Xbox 360/PC Wireless Controller $49.99 + Delivery @ MightyApe.com.au

30

I've been looking for another controller for my Xbox 360 and this is the cheapest I've found. Obviously you need to factor in delivery. Mighty Ape seems at least $10 cheaper than everyone else. PC Compatible too which is a bonus.

Anyone found a better deal?

Might be handy for all those who bought an Xbox 360 as part of the Microsoft cash back.

UPDATED

This is the better deal from the Microsoft Store.

At that price you might as well get your friend/family to buy another xbox!

    • I know, crazy right?

    • +1

yeah lol because you could get a 4Gb Xbox for $ 79 from TArget (after cashback)!

      • What do you do with the 2nd Xbox with no controller? Maybe enter into a time share arrangement?

        • +2

Use the dvd remote and make it a Windows Media Center Extender.

        • Would have to do the maths to determine whether its worthwhile using an xbox instead of a basic media streaming device as I'm fairly sure the Xbox would use a shitload more power…

These boxes fail. YOu keep a backup in case your main box dies on you.

        • Sell it for $50

        • My Xbox 360 only uses 70 watt under full load according to my handheld usage meter.

          EDIT: And its never failed!

If you're going to get that, might as well get this, https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-157997-Xbox-360-Essential…. You'll get a controller, remote, a cable and 3 months Xbox live gold subscription for $57.

But you don't get the Windows wireless receiver with that pack…

But the bigw consoledeal for $98 ( after $100 cashback.
Uget controller, console, new batman game for $98.

This controller is not a deal.

Unfair neg. What if you need the wireless receiver for Windows? (Which AFAIK is no longer sold separately, unless you want an unreliable knock-off.)

    • +1

Point me to another cheaper PC compatible Xbox 360 wireless controller then? Not with another console and a game I don't want.

      Edit

This is $47.96 from the Microsoft store. Free shipping too.

No worries man, this deal doesn't deserve a neg….
EDIT: Just went on the MS store again and saw it comes with a bonus PC USB Adapter. OP, you should update the deal. :)

      • Ummm, that one doesn't have a wireless receiver for PC

        • +1

          Isn't this it?

The included USB receiver plugs into your PC to let you use up to four wireless controllers and headsets at once.

Beat me to it and I didn't even read your post, hahaha.

  • Has anyone tried a 3rd Party Controller like this one on eBay, available for $32.87 with free delivery (however, delivery can take from 15-30 days).

    Any suggestions?

    • +3

I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would buy a knock-off for 75-80% of the cost of a genuine controller…

    http://www.ozgameshop.com/xbox-360-controllers/elite-officia…

ozgameshop has 44.99 with free delivery. Located in UK though so delivery might take a tad longer. But still cheaper. I think there is also a $5 off coupon floating around.

EDIT - The following deal is expired but if you use the same trick there with this you should be able to get it for $40.49 by my calculation.

EDIT2 - Doesn't include the PC dongle though.

    • If I am allowed to post this here, I have a few in stock (4 or 5 I think), advertised on Quicksale for $44 each plus delivery (especially if paying cash or bank transfer, not Paypal), but I could probably do a little cheaper. Located in Brisbane. My supplier also currently has about 8 more in stock.

The wired ones can be had cheaply and have no need for wireless dongles or batteries. Just plug and play straight into the USB slots.

  • Seems OK (for now) but was $34 from the same mob awhile ago - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72558

Sure the USD would have something to do with it, but should a ~$15 price rise of an outdated console controller really be considered a bargain?

Depends when you need/want something. My time machine is in the shop at the moment.

  • I'm looking to buy just the wireless receiver.

Anyone know what this is called or where I can find one for cheap?

AFAIK, Microsoft no longer sell this separately, so if you want a genuine one you'll need to track down some old stock. Otherwise your only options are to buy a third-party one, or one bundled with a controller. :)

      • Yes buy third party ones, if you dont want to pay the extra
I baught mine from here: http://www.fasttech.com/products/1820/10000389/1043000-wirel…
Just throw out the CD and download drivers from microsoft website. I'm sure any of the dongles from ebay will work fine too.

^btw i baught from ft only because i was ordering parts and thought i might as well add that to my order too

        • Will they have the same compatibility and use the same drivers?

I don't trust the drivers will be easy to find for 3rd party.

        • 3rd party ones work fine according to all my friends who play pc games with a xbox controller. I bought this recently:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161184807006?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

        • Yeah I bought a cheap eBay one for $10 and worked fine. A little trick to set it up to get the right driver, but haven't had one problem at all using it on my HTPC!

    • +1

The original one (cheapest one I could find):
      http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/321179489097?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

      • Thanks.. just ordered one.

  • I bought a wireless controller over the counter for $47 at EB Games on the weekend. The buy another xbox from Target for $79 (only $32 more) was quite tempting as other members have noted.

  • +1

These are also available from PCCG for $45 (plus $12 delivery) http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&c…

So for me it's $1 less than this deal ($7.99 postage from MightyApe) and also would be a lot faster delivery, considering MA say 1-2 weeks before it's even dispatched.

Although compared to the Microsoft store deal it's not as good, but better than the MA deal.

    • You can also get the wired version(which I like more) for $30 (plus delivery) from them. You can get it even cheaper if you pick it up from their store in Melbourne.
