considering I have a few Bodum glasses from their last promo, I'll agree to give them some facebook details for a couple of pods ;)

  • thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP, I have requested some samples, hopefully I can make use of them somehow.

We have a Nespresso machine at work but it takes pods that look like this: http://blog.cdccoffee.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/nespres…

Can anyone tell me what the name of the pods are? I'd like to try some different flavors and don't mind buying my own to take to work.
Please forgive me if I'm stupid, I'm quite new to this pod thing and was never really a big coffee drinker until recently.

    • If I'm not mistaken Nespresso pods are exactly that - Nespresso. You can sign up online and buy your own or visit stores around major cities where you can sample them all you want and buy a few dozen packs on your caffeine high.

I should clarify: Nespresso is the name of the system and Nespresso pods are what you need. Your photo has linked to Nespresso pods, therefore.. you need Nespresso pods such as the sample ones you've ordered.

    • These work in you work machine as these capsules are Nespresso compatible.

    • That is a commercial version that Nespresso sells to business. Someone told me they made two versions to stop staff from taking them home. The business pod won't fit into a retail Nespresso machine and vice versa.

    • That is the Nespresso line for business, not widespread as standard nespresso and very limited selection.
Confirming standard Nespresso capsules will not fit your machine.

  • Would these work, if not perfectly, in an aldi machine?
Keen to test as they at least sell these at woollies whereas we can't always get to an aldi store to restock

    • These are nespresso compatiple. Aldi uses the map pod system. So this will not be compatible with your machine.

  • Safe

  • I've tried these before in my Nespresso machine. First few worked fine, but the rest kept getting stuck. I guess that's the good thing about a sample though, you can give it a shot!

  • I made the mistake of purchasing this previously. The pod is shorter than a Nespresso standard; it has a flat bottom and made of plastic instead of aluminium. Due to shorter design, the pins never reached into the pod but jet hot water through from the outside instead resulting in the weaker coffee; and quite a bit of the extra water leaked into the back tray. I'm not sure about other Nespresso models but this doesn't work well with the Essenza. I also had three damaged pods, two got stuck and one sort of melted. I hope they've changed the design now.

    • I went through about 4 packs (due to the bodum glass deal) and had no issues with my Nespresso Pixie

    • I have been using these with my Essenza twice a day since they first appeared (a year ago?), and have never had any problems.

  • Kirt, interesting that you got it to work wth Essenza, mine still working perfectly with the originals after four years but not this. Good thing that it's old, on a new machine I won't risk the warranty though.

    • Yeah…in fact, I think the warranty on some of the newer machines specifically mention that they are only warranted with use of official pods. My Essenza warranty does not have this stated.

I have thrown almost every compatible pod available at my machine (including the new Dilmah tea caps), and they all work fine, although admittedly some require slightly more pressure on the handle to close it.
