Bear does not cut corners. When they develop new technology, Bear make sure it finds its way into their entire bow lineup. The Encounter is no exception. This lightweight compound bow is heavy on features.

From its smooth drawing and fast E2-Cam spinning on dual sealed ball bearings, to its refined, thinner grip that reduces hand torque and increases accuracy, the Encounter was designed to take fewer bucks from your wallet so you can take more bucks down in the field.

The Bear Encounter comes fully loaded in a complete ready-to-hunt bow package and includes the Bear Encounter, with greater maneouvrability in the field and the shortest axle-to-axle measurement and lightest weight.

And when you compare this bow - feature for feature - to any comparably priced bow on the market, the Encounter takes performance above price to a new level. Yet a 7.25" brace height allows this bow to retain a high degree of forgiveness. It's every bit a Bear bow.

Trophy Ridge Whisker Biscuit arrow rest, black with brown fibres to cradle the arrow, providing complete arrow support so your arrow stays put even after knocking, shaking or dropping your bow. At the shot, they allow the arrow to pass through without fletching damage. Please note camo model is shown for illustration only.

Trophy Ridge 3 pin fibre optic sight black, 3 light-gathering pins, sight level, contrast glow ring, can be adjusted for right or left hand use.

String Peep Sight with 5 mm diameter hole, fits horizontally in bowstring.

Trophy Ridge Bow Quiver, holds either carbon or aluminium arrows. It features a lightweight durable moulded stem and a camo hood. There is a second retainer bar and cut away hood to ease removal and installation of your arrows. Quiver holds arrows with fixed or mechanical broadheads inside a replaceable, sound dampening hood.

Trophy Ridge Stabiliser with braided bow sling draws vibration out of the bow and absorbs it like a sponge.

  • is this for shooting bears?

    • +1

Yes, but if you don't take it down in one hit the bear could counterattack with extreme prejudice.

For all the budding Dovahkiins, bring down a dragon in one shot.

I tried, but I ended up shooting an adventurer in the knee..

      • +1

I used to be that adventurer… then i took your arrow in the knee

If it legal to use in the backyard

    • +1

      Only if you Encounter Bears.

      • "Bear" is the brand.

    • Legally I'm not aware of anything which would prevent you from shooting in your own backyard. The tricky bit is if something does happen, you can get into some serious trouble. It's just not worth the potential hassle.

There are plenty of ranges around, go use one.

    • This is definitely not recommended.

    • Are you a beginner archer, or one with years of experience? If you are a beginner I wouldn't even think about breaking the law. All it takes is an arrow not docked perfectly, a lapse in concentration, a gust of wind and your arrow is sent off target. Save it for the archery range.

    • Don't know if it is legal but it would be very stupid to even try. Unless your backyard is 10 acres of cleared farmland with no living things in the way I wouldn't consider this at all. Join a club and go to their range!

  • Hmm, better not get one. Might be tempted to bring down that murder of crows living in the park across the road…

  • You might wish to check if you need to be a member of an archery club to own a bow.
    I found conflicting reports

    • You don't need a license for the hardware. However, you do need a license to hunt(on state property) only.

    • for Qld, you need a category M licence for a crossbow. No licence required for a bow such as this one.

      Pistol crossbows are entirely prohibited.

      • Are they prohibited or do you need a license?

        • in NSW a pistol crossbow are definitely a prohibited weapon.

A normal crossbow can be obtained, but is ONLY legal for use at a range.

I'd never get one, but +1 for coolness..

  • How effective are the arrows against hordes of zombies? It obviously has the advantage of range, but i've heard that bludgeoning weapons like maces are often more effective.

    • Do you really want to get in melee range of a zombie?

  • +1

Alright sounds super cool even though I have no idea how to use it… the difficult part is convincing the other half.

    • buy first then leave it later

      • He might need to hide it from her in the man cave.

  • just found out there is no arrow holder and aiming ring ? whatever u call it

    • Actually, it does include the whisker biscuit arrow rest and fibre optic sight(see description).
