  • DSE won't price match.

You're probably right. Their price matching policy depends on whether it's a full moon or not.

      • From their T&Cs:

        1. Price must not be below our cost price.

For a $50 product they'll state their cost price is ~$30.

      Beat me by 4 min

    • The links you've posted aren't for USB3 drives though?

    • Top one is only USB 2. I couldn't find details for the second link.

    • These are usb 2.0, I own several of those and it's super slow

That's a negative on the deal ghost rider.

    $3.79 for 8Gb here (5 for $18.95) - http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/toshiba-8gb-u…
    $4 here (5 for $20) - http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sandisk-cruzer-blade-8gb-usb-2467023?cm_cr=No+Campaign--Web+Activity--Featured+Product+Category+Slider--Widget_CatalogEntryRecommendation_3074457345618265207--Cruzer+Blade+8GB+USB-productNameLink&DM_PersistentCookieCreated=true

The old HN tactic of throwing everything in a bin to create the illusion its a bargain…

As above, the links you posted are not for USB 3 drives.

    • +2

      Are they USB 3?

      • -1

        Fair call - I missed that :)

        • +2

Well, then you could revoke your negative before the community does it for you…

        • +1

You can also retract your neg instead of waiting for people to neg your comment

        • @CodeXD:
nah - it's more fun to neg to oblivion

        • @fattyboombatty:

I couldn't figure out how to do it…

Hang on, those drives are USB 2.0 - the HN ones are USB 3??

      That's a reasonable difference.

  • Just tried to find out the read/write speeds for this drive. On their website it appears that it's only the 64GB & 128GB sizes that are USB 3? http://www.emtec-international.com/en-us/C410-usb-flash.

    • Right, that's the impression I got too: 8GB only comes in USB2. To make it more confusing, the HN picture shows a mixed capacity pack, which I'm assuming is wrong.

    • I just went off the HN description which is USB3. The link you found is for mixed capacity usb2 which is a different product. I'm not saying you're wrong, but that link doesn't help one way or another.

      • I'm not saying it's right or wrong mate. I just looked up the C410 Emtec that HN says they are. Knowing the flogs at HN, I just assume they are wrong :).

  • These are not the same as the ones DS are selling http://www.dicksmith.com.au/usb-hard-drives/emtec-flashdrive…. Note the ones DS are selling are all marked with an 8 ie 8GB, these are maked 2,4,8,16,32 which represent their respective GB capacity.

    • Yeah I noticed that too. The photo HN are using must be wrong.

Just a head's-up: if they're the same Emtec as DSE- I've had really bad luck with them. I bought them for spares for me & the kids & the failure rate was pretty high (as-in, more than 1/2 died within a few months). By comparison, the Lexar & Sandisk keep going for years (for me). Even my old 4GB Toshiba is still going strong & I bought it years ago & use it all the time for data transfers.

    FYI

  • The Sandisk one from OW is better and more reliable ?
