  • Hmm dicksmiths now made it so you can't check stock on the items they had online or at least Click and collect isn't available now for the Nexus 7 or any of the other items I put in my cart, when it was available just 6 hours ago… so status has changed even though none of the stores are open…

  • Does anyone use the wireless seagate HDD before? is that useful?

    • I want to know this too.

    • +1

I bought one 2 weeks ago. I use it mainly for travelling for storing movies so that all our ipads can access movies on it, without running out of their disk space.
Also I use it for storing photos etc from my macbook as its running low on hard drive space (a new Macbook Pro in the sale is VERY tempting!)

    • +1

It's pretty good (but a bit bulky). I have tried it but went with the Kingston Wi-Drive instead as it is much smaller and lighter (but also smaller in capacity). If you want to carry all of your media with you then it is a good buy, but if you only want a bit more media (to get you through a flight etc), then I would opt for the smaller and lighter Kingston drive (which is SSD rather than a spinning hard drive).

  • Why do I get the feeling this will all end in disappointment for many?

    • Just got the Seagate HDD, asked a staff about macbook air stock and they said they only had about 10 macbook airs where 6 of them were sold already.

To be fair it was a small dicksmith and I doubt they would have the storage capacity to have 50x of each product.

  • +2

Yay ow price beat the nexus seven didn't even call to check or look at website stock. No issues at all just handed them the printed flyer. Yay at $273.60

    • +1

I've got it for the same price. Mine asked if dick Smith still had stocks. I told them that the sales starts today at 8am ….so only had to show them the flyer on my phone.

      • excellent! Also for those wondering Burleigh Heads west Office works has 6 more in stock after I bought one at opening and Dicksmith had 3 didn't buy one from them just asked them.

        • yep - no questions asked… missed the $279 sale previously so i'm happy

        • got mine home (sad you can't skip setup on this version to do play with it a little in the car) and I got the kitkat update straight away! OMG kitkat!!! =D

  • +2

Got a G27 from Brisbane CBD store.
I actually went in last night and put a hold on it for 24hrs :-)

At least 5-6 people who were in line in front of me walked out with some type of Apple product (imac air I think)
One person just after me had an iphone that was also put aside.

I will scan the receipt in for my G27 in a sec. Might help someone get a price match at JBHiFi.

  • +5

Just back from Dick Smith. They are honouring the Apple deals. I did not need a new Mac (but was tempted), but got two Apple TV's for $87 each.

    No dramas, no fuss.

  • +1

got a UE9000 from Chadstone (chadstone and glen waverly were the only stores in melbourne i found with stock…i think i took the last from chadstone).

happy with that (although, waiting to see if they get discounted even further tomorrow in the US!).

Was at the George St store this morning in Sydney. Pretty sure it was a mini ozbargain meet - around 5 ppl behind me bought apple products with their flyers while the guy was processing the 27 gift cards I got from last week's deal.

$900 for the 11" macbook air bought with gift cards 9.1% off and taking it out of the country for TRS = $736

A tip for those buying apple laptops, get them to scan everything first including the gift card offer in their current brochure before showing the flyer. I managed to get the $50 gift card as well. I think because he had already loaded the gift card the guy gave it to me anyways. A girl behind me showed the flyer before asking about the gift card and she didn't get it.

    • jon, you were very lucky you got both the itunes card and reduced price for the ipad.

I tried your tip at George St store about an hour ago and they said I had to choose either the reduced price of $296 or pay full price of $346 with no itunes gift card…bugger.

      • really? we can pay by gift card and still get GST refund at airport?

        • yeah you can get gst refund if you purchase any item over$300 with gift card

  • Got one of the 6 Mac Book Airs 13" from the Civic store this morning. Last one sold while I was there. They didn't need any flyers or anything. The better one wasn't on decent sale (only 10% off).

They didn't have any decent logitech G gear on sale. The G19s was half price on line yesterday and they couldn't match it. I only didn't get it because of stupid server problems.

    No G27s at this store.

  • Got the 13" MBA at Chatswood Chase. I don't think there is any left because at the time I left (around 9:45) a lady wasn't too happy that she couldn't get one.

    • Were you the tall guy who was there? The lady and I (third in line) both had a whinge to the guy who served you.

The guy who served you said to us we should have reserved it with Click and Collect. I pointed out that I assumed that would mean I'd agree to the website price, which was NOT $999. I also noticed later the email specifically exempted CnC items from that price.

Your guy then turned us over to his manager. He found one for the lady, then told me all the others had been reserved by CnC, and he allegedly had to call those people up to see if anyone wasn't going to go through with the purchase. After an ages-long wait, he came back and said he couldn't get onto one of them, so he'll give me his. So happily, I got one in the end.

As he was processing my one, a couple came up with the printout and enquired about the MBA, and he just said abruptly that they were all gone.

  • Got a 16GB iPad Mini (non-retina) at Macarthur Square. They only have white available.

  • +1

Was told by dicksmith moonee ponds that i could 'backorder' another G27 and they would honour the price at 227.00 if that helps anyone!

  • +3

    Thanks OP.

Got a remote controlled helicopter for my step-son for $37.50, normally $50. He'll be thrilled

  • +3

I just went into the apple store and ask if they can do the same price, they say yes without seeing the flyer.but i didn't get one anyway

  • No dice at JB on MBA.

  • My missus got 1 x (Old) ipad mini 16GB + 1 x Apple TV at Castle Hill Apple Shop with price match.

"The best thing with this $298 ipad is that," she added " it is fully tax deductable (work related) as it is below $300"

    • +2

I don't think being under $300 effects the ability to claim it as a tax deduction. If you claim less than $300, you don't need to have proof. Any higher amount would just require her to keep a receipt and to be able to prove that it's work related if audited.

Unless you are referring to some need to depreciate, which I'm not sure about.

    • the threshold should be $100 for immidiate deduction (i.e. not depreciated).

  • I went to OW Joondalup looking for an Apple TV (turns out they didn't have stock) but while I was there the manager said to the person helping me "Is that the friends and family one? We need to be careful with that"

I got the Apple TV from DSE Joondalup. 3 more left.

    • +2

They told me that they had received an email from head office advising them about the sale. They felt they were under no obligation to match or price beat but left the store with the discretion to do so.

  • +7

I hope this gets me some love, David Jones run Dicksmith concession stands doing all the deals.

Just got the MBA for $999.

    • this flyer works at Apple section of David Jones???

      • Yep. Got a kindle at DJ for $152 and used the Amex $30 statement credit. Net $122. Good price

  • +1

Apple Sydney store price matched the iMac 21.5" just bought one for mum - go forth fellow OZBargainers :)

  • Printed out, said a mate emailed it to me
    Logitech UE 6000, $99, tyvm.

  • +1

so i went to Perth Innaloo dse, presented the flyer for a MBA 13" but then the guy asked me for a staff card?! the whole store including the manager said that i need a staff card in order to get it for $999.

p.s. one of the staff entered his staff number and the price went fown to $899!they get another $100 off!

    • that's very strange cause :
      1. If you present the flyer you don't need a staff card
      2. From flyer's t&c: prices on the flyer are inclusive of any discount including staff discount so price shouldn't go further down

    • Interesting! I want to get the MB Pro and last night Innaloo was showing stock but now I can't check stock anymore.
It doesn't surprise me that they don't know their own T&Cs

      • +1

yeah they dont really know what they're doing. anyway, i judt went to perth city and got the last MBA.

    • The lady at DSE Joondalup asked me for a staff card at first, but I said I don't have one, plus the flyer says they can't be used. She said they must have been given the wrong info, then got another staff member to help. He scanned a barcode on a piece of paper and all was well. The receipt shows ~$94 for the Apple TV less staff discount that then brings it to the advertised price of $87.

  • Any iPad mini stock anywhere?

    • there were 21 at DS Canberra Centre this morning. I grabbed one without issue. $296 for an 1st gen iPad mini is pretty good. cheapest is probably Kogan 319 or bigw/officeworks 338

looks like DSE took all ipad pages offline

    • There are a few at southport (QLD)

    • Sydney City Westfield still had some 1hr ago

    • Thank you all for your replies! Much appreciated. I got one from Bankstown an hour ago :) They had some stock.

  • Will not even match OWs $177 on the ipad touch. Disappointing. So much for their price match policy.

  • does the online web working? try to check out, keep on emptying my basket ……
their upgraded system is crappier than before.

  • Theres one MBA 13" left at Macarthur Square NSW from about 1hour ago.
Staff were pretty clueless about the sale.

  • Thanks for the deal…..picked up Apple TV this morning at Chadstone VIC- they had a few there (maybe 5?); the staff were good- just showed the flyer….

  • garden city dicks last one MacBook Air 13.
    Got the second last one
    Hurry up guys!

    • +1

I think I just bought the last one, but the bloke says he's happy to discount the model up as well and they have plenty of them left

Also just walked into jb at garden city and the bloke at the door had a crack at me for shopping at dicks, and said I should've come to jb cause they price match everything. If you're in Brisbane, then jb at garden city should price match

  • I tried to get a Nexus 7 at the Dick Smith Springfield store. They wouldn't honour the deal unless I had a staff card, or a staff card holder was with me.

    • +1

Office works had no issue price beating and taking my money maybe give them a try.

      • +1

Good advice - saved me $14.40!

  • Got the Sony Alarm Clock Dock. For such a small unit, the sound though not powerful, is very clear and does not distort even when turned up to full volume, which could easily fill a medium sized room.

  • +2

I just got a price match on the 21.5 iMac at JB Hifi at Mermaid Waters Gold Coast :)
I just took my iPad in with the oz bargain post on the screen. No hassles the manager was happy to match as soon as they worked out what version it was.

  • Brought a Macbook Air - thanks OP!

    • +2

      Which store Car-la-la?

      • highpoint ds

  • As someone who doesn't know much about headphones, are there any particular ones on sale today that are good value? I'm looking for a closed-ear set, decent sound, with pads that won't wear out as quickly as the foam ones on my current Sony set.

  • Just picked up a MacBook Air at the Mt Druitt NSW store. They apparently still have a couple in stock if anyone is interested. They didn't seem very pleased about having to honour the deal though.

    • 11 or 13 inch?

      • I got the 13".

  • Just got the Good Guys (Gepps Cross, Adelaide) to price match the 13" MBA to $1000, had heaps in stock there. Had a bit of difficulty getting the salesman to price match due to staff discount, but the manager came over and was happy to!

  • Apple store sydney not price matching with the flyer :(, they
are saying they cannot without verifying the
    Price on-line.

    • +1
      • Op should have put this in the description.

        • I'm not a DS staff member, I only received the flyer by email.

        • oh never thought you were and didn't know how you came by the flyer. just without being posted on their site it's hard to get a store to believe it's a real sale. People can make pretty realistic fake flyers.

    • I just bought an Apple TV at the Apple Store. They priced matched when I showed the flyer: $22 off ;)

    • the one at town hall? i was there this morning and girls there are happy to price match it, not sure about the one at ultimo

    • Sydney CBD Apple Store is happy to price match 21" and 27" iMac @ 7:30pm

      • Just for the entry imac versions or they can do better prices for higher models?

  • Yes the main one in sydney, I managed to get one
price matched at jb hi fi in erina, although no stock till the weekend.

Btw I asked 2 different sales persons at apple, they said
the lowest they could do was 10% discount.

    • that's strange, they didn't even see my flyer and sounds like i wasn't the only one asked , there might be others already bought some before me.

  • Price matched the Nexus 7 with the DS Catalog at Officeworks, got it for 273.50.
Used ING Paywave for another 5% off as well.

  • Apple store bondi happy to price match all offers from dicksmith.

Spoke to the manager said he has had a lot of people price match today and he is fine with that.

  • +2

Price match at Apple Perth store, no question asked.

  • +1

I went to Inaloo DSE at 5pm - well and truly expecting no stock but managed to get my list done
    1. Macbook Pro $250 off
    2. Case for Macbook Pro 50% off
    3. Navman EZY250 $50 off
    4. Order a Ipad Air 128Gb (price match Big W and $50 itunes voucher)
    5. Logitech Ipad Air KB case (somewhere out back and no stock boy so they will honour the 20% off for tomorrow)
    6. 3 x Moshi headphones at 50% off

    • Is the $50 itunes voucher for the Ipad from a promotion or just given to you?

      • It will be given to me when the Ipad comes in as they had no stock.

  • +2

Well this is my haul, I'm not a dick smith staff member but I managed to build up enough of a rapport with the staff member he let me use his card.

    1. Nexus 7 32GB model (2013 version) with $50 gift card for $303.99 with the following bonuses thrown in;
(Telstra prepaid 3G USB WIFI, Norton 360 2 users and a Asus travel cover)

    2. Logitech UE9000 Headphones for $198.50

    3. Ipad Air 64GB Cellular - I tried to test my luck by price matching Big W but he wouldn't do it, instead he let me use his staff card + the $50 voucher I got from the Nexus 7 and the total price I had to pay was $827.82. Also got a $50 ITunes card

I feel like death spending this much but figured it was a good deal, opinions?

  • +1

DickSmith is just another joke again wasting my time, logitech G400s online price $48.99, shop price is $69.95, that stupid guy not even want to match DS online price, I dont even going to show him the flyer to get 40% on top of that …

    • Same here, manager tried to justify the price in store by saying you can just return the product in store if there's a problem compared to sending it back if you bought online. Waste of time!

    • Dicksmith online price is $69.98

      • -2

their website just another joke, when you do a search it comes up as $69.98, when you go thru "PC peripherals" clicking thru the "gaming and movies" tab and is listed as $48.99, we did this right in front of the DS pc and that stupid guy still try to bull me with a hell lot of $h|ts …
        http://www.dicksmith.com.au/computer-accessories/logitech-g4…

    • it you read the flyer it said 'these offers can not be used in conjunction with any other offer' so maybe it happened to be on sale in their brochure or online special.

Some people got lucky where they still gave away the gift card (therefore getting even more than 20% off) as the guy from Sydney City Store dicksmith staff pointed out to the person infront of me who tried arguing blue black and purple.

  • Bought the Air 13! Thanks OP, there was a line outside my local Dicksmith this morning @830 lol

  • Expired? Can't seem to get the logitech mouse online with sale price?
