Yet another HD TV that only goes to 1024 x 768 - Not a bargain or a deal in my books… shouldn't using the letters HD in its name!

    • There's HD (720p) and there's Full HD (1080p). It's a little confusing for those that aren't aware.

  • HD = 1024 x 768???

my old CRT is HD TV screen!! :-D

    • Yes, your old CRT would be HD-compatible. This is because old CRT screens has flexible resolutions, depending on what video cards you use. It would, however, NOT be a HDTV screen unless it has a HD tuner in it.

  • Response Time: 16ms

Wouldn't that be horribly blurry whenever you try to watch sports or action movies?

    • I think thats a misprint no way plasma can have such a high response rate

    • Plasma's typically have a response time below 1 ms, they're closer to CRTs in this aspect than LCDs.

  • great deal I think for a good size tv

  • I used to work for a company that had a vivo rep trying to sell thier product to us. At the time, the vivo looked really bad even when compared to other lower end tv's. Buy at your own risk.

vivo has bad quality compared to other mainstream brands .

you get what you paid 4. but some people dont really care about quality :)

saw this in DSE today, didnt seem that bad for the price. sure some might say, spend a few hundred more and get a better brand. best ive seen other brands like samsung, panasonic, is say just on $1k. for those of you like me just looking for a bedroom tv, not worried about the quality for movies although id say its fine for the odd movie in bed, morning news etc. i also noticed the ps3 connected to it at dse was set to 720p/1080i and 1080p. if thats like my current setup, in the ps3 menu its outputting a 1080p signal if they are all ticked. might pop in again at lunch to triple check this. but 720p is best signal to feed these.
but come on for this price you cant be fussy. and 1024x768 is quite common for 42" plasmas. look at the last gen 42" pioneer, series 8 kuro, it was 1024x768 and was fine. still technically higher than most HD CRTs nd from a certain viewing distant 1080p on 42" makes didly squat.

    • If your putting a 42" TV in your bedroom,
what do you have in your living room?

that would be a pretty mean tv, but LCD's are pretty crap, ive owned a few and a few plasmas. i have 82" HD projector set up in my living room, full time 100% used for TV, Movies and Games.
trust me a 42" gets small. even my work mate that got his first flat panel a few months back, and went for a Panasonic 42" G10. i told him get at least a 50" first off and he didnt agree. now what happens, i tell him about this deal and he said "yeah I'm thinking I might get a bigger tv and use this one in the bedroom, it's smaller than I thought"….well buddy, i do have experience owning flatpanels the last 5 years and warned him.
you can tell yourself over and over a 42" is plenty, everyone I know that gets a flat panel wants somethign bigger very soon after if they have a 42"

went and played around with the tv at DSE again today for a squiz. It has a bad power rating, but really all these power meters mean $40 a year or something. it does support 1080p, i set the PS3 connected to 1080p and pressed the menu button and voila, it said 1080p, when the game fired up it said 720p. really the picture seemed fine for the price
