  • Perfect! Some nice deals thanks TT86

    • Yeah I'm quite surprised at some of the deals

  • Some ok stuff there

  • Thanks

  • +58

Woo, grabbed a $150 HDMI cable for $60.

    • Sarcasm or for real?

      • +6

Joke. But some al-right deals here.

        • +2

Yeah but if it was Monster brand…

        • -2

@snappy1234: Belkin make really good quality cables too, the one above is a top of the line 3D one

        • +9

          @TRENT86:

Hi Trent86 - I'm not sure if you get the joke but it stems from Monster selling HDMI cables for huge expense when they do the exact same thing as a $5 one. In the days of analogue signals getting good cables was a priority.

However with HDMI running digitally there is absolutely no reason to spend large amounts on them as the signal is loss-less. Expensive HDMI cables are a con for the uninformed. A $5 HDMI should give you exactly the same picture and audio output as $150 one.

        • @TRENT86:

-Five-layer shielding isolates from outside noise for superior clarity

          • 24k gold-plated connectors create precise contact for low signal loss
            99.99% silver-plated, oxygen-free, solid-copper conductors and high purity,
silver solder joints drastically reduce signal distortion for unrivalled audio and video clarity

My HDMI cable only has four-layer shield and 22k gold-plated connectors:(

This is marketing BS 101. Still, if you can sell a $5 cable for $150, or a 3000% profit, why wouldn't you?

        • +1

@Mr Wowtrousers: I don't know much about hdmi so I was just curious. Thanks for the info though :) What about fibre optic cabling? are they all the same or is that better?

        • +3

          @TRENT86:

Anything digital pretty much works or doesn't.
As long as it meets the standard for whatever speed/bandwidth you need, then paying more only gets you things like nicer plastic on the connectors, nicer quality coverings on the cable itself, and maybe the cable is a bit more durable - but if you're only plugging it in once and leave it untouched, then that doesn't even matter.

        • +2

          @TRENT86:

AFAIK, what damion said above. It's digital. It's either on or off and it is either working or it's not. Triple shielded triaxial silver tipped copper wainwrighting isn't going to make a '1' more of a '1' and a '0' more of a '0' :D

        • +2

@Mr Wowtrousers: Yeah I decided to read an article from cnet which was quite informative so I;m all caught up on cables now. Cheers again:)

        • +4

@snappy1234: I can't wait for monster to do USB cables so that my pictures on the USB drive and print outs are clearer and have better colours

        • @TRENT86:

What about fibre optic cabling? are they all the same or is that better?

Yes, the gold-plated fibre optic cable is the best. lol

seriously, digital cables don't need any of this garbage. Digital = works 100% or 0%

        • @Leecher: Yeah I don't think you needed to add that, clearly above they cleared that up

        • @bigjezza:

I can't wait for monster to do USB cables so that my pictures on the USB drive and print outs are clearer and have better colours

Ah me too ;) Hopefully Gerry can do us a great deal…

        • +2

@speedyjonzalas: Not entirely true. It is true over short distances, but once you start getting into longer distances the difference makes itself well known. I bought a $16 5m hdmi from MSY and pumping a 3d signal through it, it kept cutting out and sparkling. Ended up buying a $60 5m cable from a guy off avs forums which worked perfectly and reinstall it. Also bought a 3m which went behind the wall to my tv, it kept stuttering and I ended up having to get a replacement (seller sent a replacement). So you do sometimes get what you payed for, but you shouldn't be paying more than $60 for 5m (which is a hell of a lot of cable).

        • @Acemeister:
I was about to mention the. Cheap digital cables are usually problematic when you have a long distance.
One or two meters and anything is fine over that unfortunately you need better quality ( but doesn't mean you need $150 ones)¿

  • +9

    BOSE®SoundLink Mini 199.20 deal's back!

Consider about current exchange rate of AUD and USD, I think even US people would like to buy it from AU LOL.

    • +7

Yeah it's a bloody awesome speaker, had it for about 6 months now and love it

      • You can't leave this speaker on in standby mode right? You have to physically turn it on every time you want to use it?

        • Yes you have to turn it on when you want to use it but from then you don't have to touch it

  • Cloudstation 1TB Network Storage Drive - sold out

    • Thanks

    • Saw some on holidays in Maroochydoore. Called them up and stil had 2 so sent my sister who grabbed them for me.

      May pay to phone around.

  • 2TB gone.
Boombox gone, missed out by 1 sec

  • Darn they had some cheap 500GB drives! Might go suss out Myer in store this morning to see if they have any hidden on shelves :D

  • Great! Been wanting to buy House of marley one foundation wireless speaker.

  • +3

Thanks Trent for the effort, legend!

    Excellent prices on Panasonic TH60AS700A 60" and SamsungUA55HU7000 55".

  • Not to many items that are 80% off

  • I'm after a good toaster & a blender and there is nothing I like :(((

  • +2

thanks OP for the great posting. not sure if this is part of the sale but surely this one is good for great laugh
    http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/electrical/storage-netwo…

  • -1

The Panasonic TH60AS700A 60 TV is only a $54 and $69 saving from elsewhere, not $400

    • That a saving of $400 from Myer you will probably find the other store have it on sale too

    • +2

I think the ACCC should ban companies from advertising prices up to X% off, and if they are going to advertise X% off then it must be the minimum % they are prepare to offer.

  • +1

thanks OP, was about to get the SG3 TAB 8, you just saved me about $50!

    • I was looking at this too but worried dual core might be too old tech to run latest apps smoothly? Also Note 8 (quad core, 2GB ram) was on sale for around $200 a while ago, so might be worth waiting for that deal again?

      • Tab 8 don't you mean, ive never seen the Note 8" cheaper than $288

    • +2
      • Good thinking, I hope billy bob sees your post

      • My local OW won't price match 'specials' prices .. :(

        • +5

They have to it's their policy, if another retailer has an identical product at a cheaper price in stock they have to beat it by 5%
          http://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/lowest-pr…

        • +3

Lol typical OW. Did they tell you they only price match competitor price that is higher than theirs?

        • @TRENT86:

What items are excluded from the LPG?
Non identical products and services (inclusive of non identical warranties)
Package deals i.e. printer and computer bundles
          Cash back and coupon offers
          Resellers
          Customer special orders
          Contract Pricing
          Competitor clearance products

As this is a sale, not clearance, their policy is to match it. You're not being 'that guy' by pointing this out as their store isn't following policy. Definitely follow up Ashpete.

        • @tetsuma: What are you going on about? Your repeating what I said I put the link there to show all the terms

        • +1

          @TRENT86:
          It's pretty simple, Trent.
I'm quoting the exact rules, pointing out that it isn't a clearance in case the staff rebut him and giving the guy a little more to walk into the store with. The sort of people who run a store like Ashpete's local OW really annoy me.

The quote of the conditions was to point out a lack of any fine print overruling the price matching which you didn't cover(outside of a link) . This was support for the lad and in the spirit of a bargain and had nothing to do with you.

If you're still confused, Pm me.

        • @tetsuma: Yeah I get what your saying but it think he could have handled clicking a link for the info. Anyways thanks for adding to it

  • Possibly worth waiting, 1.5 dual core should be ok, I've been reasearching for days and still great reviews for the tab 3 on amazon etc, got mine for the kids & as a remote for xbmc htpc so I think it should be good, also less cores should equal better battery performance which I need as a remote - from the research I've done over the past 24hrs this is the best deal around for this unit :)

  • Crayons colour studio sold out.

    • Thanks :)

  • +3

Thanks OP, just grabbed myself a Bose Soundlink III :)

  • Bose Soundlink Mini vs SoundLink Speaker III ?

  • +1

Ugh, why doesn't myer accept gift card as a payment option online :(

    • They said it's in the terms and conditions on their gift cards.

  • The Canon EOS 100D seems to be a good deal, can anyone recommend this or an alternative for a beginner DSLR?

    • +2
    • Not as good as previous deal. Canon Cash back 150 Dollar of 100D just closed yesterday.

It was cheaper previously with cash back.

    • Great camera. No idea why Myer would ever consider stocking a 'body only' pack. Speciality camera stores, sure but how many people would think to check Myer for a 'body' purchase?

They would have had a much easier time selling this (for more) if it was the kit lens model.

  • My impression is Myer always sells something they thought worth that much.

    • That's why these deals are good because we never see these kids of deals from Myer, it's usually the crap 15% off.

  • Is the Sony reader worth it or best spending the extra on a paperwhite?

    • which sony one, the reader, or the touch wifi? there are 2 up there

      • I was looking at the WiFi model

        • +1

Ok the resolution is the same 1024x768 Ram is same @ 2Gb Both are touch, both are 16 lvl greyscale only thing I can tell there is a difference with is the sony one has a micro sd slot and I don't think the kindle does
          Sony specs
          Kindle

    • +1

Biggest difference between the Kindle and the Sony is weather you want to be in the Amazon Garden with mobi format or the Sony world with epubs. I was already an epubber so for me it was a choice between the Sony t3 or waiting for the Kobo H20 I ended up grabbing the red T3 it's a nice device and a good saving.

  • UE mini boombox at $50 is a steal, no colour options though :(

    • thought i'd try my luck at the city shopfront during lunch hour…
and it was a fruitful trip, did not come back empty-handed.

$40 after the 20% instore discount.
      http://1drv.ms/1pFdTNp

Last of its kind, the rest of the shelf was stacked with the newer version going for $79.95.

      • so they only had the red in store too?

        • of the older version yes, plenty of the new ones @ $79.95.

in fact the red was the only one from the old batch…

    • Went to order this but there was no option to pick up anywhere near me.
Instead I went to Office Works and they priced matched and for any colour.
I got the green one and ended up costing $47.50!!!
It goes sooo loud for such a small thing.

hahahaha what a deal, limited stock so be quick ;)

  • +1

Managed to get the BOSE SoundLink Mini for $190 at JB Hifi because of Myer's discount.

  • Sale on some Crumpler stuff including the 5 million dollar home: http://www.myer.com.au/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchDispl…

    • If you are in Melb, the 5 mil bag sells for cheaper at the 2 Crumpler outlets.
I remember them being around $70 there.

      • Nevermind. Just found out the surplus stores are Highpoint and Brighton. Thanks for the tip!

  • +1

These are a great price! I've been monitoring these for a while and this is the cheapest I've seen from a store front retailer. I picked up a pair from the Castle Hill store and seems like the price on these goes until Oct 26, as per the little docket on them in store.

Picked up a 3TB external hdd for $60 from eastland store
    Last one

    • USB 2 or 3?

    • Did you mean 2TB?

    • did they make a mistake, or give it to you knowingly?

because the one that sold out online was the 2tb usb3 for $60

  • Canon cashback expired yesterday… wish this promo was 1 day earlier, it will be goo deal on 100D

  • I've done an impulse-buy of a red Mobile Boombox thinking it was the Mini Boombox. Anyone in Melbourne want it? Save me the hassle of returning. Cheers.

    • I would check reviews on that one against the boombox first

    • +1

      assume its free :)

      • that would be an "impulse assumption" ;^)

  • Is the ua55uh7000 is the best deal for 55" 4k tv? Is it worth to buy 4k tv now?
