  • Unbelievably cheap. Been using once for the last 3+ months and extremely happy with it. Lot of friends have bought one at around $170-200 and all suitably impressed at the value for money. $148 is a new low.

    • Will be lower as new models are coming.

It may fall a little further but we're more likely to see the higher end units fall making the value proposition of this less attractive. I would say the 520 would average $150~ while the 620 is $199 given the 625 is just coming out (but $348 from HN). The 720 is around $299 and the 820 is actually pretty close to that too (as cheap as $269 on special). The 920 might EOL soon and the 925/1020 will remain.

But it's pretty clear there's nothing in the lower end range that will push this to stupidly low prices, and we're only talking $20-25 at the absolute most. In the US it is going on pre-paid for $99 but that is also plus taxes and not unlocked. No one is subsidising this so $150 is pretty close to what we'll get for now :)

  • Unlocked???

    • Says it's outright, which usually means unlocked. Don't quote me though.

    • +1

      Yes. Unlocked and unbranded.

  • OW have dropped their price now so no price match

  • The specs page isn't very detailed. No idea if this is supports 850/900/2100 bands.

Tempted to get this for myself and girlfriend. I've got a HTC Desire HD and she's got a Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) so they're getting a little long in the tooth.

      Is Google down?

      Operating band:
      GSM 850
      GSM 900
      GSM 1800
      WCDMA Band V (850)
      WCDMA Band VIII (900)
      WCDMA Band I (2100)
      WCDMA-RM-915 2100

      • Note, this model doesn't support WCDMA 900MHz. But it will work on Optus 3G if you're in dual-zone coverage (check coverage map).

        • So no good for Vodafone regional?

      • Problem is there are different versions which lack support.

        3G Network
        HSDPA 900 / 2100 - RM-914
        HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - RM-915
        HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - RM-917

    • I have one from HN and it supports 850/1900/2100. RM-915 is the exact model. From Nokia: RM-915, EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900/2100, HSDPA+ Cat 14 (21.1 Mbps), HSUPA Cat 6 (5.76 Mbps)

  • Only problem I see with this phone is the amount of RAM - 512MB would probably exclude it from the next update (Winpho 8.1). But its great for the oldies for the right price.

bought one with $143, using $5 discount code (http://www.buckscoop.com.au/coupons-and-vouchers/harveynorma…)
Note: the code may not work if you log in your HN account, just check out without logging in.

    • WELCOME5?

      • WELCOME5 not working, follow the link above and subscribe to the newsletter, and a code will be sent by email

        • Ok thanks, I've got a code from Harvey that's working anyway (probably a one-time use code)

is this only for online buying?

  • thankyou for sharing i just bought one

  • Same price at OW

  • The only problem I have with this phone is the amount of unnecessary bezel or edge around the screen. I wouldn't mind if the phone was smaller or the screen was larger, I just don't like that I have something large in my pocket that takes up space which isn't being used.

  • FINALLY A CYAN COLOURED PHONE

  • thanks bought one

  • If anyone is interested in the Lumias' navigation capabilities, there is a nice little table which summarises in this article.

  • Here is a possibly useless — or maybe useful — FYI about the 520.
I saw it in the Microsoft store in Arlington, Virginia today. [Like an Apple store, but with bigger Windows. Yuk yuk]. It was US$99, unlocked, no contract, and AT&T branded software was installed, with all the usual apps. Seems like a good price — until you notice that it was LTE enabled. A 4G phone for about A$110 is a pretty good deal!
I reckon that the price of the 520 will come down even further, followed by drops for the 620, 720, 820 and 920. At which point, my credit card will get itchy.
Also had a play with the 1020. I keep telling myself, I.Do.Not.Need.A.New.Phone.

  • I ordered one to be pick-up at Martin Place store but they shipped it out to me. That too with same-day delivery! Excellent service but still weird…

  • Goddamnit! I didn't need a phone. /raging

Bought 1.. because I need a new toy. The will is weak :(

  • For what it's worth, I went to the Broadway (NSW) HN today and they said it was sold out. Onto Officeworks it is.

  • Went to Gold Coast HN today, $148
