  • is it available at Kmart Casula? Those labels stating it's 'Polarised' is that just a fake label from China?

Never wear cheap sunglasses - they may block UV as stated but the plastic lens and its poor curvature will be detrimental to your eyesight in the future.

This is true. I lost sight in one eye due wearing K-Mart sunglasses *_o

        Brilliant 0_*

      • I've never worn sunglasses in my life and work outside and have no problems with my eyes.

you cant help it when your driving your car directly at the sun of an afternoon and the sun viser doesnt help.

        • It can cause you problems down the track. Sunglasses can protect not only your eyes but the delicate skin around your eyes.

        • really? (to brongz) 1st time i heard someone mentioned positive about it.

My personal experience with them was bad….. never step in again, wasted 2 hours of my time. One staff promised that the particular whole shelf is covered by my insurance with no out of pocket, but he was busy and ask me to wait. When another was free, she just said that guy is new and got it totally wrong, it will cost you 300+ ……
never even apologize wasting my time.

Walk across to spec saver and got a branded one for free…..

Same experience from my friend too…… and he swear he will never walk in too……

We also used to have an ozone layer, once upon a time.

        • Ah the beauty of cancer, its all about rolling the dice and playing the odds, I prefer to keep my risk as low as possible.

Plus polarising lenses are easy on the eyes especially for driving.

      • +1

        Erm how does that happen?

    • There was this theory about how sunglasses are bad for you because your pupils are dilated in it. Light still enters from the side, top, and bottom.

It may interfere with adaptation, and over time lose it's ability.

But these happens with all shades, not just cheapo ones.

Present in Vic too, except they are marked down. Other styles available too.

I prefer getting the cancer council polarised sunnies for $40. At least they're made by the same company as Ray bans (Luxotica).

Good glasses too, cover a lot of your eyes and there are many styles. Good find though OP.

Wearing polarised sunnies is like seeing in HD.

    • Did not know that they were same manufacturer, thanks!

    • sorry - they are not made by the same company as Ray Bans. Although the company that makes any particular brand can change with time, different brands owned by the same company are most certainly made in different factories, with different attention to detail, different components, different tolerance to manufacturer faults, and definitely different end result quality.

This is not to say that good quality polarised sunglasses are not available cheaply.

If you have a pair of sunnies that you want tested, take them to your local reputable independent optometrist and they can test them for you and make sure they are proper UV protecting sunnies, and proper polarised lenses.

PS - if you have read this far and have not read zhenjie's hilarious comment above - it is an instant hall-of-famer.

Not that great of a deal. Plenty of cheap rubbish sunnies around for $3 from the markets, eBay or what have you.

I had necessary lens replacement at age 62 in both eyes, each done about 6 weeks apart. During those 6 weeks, as my new (plastic) lens worked, I was absolutely stunned by the 'clarity' of the new lens, as I closed each eye in turn. The eye doc said, esp. in Australia where the sun is so bright so often, after about 35, our lens gradually go 'tea-stain' colour. It's so gradual, we don't even notice. Wrap-around sunnies are the only way to minimise this - as well as cataracts, cancer etc. etc. The 'millions of years' we didn't have sunnies, we lived to be 40 if we were lucky. They're especially important if you have light-coloured eyes, and/or light coloured skin. Wear good ones, or pay later!

Absolutely "wear good ones, or pay later!"

On the news recently a person got a shock of a lifetime getting the cheapy sunnies.

Went to Hurstville KMart last night
None left of this model. Closest model scanned at $8.

    • +2

maybe it did scan at $3, but you couldn't read this properly through the KMart sunnies you were wearing at the time!

  • Heaps left at blacktown.. got myself same as OP's and aviators ($6)

Has anybody found any wayfarer style ones that are polarised?

  • Still on special, picked up 2 at greensbourgh kmart today. There are just a few of the styles that are polarised, figure they are clearing out these as the rest are UV only around 6-12 bucks

  • Bought the last pair at Kmart Hornsby, NSW.

    None left at Kmart WoyWoy.

    • -1

      Got the last pair?

Then I guess that Horatio won't find them, coz they'll be out of sight……. and……
