    • I imagine that they have been asked by a Rep of the company to do this as it may contravene the original conditions of the vouchers intent. You'll notice that the link to the actual survey is still posted!
Edit: Although I just remembered that the survey has now been suspended!

    • The intention of the voucher is that you are only entitled to it if you take the survey.
Posting the picture of the voucher contravenes this intention.

      • Hence my comment!!!

as it may contravene the original conditions of the vouchers intent.

        • I replied to BlazinPast.

        • Yes you did!!! Apologies!

      • I agree but I could pull out a least a dozen popular deals where people have posted non-facebook links to deals, or direct links to deals that skip surveys. Why suddenly enforce it now? Hence why I said it makes no sense. It's very hypocritical.

        • They normally only do it if someone has brought it to their attention!

        • Like I said, I've seen them in popular deals where at least several moderators would've seen the 'forbidden' links. I just want some clarity so I know what the difference is. I'm not saying it's ethical to do but I've seen it countless times before (where I know mods have seen the links because the deals are so popular) so I'm surprised they didn't let people do it for this deal.

        • Define hypocritical:

professing feelings or virtues one does not have; "hypocritical praise".

Can you justify your criticism? In this case, @Snoop is right — someone from Alibaba complained, and we are reactive with moderation. If you have seen links that should not have been there, please use the Report form to notify the moderators.

          Can you justify your criticism?

          I just stated it:

I could pull out a least a dozen popular deals where people have posted non-facebook links to deals, or direct links to deals that skip surveys

What about people who post non-facebook links on facebook deals? Isn't the point of the promotion to get likes and that using a non-facebook link against the intention?

@Snoop is right — someone from Alibaba complained, and we are reactive with moderation.

Makes sense. If they asked you to take it down then I have no issues.

If you have seen links that should not have been there, please use the Report form to notify the moderators.

Well I've never seen direct links removed before so I've never thought of reporting them. Maybe I'll keep it in mind next time.

  • can someone send it to me ~ I 4got to save it ><"

  • +3

I can't see how they can refuse to honour it. I actually completed the survey myself to get the voucher. Will be very pissed if I am refused.

    • Me too!

    • Likewise… That's why I want to make sure I go down there with it!!!

  • has anyone tried to use the voucher today?

  • -3

Too bad. I think they will violate the law by withdrawing the offer and not respecting people like me who honestly completed the survey.

Can anyone please confirm that they are not honoring it??

  • Yup went to macquarie centre, still works.although they wrote down the generic code that is the same for all vouchers…

    • +1

Got one at Macquarie too, but the choices were limited to beef or lamb.
Anything else incurred extra charge. Not very happy.
The kebab girls said complain to head office.
      First kebab in 48 months.

I received an email from Management (with good faith and sincerity), good to know they can use their membership database, and I am silly enough not to use a different avatar on OzBargain.

I pleaded my case, hopefully they follow through and post on here with their comments.

And did they thank you for the exposure that their company has received by your actions?

      • Yes they did

        • Did they offer you a free kebab for your efforts?

        • Ha, no, just happy I didn't pick up a law suit!

        • I can understand… But there is nothing written on there about reproducing or sharing the offer!
On the brighter side, you got a Popular Deal badge out of it!!!

        • They aren't even letting the deal continue to its duration and they are taking down the PDF print out. Hope they learnt a lesson. Watch the PDF get proliferated in the dark nets.

  • Just tried one at highpoint 2 hours ago. Very average kebab. Might regret it tomorrow.

Yeah I saved the voucher. Probably will hand out about 50 to friends and family! ;)

    • +8

I might print out 500 and hand them out at my local train station lol and then watch alibaba get brodened if they dont honor my voucher

      • +3

That was my thought too. But I expected to get negged to the $#!thouse for saying it!!!

      • lol and if u do this can u do a follow up recording of all those that take it to the nearest ali baba? or get a group of school kids just from school to line up :P lmao

    • good stuff. stick it to da man!

Have you chaps considered that it may not be wise to antagonise a food handler to have a deal honoured?

    You should:

    1) Try to handle it diplomatically,

    2) request that it be assembled under your supervision by a junior employee (not anyone you annoyed. These staff are often more sympathetic with customers and anyone coming to strife with their power tripping "manager") or

    3) feed the food item to your non-human pets.

Best way is to not tell them you have a voucher until after you've had it made!!!

      • LOL I agree. I really don't want Mr Ali's hairy pubes in my free kebab.

  • tried to use it a Liverpool Westfield yesteday, one each for myself and my wife.

The staff lied about not being able to scan the voucher with the same code twice (I saw him made an attempt to 'scan' the first one but at the end pressed some mysterious button on the POS machine to get the 'free kebab' item). I told him the voucher is generic and he made up a lie saying another customer came in yesterday using a voucher with a different code, but he cannot find it (of course he can't). He did nicely suggest us to try redeeming it at another Ali baba though…

For the record we did each do a survey to get the two generic vouchers :)

OUTRAGEOUS! The guy at Ali Baba Victoria Gardens said that you had to be a male 25 years or older! WHERE DID IT STATE THIS?

    • Thanks for posting this, was going to go to that one tomorrow.

You just saved me a trip, now I won't go tomorrow. Or ever again.

      • i know! what a wasted trip! but managed to get a free Big mac in the end anyway. I guess you can always count on the bigger franchises… never going to Ali Baba again!

Mate that sounds like a BS excuse and you got shafted big time.
If you have an aggressive streak you could try and intimidate and force them to make the kebab for you because you are entitled to it or threaten to sue them.
On the other hand, you can be almost guaranteed to get a "tainted kebab" with the lot, plus some "hidden extras". Dog food maybe?
It's all about principle and justice.

      • If you have an aggressive streak you could try and intimidate and force them to make the kebab

What a great idea. I can see you've thought it through.

        • If John Rambo demanded a free kebab would you say no?

  • Anyone tried using this in the last couple of days?

    • Got one today at Macquarie. Pretty awful

    • Yesterday at Warringah Mall, the lady seems the first time saw that and she let me have Chicken not beef or lamb.

  • worked fine for me in canberra
