(Also mentioned on the OzBargain deal above this deal :))

(I'm a happy MAS flyer and have heard less than flattering talk about Virgin Atlantic to Sydney… though the Biz beds are nice - same as Air NZ Biz. :))

OTOH, it's worth considering if you are transsferring your C/card points to Velocity and can get a cheap redemption on your V points!

  • Good deal if you want to fly direct to Europe, since a lot of the cheaper deals such as Emirates require a stopover. After flying for 15 odd hours, its not always the most pleasant experience to get off the plane and wait a few hours for the next 7 hours of your journey

    • as bizi mentions below Virgin Atlantic stops over at Hong Kong (AUS>HK>London). With Emirates you can either stopover at just Dubai (AUS>Dubai>London) or you can stopover at Singapore as well (AUS>Singapore>Dubai>London).

  • Bear in mind Virgin Atlantic is via Hong Kong, not 'direct' non-stop.
It's a 1-stop, just like Malaysia (which is via Kuala Lumpur).

  • Is this $1488 a Return air fare or just 1 way?

  • Singapore Airlines are also doing this for a bit over $1400 - about $50 less than Virgin. (via Singapore, obviously)
