    • I have a few cards with total credit limit exceeding 20k and was approved… balances owing on the cards are not much and usually paid off on time (unless I forget!).

  • How long does it take to get card…once applied if already a citibank plus card holder?

    Does the following apply?????????

    newington07 on 18/11/2013 - 23:07
    On this page:
    http://www.citibank.com.au/aus/credit_cards/cards_signature….
    (under Rewards tab)

    Complimentary Rewards Program
Domestic: 1.5 reward points per $1 spent (if Balance Transfer offer is chosen) or 3 rewards points per $1 spent for 6 months (if Purchases offer is chosen). Reverts to 1.5 rewards points after the promotional period)
International: 4 reward points per $1 spent

Are all these benefits of normal Signature Card (with Annual Fee) are available on FandF offer?
    - Free wine every time you dine with the Citibank Dining Program
    - Complimentary Priority Pass™ Membership and two airport lounge visits per year8
    - Discounted Airport Meet & Assist service

You don't get ATO or insurance payments points on the cards…BE WARNED!

  • If I transfer my balance from another CC do I still get the 55 days interest free for new purchases?

    • No. Interest on purchases will be charged immediately.

  • Currently paying $150 a year on the Signature rewards card (Free upgrade from gold). Called them up now asked about this all they could do is waive this years fee. Have to re-apply to get the free for life $0 fee, don't want to risk it as I earn slight under $75k.. :(

    • Re-apply without cancelling your current card? If you don't get the signature card, cancel the new application.

    • Just go for it. Even if you're approved on the platinum you can always upgrade in a year's time. There's no really that much of a difference between the two anway. Or would you rather call them every year?

  • With the signature card do you still get the travel insurance?

  • Thanks OP! I have been waiting for this deal to come back for a few years now! I've applied for myself and the wifie :)

Hi, ilovem3, I have been using coles mastercard since 5 years and I cancelled Last year.
Reason : Never Earned Anything except 4 cents extra fuel offer , Further now a days any way retails makes you more greedy to buy more to get ripped with flybuys and fuel offers. Further they (Coles MC) their are two cards so don't get fooled as they do not specify clearly.
    1) WITHOUT ANNUAL FEE - NO REWARDS
    2) WITH ANNUAL FEE- REWARDS.
Many of my Friends who are coles Employee have cancel Coles MC which were allocated to them FREE.

I have citi Platninum Card for nearly 10 years, I cancelled last years as was applying for mortgage. but got it now again.

I can only say from past experience, Go for Citi bank its really worth it. Coles MC is waste of time.

    • Thanks for that mate, I'd have to rethink carefully then!

It seems the platinum card has an "additional fee" of $90.

    http://www.citibank.com.au/aus/static/feesandcharges.htm

I'd love to have a credit card, unfortunately i hate banks :S.

    • i thought that fee is for additional card? ie if you get one for your partner under your name

    • "additional cardholder fee" is a fee for an additional card linked to the same account.

e.g. if you want to get another card for your family member/ partner or whatver, that is linked to the same credit account.

      • Aaaah, okay thanks.

    • +2

they don't actually charge the additional card fee if you have annual fee free for life.

my friend has 3 additional cards on his, and i have previous inquired about it and they confirmed additional cards are free.

      • you sure that's not because he has a Signature card? Signature doesn't have additional card fee but Platinum does.

        • he does have a signature now, but he has always had 4 cards on it (back before he was upgraded to signature).

I looked into it myself, because I was going to get an additional card for my (now ex) girlfriend, and they confirmed that I could get an additional card for free on my platinum.

that's what I was told anyway (i never actually got the additional card, due to other reasons).

        • +1

          hmm good thing u didn't

        • lol sif get card for gf

        • confirmed that my mate has always had 3 additional cards since back on platinum.

and yeah, obviously lucky i didn't get the additional card!!! :)

  • I wish they up the ante by offering free annual for life on their Citibank Select CC…

    • That's what a bulk-billed annual prostate check is

  • Hmm, the last thing I really need is another card in my purse, but Signature seems like a really good deal! I only have one credit card, but I have a gazillion of other cards (banking and loyalty)

Which one would be better Citibank Rewards Program or the Citibank Qantas Rewards Program?

    • Depends which one you want to use. For flights may be QFF (but $49 fee annually) or if you like items or gift cards the CitiRewards as it as a higher conversion rate.

      QFF is 1:1
      CitiRewards is 1.5:1
      (For sig)

      • Thanks. I'm a once a year flyer and coupled with having to pay a $49 annual fee, I think CitiRewards is the one for me.

  • If I understand correctly, Signature card has $0 for additional cardholder, is this true?

This card compared to my current ANZ Rewards Visa is so much better - we pay annual fee, paying for rewards (still worth it for us) where with this card is 0%! :)

By the way, can you link Direct Debit facility to this card?

    • If I understand correctly, Signature card has $0 for additional cardholder, is this true?

      yes

By the way, can you link Direct Debit facility to this card?

      no, it's a credit card.

      • Thanks mate, by Direct Debit I meant to pay it off using automatic Direct Debit. I've looked on their website, you can do that.

  • Is it really worth getting the platinum if I earn under 75K?

Already have 28 Deg & Westpac 55 day CC.

I make all repayments on time but have yet to experience a rewards card so I can't say I'm convinced.

Wouldn't mind giving the Westpac card the flick, but do you find yourself making use of the rewards so much that it's justified?

    • If under 75k the system will auto kick you

      • For the platinum..? which says 35K minimum..?

        • Oh my bad. I thought Plat > Sig. (Confusing!)

Yeah you should be right if you earn 75 and want plat, since plat's min income is 35k

        • +2

dude you didn't answer his answer at all.

        • +2

          Edwinlin88, I question your question.

    • +1

is your westpac card a visa platinum (allows use of visa concierge service for booking restaurants, etc), and does it offer free insurance/extended warranty?

if your card doesn't have either of the above, then those things might be worth it for you. (particularly since it's free, and the only "cost" is an extra entry on your credit file).

      • No benefits whatsoever on my Westpac card, so that may be the decider. Thanks.

  • Can you change between QFF ($49 annual fee) and Citi Rewards (free) from year to year? Or do you have to make a selection on application that applies for life?

  • thanks OP, have had the platinum for 6 yrs now, for travelling purposes mostly, but I've had to apply again to get the 0 annual fee for life… 45mins of my life I'll never get back… but save $199 a year so… can't complain

  • +2

Don't believe anything that Citi says. I joined their 'no fee for life' Ready Credit card many years ago. Then after a few months, they introduced fees. I was involved in a class action suit against Citi, but they had some weird clause in the T&C which allowed them to introduce 'tariffs'. Because it wasn't called a 'fee' they were legally allowed to introduce whatever fees they wanted. I haven't dealt with Citi ever again.

    • +4

on the other hand, lots of people who applied for the "free for life" gold card years ago are still on no-fee platinum or signature cards.

tldr banks don't care about you, so drop them if they do dickish things.

      • on the other hand, lots of people who applied for the "free for life" gold card years ago are still on no-fee platinum or signature cards.

Count me amongst them! Got a free for life Gold when it was posted to OzBargain years ago. Got upgraded for free to Platinum and then Signature. Never been charged an annual fee, but I still have all the paper records in case there's ever a dispute. :)

    • +1

What fees are we talking about here though? I don't think they could introduce an "annual tariff" without causing a huge ruckus… if it's other stuff like currency exchange fees, etc. then that's pretty much par for the course when it comes to banks.

  • is the 75K income only from salary or can be combined salary plus investments property for example?

    • I think it can be combined. There is a second question about income from other sources.

    • Annual taxable income total. Check your tax return.

  • I already have the Citibank Platinum credit card with no annual fee for life.

I want to upgrade to the Signature credit card. Do I have to apply for it or speak to customer service for this request?

    • i m in the same situation. Called them this morning. They said I had to use the link to apply to be eligible for the no annual fee for life. there is no other way to upgrade in their system on the existing credit card. but once you get your second card, you can request a process called 'combined accounts' and transfer all your points, balance, credit limit, etc etc

    • nope you have to apply online as new applicants to get free annual fee for life promo

  • If you only want BT's you might as well get it through normal means:
    Because of:

    Balance Transfer Offer:
0% p.a. for 15 months on balance transfers (1% balance transfer fee applies)1

    • Note the 1% balance transfer fee.

      This 6 months is free.

      • Yes. But depending on your limit etc.. and what you do with the money the longer BT may be better.

*shrugs, you gotta work it out yourself if it's worth it. Just putting it out there…

  • +1

So i called up to find out the minimum credit limit

Was told $6k for Plat $15k for signature.

I asked if I could lower the credit limit below these levels once the card had been approved.

I was told 'yes we can attempt to do that' Couldnt get a straight yes/no.

I really dont want a $15k limit. I like my cards to be at the $3-4k mark and pay them off each month.

Has anyone got any knowledge or experience (as in actual knowledge or experience, not just having a guess) with this? Cheers guys.

    Great offer btw.

    • +1

Hi glados, about a month ago I called to try and get my Platinum card limit reduced. I was refused and told that $6k is the absolute minimum for this card. If you want a lower minimum you'll need to change cards.

      • agree. somewhere i read about the correlation between card type and limit. ie, you cant have only $1000 limit for platinum, or you cant get $50,000 limit for gold cards

  • Can we use this card with PayPal and still get all the relevent covers\ Rewards?

    • +1

From experience with the Platinum: Rewards - yes, every transaction counts the same, Paypal is just another merchant for them.

Insurance covers: who knows, that would be one for the lawyers…

I have had the card for many years without having to make any insurance claim. Has anyone got experience how hard they (or Zurich) try to weasel out of their promised cover when you try to make a claim?

      • Insurance is valid with Paypal purchase of flights. Got confirmation a few years ago.

    • Yes.

  • +2

Thanks OP, been waiting for this offer to come around again. Got the Signature card.

I also think the 1.5 Citibank reward points = 1 KrisFlyer mile redemption option is pretty good.

  • remember you can always request a cheque to yourself for the balance transfer offer and if you already a citibank customer and did a new card application or BT in the last 6-9 months you wont qualify. I have to wait until Jan 5th before i qualify to reapply for another citibank credit product. does anyone know to qualify for this offer do applications need to be finalized before 31st DEC or If i apply on just apply by dec 31st? I might apply on the last day Dec 31st but wonder how long you have to finalize the application to qualify for this no annual fee for life offer? Does anyone know if you are a citigold client what the minimum income required is to apply for both cards? it used to be 20k for the platinum card.

  • Being a customer of citibank, I have called just then and have spoken to one of their consultants and have explained that I would like to take advantage of their offer where you don't pay any fees for Citibank Platinum and also 0% for 12 months. I recently took a Citibank clear platinum. I was put through a Relationship manager and all I was told is to apply afresh and subject to approval, I can avail the offers. Citibank does not offer any product transfer like ANZ or nab. It is a real shame that existing card holders cannot get better deals.

  • +1

I'm an existing Citibank Platinum card holder and thanks to this post I just called them and got my annual fee of $199 refunded. Basically you threaten to close the account if they don't offer you the $0 annual fee as per this promotion. They did say it would only be for this year. I'll be calling up next year and doing the same thing.

    • +1

Maybe better to just sign up for one of these, so you can save your call costs and time in calling again next year and the year after….

    • so have you ever pay? in my 6 years using platinum i never pay a cents annual fees

  • +1

I am an existing Citibank Platinum card holder fee free for life. I just applied the Signature card via the link last night. Just called Citibank and they said I don't need to provide any documentation and is already approved. They will send me the card over next few days. So existing card holders can still apply, just need to apply as new application rather than upgrade.

    Comment not relevant, retracted

    • -2

lol, who neg'd my retraction of my own stupid comment!?

I had a whinge about not being able to select QFF in the app form and then noticed that it's clearly explained in the small print. Get the card then change from CR to QFF.

      • +2

do it again, just for the hell of it

  • Too bad. I am not qualified for either of them.

  • Easy and quick

    Got approved

    Thanks op

    • Did it say approved straight away for you? I just got an application number and please send the paperwork.

      • 11 years with citibank

        approved right away :)

  • Does anyone know if my husband can apply and transfer my CC balance over? He is an additional card holder on my account. I want to close mine and just keep one card for us.

    • if its an additional card in the same name as the primary applicant it will work fine. i suggest requesting the cheque be posted to one self instead and cashing it in at NAB as a citibank deposit. they are slow sending BT as they simply post out cheques to the other cc one of my BT took 10 days to arrive while the additional card cheque arrived in 3-4 days even though it was the same bank lol

    • Hey yes! Does anyone know if..I can apply on behalf of my wife..and transfer my CC balance over?

      • sounds legit.

  • Anyone have any experience(s) with their travel insurance?

I'm currently with Bankwest Platinum and am looking to move and this CC seems like an awesome idea…

    • If you do that you'll lose the "zero fees on foreign currency purchases" (forex I think it's called).
Best to keep either Bankwest Platinum or 28 degree card for purchases in overseas currencies.

      • Planning to do the 28 degree card + citibank platinum combo instead since both is free :P.

  • After checking with them last night if they could just upgrade from Plat to Signature. (which they advised they can't) I applied for Signature one straight away at night and sent the docs. I got 6 missed calls in a row (they are crazy…) while I was in meeting which I suspect was from Citibank. They advised that the absolute mininum for Signature credit card is $15k. yuck! but I said okay… Still, easy process

  • This just turned up in my inbox.
"We are pleased to advise that your recent application for a Citibank SIGNATURE CARD has been conditionaly approved"
Still got to run through the proof of ID and income (hmm, could be tricky that one)

  • A stupid question? Should I cancel my CBA CC first which has 15K limit before applying signature card? I don't want another high limit card or my application get rejected. I have been paying fees for CBA CC and now it is time to move on. Thank you ozbargain for educating me.

    • yeah, I think it might be a good idea. I applied for signature but got approved with platinum. Might be my other high limit credit cards…

      • sora, same thing happened to me so I called them who then advised to fax them a re-assestment request.

        • Thanks for the tips, Liski! I will try to re-assess too.

    • They dont know nor can find out your credit limit on the other card. I say dont tell em.

Again you must be responsible with money in the first place to own a credit card.

      • Can we do that? I thought they could look up how much total credit I have on cards. I always pay off everything a day before due date. I got another AMEX gold with high limit which is fee free. So I will keep that one.

        • they cannot tell that at the moment.

        • Slightly off-topic but whats the disadvantage of having high limit cards if you pay them off monthly anyway? (or in my case i barely scratch the limit of my BW Zero Platinum)

        • +1

little to not advantage unless you have some need at some point to use the higher limit or your particular card has a minimum (e.g. signature is $15k minimum).

    • On the application form, it actually says that something along the lines of 'what's your current credit card limit excluding the ones that you will cancel once you get this card' so you actually don't have to count those. And like Turd said.. it is quite grey area even if you don't cancel or don't tell them accurately.

  • I put 8000 as a limit on the signature card application and have been conditionally approved. Not sure whether this was an automatic approval or looked through by someone at their end. I provided the required details through email, but they requested again. Meh

I applied in the morning, received email later afternoon.

    cheers.

    • they will call you and say the limit is min. limit is 15k.
I put mine as 6k for Signature card. They rang me and said 15k is the min.

  • For ANZ QFF Visa Card holders, if they cancel their visa card and apply for a Citi Visa Card, do they need to cancel their QFF reward account as well? or can they keep the QFF account and continue to earn points if their Citi Visa card application is approved?

    • you can keep it, qff is different system
