Thai Airways SYD BKK Return $551.66 on October 2013

770

Similar with the Melb to Delhi promotion, I found SYD to BKK return for a fraction of the normal price. I think usually is around $900 to $1,000.

Booking must be made through multi-city option:

Just sharing.

Thank you.

some will find this deal useful, more than just DEL…

Harpie found Melb - Delhi, why would I even care about claiming such thing? What benefit do I get?
I simply would like to share that there is SYD - BKK deal, I am sure people who saw Harpie's deal would not even think of SYD - BKK flight, there are not the same city.

      Thank you.

    • +4

So what? Supermarket deals are listed every week and then individual deals are reposted by various users. harpie has just listed one individual deal. If other members find different routes and destinations they are welcomed to post them. It makes life easier for fellow members.

      • +2

This is a bit different in that you have to book in a certain way to get the cheap flights which Harpie discovered.

That said, as I have no interest in flights to Delhi I would be completely unaware if this BKK deal had not been posted.

      Jelly you didn't post it?

Tried to look for the same flight but it's back to $1000+ now

you need to do the multi-city booking, more details in the Delhi post.

It looks like it's a bug in the website, so will be interesting to see if they honour it.

Personally I'd print the booking and take it to flight centre for a price match.

      • +1

They will probably still honor the tickets.

EDIT: Missing $346 in fuel surcharge as mentioned below.

I just booked Brisbane - Chiang Mai return for $480, epic deal! thats with a connecting flight in Bangkok both ways

  • Please give a link to the website.

    • Thanks, post updated to reflect link.

  • Did october 10 - 30, got around $460.. wow

  • +2

I've found why it is so cheap, the fuel surcharge (YQ tax) is missing. Looks to be a pricing error, but hopefully it will still be honoured.

    • matey where do we find the small print refuel surcharge plz

      • When you get the total price, you can click on it to show the breakdown of taxes. My booking shows the various passenger movement fees, but no fuel surcharge (also known as YQ).

        • fine print says all inclusive except local taxes. i read yq is airline tax not local

    • I have now received my e-ticket, so I'm completely confirmed.

      • Just because you get an e-ticket does not mean you're completely confirmed. It can still be classified as a pricing mistake and the tickets cancelled or adjusted.

We don't have the same protection laws as they do in America or Europe in regards to flights.

  • So tempting! Alas, I have no money!

  • +1

I have money, lots of annual leave entitlement, but no one to go with ;(

    • +2

It's Thailand, trust me, you'll make lots of new friends very quickly! ;)

      • I've never been to Thailand before and have heard about some dodgy stuffs happening to people.
So I assume the "friends" you guys are talking about def. not the types a solo female traveler should be hanging out with? :)

        • You could always take various tours. And you shouldn't need company to go shopping.

        • +7

Pay for my flight and I'll accompany you around Bangkok and udon. I'll protect you from all the dodgy stuff :thumbup

      • You will regret it if that"s all that is stopping you. I went on my own and was hardly ever alone, just stay in cheap backpacker places and you will always meet other people.

        • +2

Thanks all for the encouragement, finally decided to go ahead and booked 23rd November to Phuket stopover Bangkok.

        • +1

You won't regret it, Thailand is a very diverse holiday destination for people from all walks of life.

Not only will you meet a lot of sincere other travellers and expats on your trip, but the Thais themselves are a wonderfully friendly people who really do value those who wish to experience the Thai culture & lifestyle.

    • You don't even have to be in Thailand to make friends in that situation. :)

SYD-CNX even lower, $481. I'll have to decide very soon!

    • i'll go with you

  • Guys, check out the winter escape page:

    http://www.thaiairways.com/offers/special-fare-promotions/en…

Don't look at the prices listed, actually put in a itinerary and get a quote. I got the same quote for SYD-CNX from there. Looks like the fares are legit.

    • I have a feeling that the search tool there just uses the main booking engine which seems like it's having a glitch with the fuel surcharge (YQ).

Just booked the mrs on a flight out of Bris for $488. Pity I couldn't take advantage. Damn work :(

  • Pricing errors are never honored from what ive learned in the past 2 weeks, talking about kogan and lenovo..

  • Brisbane-BKK-ChiangMai
    ChiangMai-BKK
    BKK-Brisbane $480

    That's a WOW price!!!

  • with reservations and itinerary emailed and updated on amadeus, tickets showing as confirmed. it is highly likely that it will go through.

    • How do you check your booking on Amadeus

    • Yup my trip shows up there. Yay!

  • Thanks, was anyone able to select their seats?

    • You have to apply for thaiairway member (free) to be able to select seat.

      • Probably before booking right? oh well i'm sure its possible to call and get them to assign seats (once the deal is confirmed 100% that is)

    • I was able to select seats without signing up to the thaiair membership

    • I was able to, you just have to tick the box after entering traveller details.

Thank you so much for sharing…just booked for long weekend SYD-BKK return for $491. Cheers

    • My pleasure. The first reply was from Car-la-la, not the kind of response I was expecting.

  • Looks like the party may be over now. I can see the multi-city quotes are now including YQ in their calculations.

    • Yup, my itinerary has gone up to the usual low season fare. Glad I got in when I did.

  • Sweet scored my parents tickets Sydney Bangkok, Phuket Sydney for $481 each. And then they grabbed a 50 buck air asia flight in the middle. Looks like it's over now, I love OzBargain!

  • Damn i just missed out, are you guys sure its expired?

    • Try your luck but when I checked yesterday the fuel surcharge was being charged again and prices were back to normal $800 - $1000 return.

  • +1

no plan to go to bkk, now i am going with my missus for a quick getaway next month, ozbargain you made me broke and happy :D

Just went into the Melbourne office to pay for the flight I booked for my grandfather.

Was advised that there was a pricing error but would be honoured none the less. He showed me was the ticket should have cost. $946 down to $535. Awesome stuff. Was also told that if the origin flight date was changed that ticket would revert back to the market price, changing the return flight alone would only occur a $50 surcharge, as long as its within 3 months and seats are available.

He also asked how I found out about it, I told him a friend called me, but we all know where I found it. Awesome stuff. Many thanks to the OP.

    • Awesome news, thanks for letting us know.

I managed to book Brisbane -> Bangkok -> Phuket return for myself & the misses. We're really excited but have been apprehensive about booking accommodation until we knew whether the tickets would be honoured. Sounds like we're going on a holiday…

    • +1

Kudos for Thai for handling this well, unlike some other merchants. They lost some revenue but gained customer goodwill and some viral advertising.

    • Yep good news. We've been sweating on a phonecall since saturday.

  • @raging last time i changed a return flight from bangkok to melbourne It cost me $100 aud plus airport tax making it a total of $125. $50 is pretty good.
