Spec says Nexus 7 2013 but the picture is Nexus 7 1st gen.

    • +4

2012 doesn't have a rear camera. Model number on the page is a 2013. The picture does make it confusing.

  • Good price.

That catalogue shows 2012 model, but list 2013 model specs. 2012 doesn't have 5 mp rear camera etc

  • not a good price if 2012 stock

  • +3

oh hey, its the deal i spotted over at the DS page.

  • +5

    Definitely 100% 2013 model.

  • +1

Just a heads up, you cant stack the staff discount on top of this price.

    • but you can buy two and get trs

      • I'm traveling out of the country in a month's time. Can I buy 1 Nexus 7 and then a $100 gift card?

        • they won't count your gift card… or gift card purchases.

        • +1

they do allow items purchased with a gift card

        • hmmmm at first it made sense, but then i thought.. do they? because thats basically getting cash back from your gift card :S

        • iv done many purchases on dse gift cards no issues…

  • whats the performance like on these things? screen reso look awesome but my experience with android tablets in past is they tend to lag slightly compared to apple. Have they (or this model atleast imporved?

    • +1

hmm always the opposite for me every iphone including 5s has lagged slightly for me.
android does when you open a million apps as once or alot of widgets
not being a fanboy being serious

    • We have a 2013 32Gb at home and the performance is awesome.

Verey snappy indeed, not laggy. And the graphics in 3D gaming are mind blowing.

    • Never had any lag on mine. Very happy with it. Got mine about a month ago.

  • Yeah my iPad air lags and apps crash more often than my n7 2013 model. They are both excellent tabs, I haven't really any experience with many android tabs outside the nexus lines, but I believe other android tabs aren't as smooth as the nexus series. Nexus series uses pure android and gets latest support, so seems to be more efficient.

    • That is correct sir nexus (the latest) are always the smoothest experience you will every get with android.
no bloatware and no touchwiz/HTC sence UI to slow things down/lag things slightly.

    • -1

Really? I have an iPad Mini and I've had no lag and crashes are so rare I cannot remember the last time it happened.
      What apps crash for you?

      • -2

Why exactly are you negging the deal? Yes games lag a lot on IPad, and crashes supposedly happen more on iOS than android. The main thing that crashes is the browser, but it has improved since recent updates.

        • If you would kindly scroll down you'll see: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/143226#comment-1973655

        • I use Chrome for iOS.

        • -3

It doesn't matter what browser you used on the air, they all crash. It was a fault with the latest iPads and iOS 7. Apps like ten play, Netflix ect crash. Racing games that don't lag on the n7 lag on the air, so I'm guessing the hardware isn't fast enough.

        • I'm only comparing my experience in the real world, not benchmarks, games that wouldn't lag on the nexus 7 would lag on the air. I'm not the only one to complain about this issue, plenty of forum threads about the iPad air poor gaming performance.

  • is this upgradeable to kitkat?

    • +1

yes you get the absolute latest android version FIRST!! with nexus.
by first i mean first out of all the devices running android that are to get the update.

    • It probably runs KitKat out of the box. If not it will auto-update to KitKat in the first boot anyway.

How is this not a dupe of this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/143220

Should I make a post saying Eneloops are 12% off too?

    • if anything, i should be complaining because i mentioned it as a deal in that page. If it stands out, i guess it should be a deal on its own

    • +3

some items are a rip off even with 12% off.

      • +1

      • +1

        Is this deal a rip-off?

If so, perhaps you could explain how.

    • +3

Though I very much agree with you, apparently these sorts of duplicates are allowed. I really don't see why though. Should just be highlighted in the description of the far more popular original post.

    • +3

I don't have the time scavenging up and down the thousands of products listed on DSE on the off-chance a Tablet I wouldn't normally search for is on sale. DSE in particular have almost had daily now 10-12% off deals. This deal made me aware of it, I'll probably buy one, I feel it's warranted.

  • Binglee deal is better extra money for 16gb is worth it and is like $50

    • +1

      But its finished…

  • Model number is 2013 model. Purchased.
