expired EBAY zero insertion fee for 99c listings for MAY 7-30!
This was posted 1107 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal

because ebay lost money on this promotion (think about the percentage of all listings that start at under 99 cents).
It was a "hit" to the sellers, while ebay most probably did lose money on it.
Also i am not too sure but if eBay is on the New York stock exchange, then a small promotion here in australia is irrelevant to something big that could be going on over there
+8 votesEbay would never lose money on a free listing promotion. They probably get as much in return from the Final Value fees not to mention the rip-off Paypal fees.
Ebay shares are going down because visitor numbers are going down. They have been shafting sellers and buyers for far too long and they are paying for it.

eBay love the 99c promotion because it leads to lower end prices being achieved by sellers, this in turn attracts more buyers to the site, which in turn attracts more sellers. Great promotion for ebay - bad promotion if you are a seller.
Now ebay have made paypal a mandatory payment option they'll make their fees back in paypal fees.

The savings could potentially be massive. You're allowed to list a maximum of 20 of any one item at a time, so if you did one day auctions you could list 20 auctions of 1 item per day (useful if you had multiple stock). If you had 100 different items x 20 listings per day x 24 days x $0.30 savings = saving of $14,400..
