  • these are never discounted, great find op!

    • no worries - though WELCOME10 being 10% off would have been better in this case…

      • well seeing my current weber q is going strong i wont be buying, but i highly recommend this bbq to others in the market for a new one, dont even consider alternatives…

      • Cheers OP picked up a Q200 today :-)

  • masters won't price match if you use those codes, only the advertised price

    • they'll beat the final price of a written quote - just show them a print out of your shopping bag :)

      • -5

they'll beat the final price of a written quote - just show them a print out of your shopping bag :)

In todays terms, I believe that is what we call Fraud. They offer you a 10% price guarantee based on advertised price

        • how is it fraud? shopping bag shows price and discount - many written quotes only show final price :)

btw price doesn't have to be advertised to be matched/beaten

        • -4

Taking advantage of companies like this will probably make them look into their future price matching policies. I'm sure that someone from Masters Management will see this (if not seen it already).

        • +2

Then it's their loss… They only use the price beat to get you to come and spend your money in their store. They get your purchase, without having to advertise or reduce the sale price to that of their competitors for all customers.

          It's for their benefit… not your's!

Taking advantage of a price matching policy.

Its price matching that they have decided they WANT to do. I can buy at DJ's for $234 and Masters policy is 10% off

READ their POLICY before making statements that can mislead others. The OP has even nicely put a link to this in the post. Just click it.

So if you ever find a better price on an identical item, even up to 30 days after purchase, we’ll beat it by 10%*. For appliances we’ll match it.

Found a better price online? That’s right, we’ll beat it by 10%*, too. For appliances we'll match it.

          To repeat

Found a better price online? That’s right, we’ll beat it by 10%*, too. For appliances we'll match it.

Now if Masters Management decides that they no longer want to do something they said they would do, that's fine, that's their decision. ITS nothing to do with FRAUD. And at the worst they will decide it's the online "advertised" price, with no allowance for extra codes.

So if promoting this does highlight to them something they never intended, then there is nothing lost as you infer.

All that said, this is really a price match deal with codes that are generic to any DJ's merchandise, so its marginal as a deal posting. Forum material instead? - Buts thats the mod's decision. Its just really that Masters

But with that proviso its a nice post and can save money on a product rarely discounted.

BTW the original discount DJ's offer is just the same as BBQ's Galore http://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/products/product-view.aspx… $259

          welcome to ozbargain :)

  • Can someone please give me advice on roasting with the Q200? I was seriously considering the Q220 for the thermometer but this price seems too good to pass up. The weber videos seem to show all roasting being done on a setting about three back from the maximum setting (after pre-heating). I'm wondering if this technique makes the thermometer unnecessary?

    • grab yourself a cheap portable thermometer and you'll be right with the q200.

i have one and i brought a $3 meritline meat thermometer that was on ozbargain not too long ago - awesome roasts!!

also grab yourself a weber q trivet if you're going to be doing roasts

    • I have a q220 so I always have a dome temperature. I got the 220 as it has a higher dome so it can fit more. It's nice to have the thermometer there as a guide - I've noticed on windy days or when it's cold, the temp might can be a bit lower. With wind, it can drop quite a lot. The best results (with roasting) I've got have been from cooking to a temperature with an internal thermometer with alarm - these are I think maybe $20-30 from bunnings (I could be wrong). This means that the dome temperature isn't needed. For steaks I will use my thermopen (not cheap but very fast and very accurate - I use it for candy and other stuff too). But there are plenty of people out there who cook wonderful meals without thermometers! By the way the Q series are awesome BBQs :) When you buy your BBQ don't forget to get a trivet as well!

  • How does this work in conjunction with http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116940?

    • nice pickup - call them, order online, they price-beat pre- and post-purchase :)

      http://miy.masters.com.au/about/masters-promise

      • How do you go about doing this? I called, was told that for the price beat, the order has to be done over the phone which therefore negates the amex offer. The only way I can see this working is to do click and collect, and do a post-purchase price beat. Has anyone had tried this?

        • +1

I had a look at when i did a masters order on the phone earlier in the year through amex and the phone order comes up as masters online on my statement….hence why i bought over the phone and am very very confident i will get the $50 from the amex offer as well…

    • Given that discount is 5 days old plus limited to 2200 participants its probably already gone, but you might want to try….

      • Not if I'm registered already.

  • I am thinking about the Q100.
Any reason why I should pay more and get the Q200?

    • +1

      yep, worth it!!
just bigger and better - unless you're only ever cooking for 2 people or need it to be more portable

  • Any good deals for the weber family Q - seems like David Jones does not stock that model, I think it is the 305Q

  • Q200 page down on DJ site?

  • The weber Q seems to have a good rep but I do not know to much about them, is it true that you're supposed to have the lid down when cooking on them? even for a simple steak

    • +1

Yep that's right. It's a really different way of cooking but I've gotten used to it… they have good videos at http://www.weberbbq.com.au/Videos.php

    • It is better to, but you don't have to (your steak will still cook fine if you don't)

  • -1

I dont understand the appeal of these, Its just a smaller hooded BBQ that comes with a cookbook. I guess because there are all standard you can use the recipe book and cooking times. Where as everyones 4hooded 4 burner is a little different, so cooking time cant be a guide.

That and they are way more portable than a 4 burner.

They market the "Different way of cooking" well. This different way consists of using a flame to cook meat eh? ingenious. Steal the caveman's idea, he can't sue, he's frozen in Ice.

      1) Extremely high-quality materials and workmanship.
      2) Extremely good customer service. A friend last week had failed to season his 3-year-old grill… and got some rust on it. They couriered him a new one the next day.
      3) Extremely low gas use. I have a Weber Q 320AU (high lid and thermometer) that I use twice a week on average, and about once every 2-3 weeks for a 3-6 hour roast. A 9kg gas cylinder lasted me 8 months.
      4) The egg shape and heavy duty build is very thermally efficient. Very little gas is needed to maintain a good even temperature. The round shape seems to suit convection currents better than square ones.
      5) You can use every single bit of the grill for cooking, even the edges are the same even temp as the middle. I found rectangular 4-burners to have wildly varied hot and cool zones and were cold within 10cm of the edge.
      6) Yes you DO cook with the lid down. It's like an oven at home - do you use it with the door open? Of course not? And steaks at top places are done in ovens too :)
      7) I found the thermometer models better because they also feature a higher hood meaning you can fit bigger roasts on it. I use the thermometer religiously - eg for roast pork I like it to be on 350 degrees for the first 15 mins to create crackling, then drop it to 150 deg for a couple of hours for extremely tender roasting. Also ensure that you get a meat thermometer like http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117510#comment-1608227 and use the meat's internal temp to determine when it's done.
      8) With a Weber Q you need to learn to cook differently (better?), mainly using indirect heat rather than direct - or a combination of the two (eg for steak) and it's very worthwhile.

      • Yeah I can believe all that. They are a good size for family meals and roast, and the build quality is good, the father-in law has one and my mate has one. Its like the dyson vs a standard $100 vacuum. I can see the value.

Must have been invented by a woman in response to the question, how can I invent something thats the perfect fathers day gift under $400, small enough to be gift wrapped, and also get him the do the cooking.

    • i just bought q100 few weeks ago after reading raving reviews as i was after ok bbq i could take with me anywhere. The other day, after following cooking guide in their book I have cooked the best stake i have ever tried. it cooks fantastic and q100 can cook about 6 stakes at once.

Sorry dude, I think its spelt S-T-E-A-K.

Vampires be warned at this guys house.

        • You Sir/Madam, BRAVO! ha hah hah

you made me spill my coffee on the keyboard. :)

I can imagine Vampire hunter approaching the coffin with steak in his hand…

          funny.

on the side note. I am buying one, thanks for good bargain! :)

        • +1

You never know, he could be a termite and in fact was cooking a stake ;)

  • Can someone please tell me whats the difference between the two models. IS $80 more for the expensive one worth it?
Never mind answered my own question - http://www.grillgear1.com/Weber-Q220-vs-Q100-Difference-Betw…

EDIT - Q200 is out of stock.

  • I got the Family Q for $558 using this technique just before Father's Day. Masters weren't that happy about it though. Wrote about it here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1692339&p…

  • has anyone been successful with getting a price match?

i've never done a pricematch before, interested to see how it goes :)

    • Masters were willing to price match but not price beat for online ordering.

      • Which store?

    • i just got it price beat at Masters. very exciting stuff :D

      STOKED!!
      thanks op!

      • Same! I asked for a price match and then the girl put it through for $224.10 as a price beat! Score! Had to think quick and buy the attachable table arms for the side of the weber baby q so it took it over $250!

        • +1

did not know you could buy the arms seperately for the baby q. i was standing there, deciding on which to get. the baby q was enough for my use, but the arms on the 200 sold it for me.

in the end, i'm happy with going for the 200. $30 difference for more cooking (albeit, bigger and bulkier to carry) is well worth it! :)

  • Thanks op. Just ordered the Q200 click & collect in store.

  • What are the limits on WELCOME and TREATME5?

I tried to order something different and neither of them worked. Is there a minimum spend?

Edit: Ok, google tells me it's $50

  • If you don't want to pick it up, David Jones ships it for free.

  • Thanks OP; price beat with Masters without the codes; it came to approx $295 and purchased with wish cards that I bought with 5% with the entertainment book. I believe my purchase cost is around $280.

  • Price beat to 282 plus $50 off with Amex, chullora store

  • So I picked one up at Chullora also, guy seemed to know as soon as I mentioned DJs.

Would anybody else have any recommendations on gas cylinders?

Would it be a better in the long term to refill at my local servo or just get a swap one like the one at masters?

I suppose it depends on usage, but let's say for moderate usage.

  • Picked one up today for $210.60, they didn't seem keen to take the extra 10% off, and I had to ask for it to be taken off.

  • Anyone have a receipt they can upload for the Weber Q100 at $210.60?

  • +1

Just uses my weber baby q for the first time tonight and am really happy with the buy! Thanks OP

Cooked my sausages and Cajun chicken thighs I made perfectly

  • just bought the Q200 over the phone with Masters, got it priced matched with the extra 10% using my registered AMEX card.
Hopefully I'll get my $50 cash rebate in the next 5 days.
Brings the total down to $265.09 for it! what a BARGAIN!

gotta say their over the phone customer service is pretty slow, but defs worth the wait for this price
