Amiga Forever and C64 Forever Available Together for USD $9.95 (78% Discount)

600

Amiga Forever & C64 Forever emulators are on special for the US "Cyber Monday" shopping event. Normally $29.95 and $14.95 each — available together under this deal for $9.95.

They are freeware emulators (with a lot of custom development on top) packaged up with legally licensed system ROMs as well as hundreds of games originally available for those systems and ready for simple installation on Windows - none of the normal configuration required. They're Windows 7 compliant.

More info on both…

You can also download practically every game released for these platforms from various abandonware sites (legality a little grey of course, unlike the games that actually come as part of this bundle.)

It appears that the "Amiga Forever" software can be copied to a bootable ISO DVD which doesn't require a Windows Host OS. This would be helpful for Apple Mac or Linux users that are interested in this software.

It is unclear whether "C64 Forever" offers this capability too.

    • This software also allows you to connect the Amiga to your PC and copy over all those 100's of discs you have stored away somewhere, by treating the Amiga as a slave drive.

Great way to preserve your collection forever. This software is well worth the $10 you'll pay for it. Just the fact that you get legal ROMS is enough, but its functionality is huge as well.

If you're a C64 and Amiga lover from way back, buy this!
For $10 you cant go wrong.

      Awesome post OP, great find.

  • Works great thanks

  • A lot of games on the Amiga required a joystick to use. Anyone know if they support controllers?

    • I wonder if something like Xpadder could be used with it? I've never actually used it though so have no idea if it could work for it or not.

my xbox 360 controller plugs into pc usb port with no mods needed, so i can play Speedball2 all day and get blisters like old times:).

Awesome. Glad to hear that there are others around who remember the fun of Speedball II. We used to work up a sweat playing and blisters were common! What a great game. :)

I still have both my Wilo Command joysticks for nostalgia purposes - http://classicgameroom.com/vaultpages/vaultpage/atari-2600-w…

        • I bought a specific Joystick just for speedball 2 as the Wico COmmand Sticks were hurting my hand too much. Still got it in the shed somewhere

  • Thanks. Looks good :)

          (ST)

  • Nope, it doesn't work. The link above "Go to Deal" is not working for me.

    • takes me to page which looks like pic shown above

      • It appears that there are issues with external web site within iiNet network hence my problems connecting to the deal. iiNet service stinks. My "relationship" with them will be short lived, will have to find a better NBN ISP.

        • Wow. That's completely the opposite to iiNet experience I've had and all my customers who are with iiNet.

Good luck trying to find a better ISP seeing as though they were actually voted best ISP of 2013:

          http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2013/12/gizmodo-awards-2013-best-i…

Everyone I know loves them. Longest I've ever waited needing to speak to them is about 8 minutes, usually no waiting time and I always speak to an Australian or New Zealander which is good as I can actually understand them.

You're the first I've heard of bad service. Believe me, dealing with a LOT of ISPs when I'm on-site at customers, I don't think you realize how bad service can get?

        • No similar problems here, with iiNet as well.

And I doubt iiNet (or any other ISP in AU) are blocking certain sites???

Still have my Amiga Basic manuals :)
Yeah, ok, fat lot of good they do me now…
It was easier than Assembly on the Apple.

They really didn't package Marble Madness with this ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marble_Madness

As mentioned in previous post, anyone actually do any disk backups ? and which was the best method ?

Ahh, all is forgiven. Arkanoid is in there.
Still remember the look on my ex's face when I told her I was on a high score when she went into labour with our firstborn.

    • GOLD!! :-) I was made to wait outside the theatre before my wife's caesarian while they did the spinal anaesthetic procedure, and I couldn't think of anything else to do while I waited for the birth of our precious baby child to but play Canabalt on my iPhone…!

What's the benefit of this over UAE?

    PS Super Cars II FTW!

    • +1

A huge amount of custom development… the interface has a list of Amiga games with 'click to play' functionality - no config required. And every Amiga Workbench version ever released, etc. It would be fair to say that while the underlying emulator is UAE, that's probably only 30% of the functionality of the overall package.

      • +1

UAE is just an emulator… albeit a great one :).

Amiga Forever is a much more powerful software suite though. Also allows you to connect the Amiga to the PC via an easy to use GUI (which you would otherwise have to know commands for in Amiga-Dos and MS-Dos).

Terrific program… I paid double this years ago and thought it was great value then!
For $10, and you get C64 as well…. wow.

  • +1

wow I feel old… I actually remember playing a C64 at a friends house when we wagged school together..

    • Did your friend have a tape drive, where you had to wait half an hour for Pitfall to load? Or did he have one of those fancy 5.25" drives that loaded it in like a minute!

True pain is waiting 30min for a game to load, only to see the welcome screen and then it freezes :).

      Thats gaming!

While we're all in a nostalgic mood… are you keeping up with the Commodore? Because the Commodore is keeping up with you!

  • To be honest I remember buying this ages ago and well was quite unimpressed.

Not with the software but the shop as my purchase never worked from memory and well they never got back to me when I put in a support request. You just reminded me I should chase it up.

  • Emulators are free, there are 100's of them

    • +1

      The ROMS arent though.

(and yes, just like movies you can download online- you 'can' get ROMS… but they are just as legal as those movies you get)

And this isnt just an emulator.

  • This deal is still active… not sure for how much longer…
