The Experience

Starting bright and early, sightseers board the bus at Pyrmont and travel to scenic Katoomba, the quaint ‘capital’ of the Blue Mountains, via the sleepy townships of Blaxland, Lawson, Wentworth Falls and Leura. With faces pressed firmly to windows, Groupies take in views of the stunning eucalypt-filled gullies and age-old rock formations as they wind their way up through the scenic Blue Mountains.

Disembark and admire the awe-inspiring Three Sisters, and stop at Echo Point for a photo opportunity. Jump back onboard the bus and head further west to Jenolan Caves, entering at the Grand Arch, the hiding place of sparkling limestone caverns. Day trippers pose for photos by the bright Blue Lake, before heading off for an informative, fully-guided cave tour through either the Lucas, Imperial or Chifley Caves. The tour makes a pit stop at the Caves House, originally a 1920s holiday retreat for Sydney’s rich and famous. The bus makes the journey back to the city, dropping people at the Pyrmont pick-up point.

  • fully-guided cave tour through either the Lucas, Imperial or Chifley Caves.

    can choose?

  • Freezing during winter?

    • Actually no, "no matter how hot or cold it is above ground, it's always 16 degrees celsius in the caves".

  • We went to Jenolan Cave last year in early December taking advantage of the AMEX small business deal $20 rebate $10 similar to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/155001 offer now and we got amazing value. have a entertainment voucher and then use their half price promotions.

Got off to Imperial, Off the track and Diamond Cave all half price then using our AMEX cards differently on each transaction. Their hotel also worked with AMEX small business deal last time.

Yeah would be freezing there by now. We stay in the hotel it was quite cold even in december about +10c, if now would might be below zero during the morning. but yes inside the cave is about 16c

Lucas cave would get most value it is the most popular track compare to other tracks but we enjoyed the most off the track tour. We drove ourselves and our trip cover 2 days including visiting blue mountain cost include all meals, petrol, caves entry price, hotel stay, 2.5hours self guide bush walk at mount blue, total roughly $145 for one person and just under $300 for two of us.

so if to compare… this way we go is cheaper and more fun than the groupon deal
