    • fatties!

  • Didn't work for me. Chose the correct details and dates, prices were all 69 and over…

  • Thanks all Guys
    real sweet
    it did work for me
    yyyyyyyaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy
had to book twice ,flight cost is 10$ plus 8.50 booking fee
    Cheers

  • Well just before it hit 6PM, I managed to get a flight to the GC (no return flight), only way I could get it to work was to pay via CC for $18.50 - still a bargain.

  • I managed to score Melb-Gold Coast return Feb 18-22

    $20 all up via POLI

    Thanks!

  • Finally managed flight MEL-OOL March next year and oneway to Syd in Oct, now the hunt for cheap SYD-MEL fare in Oct is on. Just lucky that I had my jetstar account handy in this case, otherwise normal booking just crashed.

  • Jesus H Christ. After 1 1/2 hours i've only just gotten in & out of Cairns, but it ain't return - bouncing around the country. May need to catch a 1000km bus to get home in time. Wodeva.

Direct deposit is the way to go, as wasn't clear i had the whole show triangulated till the end.

Thanks to the OP & jonbob.

  • Got in, Live in Perth, need tickets for the MotoGP in Melbourne 2 Adults 2 Kids.
All looked fine, a few crashes, No Direct deposit option on mobile, ok so use credit card…….. APPROVED!! Woohoo!

    Get confirmation and realise I booked Mel->Per Per->Mel instead…….

Whoops.. I feel a right D$%#head right now!

    • +1

      It's a sign.

The Lord is saying (a) leave Perth, (b) go to Melbourne, and (c) stay in Melbourne.

      Simple.

  • It looks like all Adelaide - Darwin done.

  • Me now happy. 2 hours later finally got cheap tickets from Gold Coast to Melbourne for a family of 4 :)

  • Was anyone able to get flights from Perth —> Melbs with return? I finally got through and the cheapest flight is now like $139 T_T

    • I booked a retuen trip Melb -> Perth for my friend $20… cant get the exact date as mine though, I booked mine $18 retuen 2 months ago

      • God damnit. I always miss out do you know how often these types of sales are on by any chance?

        • Search OB for old deals - just click on Deals at the end of dealdescription!

  • worst ever, after 1 and a half hour, finally I can choose the seat, then Boom, error, can't refresh, cant go back

    • +1

skip seats, it is $10pp anyway.

      • $5pp for me

  • +2

    It's past 6.00pm. Ain't this show over?

    • No - still selling for me. But not many $10 seats left.

      • Maybe till sold out…

        • Or everyone loses interest!
Live connect operator came on after 6pm.
Flight dates appeared, then disappeared, reappeared, then were gone. Now new dates have been added!!!

  • Thanks OP. Finally scored return Syd>Gold Coast Feb 2014, $20 all up, direct deposit option, using member login and make booking.

  • It would seem that 'Direct Deposit' means internet banking. Didn't know about that bit. Don't want them to have my banking details…

    From the email:
As you have elected to pay using internet banking please-follow the steps below to complete your booking.-Only online Internet banking transfers are accepted by Jetstar (we do not accept transfers made over the counter at bank branches).

    • +1

I have had Jetstars Direct Deposit set up on my internet banking over many years. Simple to transfer. Never had any problems.

    • +1

You don't "give them" your Banking details. Direct Deposit is WAY Safer than Credit Card!!

      • I use Australia Post's pre-paid credit card so i can be who i want to be.

        Don't use internet banking.

        • You can pay by other means (PayPal, CC, POLi = internet banking) by logging into your Jetstar account - manage bookings. (There may be fees!)
You have no bank accounts, that have online banking?
You can transfer over the counter from your bank.

        • It says that can't do it over the counter.

Will use CC if decide to go through with it (assuming i can change payment method online). Total cost would then be $55.50, but the flight times aren't quite right, i'm not there quite as long as i want to be, and i end up in the wrong town for a few days at the end when i should be elsewhere (unless i get a normal fare). Trying to get the right pattern is not easy with these things…

kobrien456, i didn't use POLI - just the 'Direct Debit' option.

        • Should be OK over the counter - you do have a bank account??
You are just transferring money from your bank account to Jetstars - that is normal banking.
Jetstar would not know, as it is done electonically by the bank, instead of you doing it online.

    • Did you do that through POLI?

  • Book now - got straight through. My preferred dates were back on special & gone again now.
Bris-Syd return $20 in November, after the $420 return Japan holiday :))

  • +1

Worked fine for me. I got 3 tickets at about 6:25pm without issues. $10 each. No additional fees. :)

  • waste of an hour… had three times $10 one way and was happy to pay more return
each time it crashed.. then I had a pop up from an online chat so I let them have it.
Australian companies have no idea how to setup there sites not to crash if more then one person uses it.
You wonder how US companies would go as our sale traffic would be like there normal traffic for most.
They just have no idea how to build servers to handle online activity

All it does is make me not want to use jetstar again.

    • So buy now as I did.

    • Same deal here. Loads of times managed to proceed to flight selections, but at least 10 - 15 times crashed after that.

  • +1

It sux to be a teacher. School holidays are never included. Not that teachers can afford to go anywhere anyway lol

    • Wag school! I won't tell.

  • +1

All over now - Sale Page prices have risen.

  • Pathetic cant actually buy a seat so what is the big deal!

  • My previous comment was based on trying for an hour at about 3pm today. Totally shit like many other ozbargain notifications.

    • Was much easier to buy the remains after sale was over, as most had given up.
Even got the dates I wanted, that were not available earlier. Thanks OP.

    • Same as bruce… Saw the post at 3:30 with MELB<->Sydney & MELB<->Hobart ONLY, didn't tempt to get this deal as I've already booked trip to Perth($18) at October and Alice Springs($20) at December.

Then I left home to Safeway @3:45pm and back at @5:15pm, OMGGGGG ! saw "Cairns" and "Perth" for $10!! (Thought Im going to miss the deal for 75mins LATE)

      5:25pm Booked MELB<->Cairns $20 7 days @ November… FINGER-CROSSED. HAPPY

      5:45pm Booked MELB<->Cairns $40 4 days @ March for 2 with a friend…

6:00pm Booked MELB<->Perth $20 @ October for my friend… joining my trip booked from previous $18 return Tiger although different dates both trip

      6:05pm Booked MELB<->Cairns $20 4 days @ February for another friend…

  • Tried to search for airfares this afternoon but the site reported it was busy. Nothing booked and no positive impression left after their aborted sale.

    • You did read the post of how to use their normal booking servers rather than the sale ones?? - got through faster.

      • Sure, both avenues were full of problems.

        • +1

I got absolutely nowhere till jonbob indicated how to get to the other server, then i was fine at least in terms of access - the way fares evaporated before my eyes then became the core issue.

I initially tried both the main & mobile site - same crap.
          Pretty damn frustrating.

BTW I mean nowhere - didn't even get a booking screen to click.

Keep in mind that if the servers worked perfectly, everything would probably be gone within 10min anyway.

        • Dunno guys but this may be where the value of the $39 Jetstar Club join up fee lies? Preferential maybe? It was definitely easier to complete the process as all my info was pre-populated. BTW they sent me 2 $30 vouchers to use in six months (not one). This is good value for us as we love to get over to NZ and Jetstar consistently has $200 ish fares.

        • Once you join online, and login, it pre-populates everything anyway.

But i take your point - maybe they assign club members to a different server. If so, the effective preferential treatment may or may not be intentional.

Haven't paid for mine yet - but i think i will, by CC - fly in Tue, fly out Sat - 3 clear days in Cairns which is just enough time for a decent on-board dive trip. If anyone has any suggestions for operators please let me know as it's been a while since i've been up there. Lot more expensive too. Need about a day out of the water prior to flight out to reduce risk of bending backwards.

  • Tried last night for half an hour, could select the flights but couldn't book them. Gave it up as a bad joke. Received notification of last night's sale in an email this morning at 8am.

Not negging as it seems many did get these bargain flights

    • Yeah dunno whats happened with my email alerts from Jetstar either? Thanks Ozbargain OP. Not sure if I'm using the right language, but might have to set up an RSS feed? or something so alert comes up on my phone re travel bargains. Personally, bit addicted to them. Eg off to Sydney for a week on my own as hubby can't come, friends couldn't commit with 60 mins notice. :0 What to do in Sidders solo for a week in Feb anyone?

  • i was gonna pull the trigger, but adel - darwin would of been a waste of time 1pm departure 3 and a bit hours flight, dinner, bed, get 7.30am flight back… seemed a bit pointless.

  • +1

Sydney to the Gold Coast for lunch in March 2014 returning same day $40 for two. Woohoo.

    • same but im staying the night.
      what dates did you get

    • Gold Coast: Culinary capital of Australia.

  • March 18. Also found that there is a public bus service that is a third of the price of the shuttle bus.

    • im also leaving 18 march but coming back 19th
