  • Is this better than the Acer one in the other post??

    • +1

This one has bigger hard drive and looks to have a numeric keypad like a standard keyboard. I'd get this if I was buying one

    • and dedicated graphics..?

    • MSI: 320GB / ATI mid-range GFX / No HDMI / Extra $15 shipping / only 2GB RAM / 2 yr Warranty
      Acer: 250GB / Intel on-board GFX / HDMI / Extra $25 for Win 7 upgrade / 3GB RAM / 1 yr Warranty / wait for cashback ?

      Take your pick

  • how much ram?

A great price/specification deal. Looks to have a expresscard slot too making it a good candidate to add a DIY ViDock to give 3dmark06 between 5.4k-10k (HD4670/HD5770) http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5324240

I'm not sure it has an express card slot, our information said no. Confirming with manufacturer.

      Edit: Definite No.

    • NO ExpressCard i think due to chipset doesn't support.

      • +1

I presume it uses a mini pci-e card for the wifi. If so, then can still do a mPCIe based DIY ViDock. It's just that expresscard is a little bit more convenient to attach/remove and you don't lose wifi facilities. If system has two active real mPCIe slots (WWAN ones tend to be USB only), then can DIY ViDock and wifi simultaneously.

Regardless, this is a great deal for the price.
I believe too the SIS chipset supports 1066Mhz FSB CPUs like P8400, allowing a CPU upgrade. Tha tis something other budget GL40 chipset systems don't support.

The problem is chipset, which affect the stability of the laptop, this laptop use rare and cheap SIS 672DX+SIS 968, which obviously is a weak point. COTD should also advertise this spec on their web, but they didn't. They try to hide and ignore this spec, which is the main reason that laptop selling cheap, why?

    • +4

I will gladly have the ad changed to advertise this chipset…..

      We have nothing to hide.

not only chipset, "ATi Mobility Radeon HD3410 Dedicated Graphics with 512MB memory." Is the 512M Memory also dedicated?

  • -1

Very good value because of sis chipset …..
You won't get an intel chipset with the same specs for this money .

    • -2

Do you know this chipset is originally designed for PC desktop, not for notebook PC, that's the reason this notebook run out battery very quick.

  • how long would battery last approx? i am looking at buying one for my 14 year old son. This will be his first laptop so will be for homework (I hope) and no doubt downloading music, surfing the web etc - seems to be a good price!

just wait one more month boys.* trust me . ONE MORE MONTH :)

*(no hard evidence to support this statement)

    • was thinking the same thing ;)

    • Huh? What are we talking about here?
Care to share this inside secret? :)

      • nope sorry

        • +1

          Ah like that is it……

Making the statement and commenting on it without disclosing any information on a bargain website isn't helpful for those here trying to find… a bargain… but suit yourself.

ok i will wait 1 more month

  • just bought two of these. you'd be extremely foolish to believe this is not a good deal for such a well specced laptop below $600.
cannot go wrong at all. Harvey Norman etc are selling these specced laptops for $900+

  • This sales is back on for today… but almost gone again
