I noticed that Bing Lee has the WD My Book Live 3Tb advertised on their website for $199. I was able to pricematch this model at OfficeWorks Dee Why NSW, for $189.05 after 5% off the pricematched price. OW is selling it for $228, although the price on the shelf is $249.

I'm sure it won't last long and OW will soon drop their price.

There isn't an expiry date on the Bing Lee website for the $199 price. Harvey Norman have it for $248 while JB are selling it for $199. The guy at OW wasn't interested in the JB price.

Cheers

  • This item is a lot cheaper on Amazon, didn't look anywhere else or check shipping to AU though.

      Not on Amazon.com.

Amazon aren't directly selling it anymore.

From the cheapest 3rd party seller:

      Items: USD 165.00
      Shipping & handling: USD 154.70
      Total before tax: USD 319.70
Estimated tax to be collected:* USD 0.00
      Order total: USD 319.70

HD must be flying first class.

    • Not covered by WD warranty either so ideally the 3 years you get locally is worth the extra IMHO anyway

    • It is not a a 'My Book Live'.

      • sorry did not notice that but even My book live is cheaper
        http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Cloud-Storage-Share-Photos/dp…
not sure if it worth it to order from amazon to save couple of $$
I just ordered one of the 4tb as I think its good price

You ordered one from that link? Hmm.

If you look at my comment above, you'll see it's $154 for shipping. $319 total.

Which seller did you buy from?

        • +1

          Got I less than $200
          Shipping was $19
note I ordered the WD My Book 4TB NOT the my book live 3tb

          Items: $159.99
          Shipping & handling: $19.36
          Total before tax: $179.35
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
          Order total: $179.35

    • That's different. Live adds NAS support (directly plug HD into network) whereas they one you linked is the normal USB external HD.

      • sorry did not notice that :)

  • Does anyone use two of these? They suggest having a second one to back up your main MyBook live.

My current Mybook live has no back up. As there is no USB ports on it, you can't just plug in a cheap hard drive and create a backup. although you could transfer everything through your computer but would take ages.

The good guys appear to be selling it at $188.

    • Stated as clearance, so good luck price matching at OW.

"….. so good luck price matching at OW."

Then don't, just buy it from a retailer that is actually offering the good deal rather than helping Officeworks to kill off the competition.

        • And I did. Ordered two. Should be here on Monday. :)

    • Price matched at OW, paid $178.6.

      Thanks.

you can have this around $200
    3tb, its seem better deal
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EVVGAC6

  • For $200, I would get 4TB…

    • 4TB with built in Ethernet and high throughput rate?

      Please link?

One of my WD drive gave up and is still under warranty but they have asked me to ship it to Malaysia, it is not cheap sending it there. Surely this is against Australian warranty policy? Now I don't want to buy a WD product.

    • Who is "they"? Bing Lee, WD or another retailer?

      • WD support. I lodged an RMA.

        • Ok. I imagine they don't have a service centre in Australia. If you are happy to incur a delay it might be worth approaching the retailer instead or alternatively ask WD if they have any local offices you can mail the device to (although if they have to redirect it off shore that'll likely incur a delay).
