If you have a half decent car, dont join up in advance. If something goes wrong then you join on the spot. It costs $120 plus the yearly charge ($105) and joining fee ($55), but since the yearly fee is $105, you only have to go a year and a bit without breaking down and you have broken even. If your car runs fine for 5 years and then breaks down, you have saved about $400

Although if you have bought a Golf, I would join up

    • I LOLd

i used to be a member but if you have decent knowledge and preperation and the number of a good towie, you dont need it

road services was a crutch to me

i didnt bother with maintenance or look after issues as they were a phone call away

but after sitting on the side of the road for 30 mins i decided to help myself… now i can fix stuff myself

    • Not sure if they have started doing what RACQ are doing; if you call to join RACQ advise that even if you pay on the spot, any services will not be available until the next day… if you want any service the same day it is whatever the full (non-member) cost would be.
