    • So which one would work? e-giftcard or physical gift cards mail to you?

      • +1

Cashrewards won't give you cashback for gift card purchases on DJ (see the "special terms" link).

Also, as @grasstown mentioned above, it might not work on egiftcards as it is on a different shopping cart to the rest of DJ.

    • I wonder how the signup works? I couldn't see this offer on my dj online account

  • Can you only redeem the offer once on each card?

  • +1

Fantastic! Now need to buy some bargains from hardly normal for my overaeas trip to score the GST refund.

  • Does this work for NAB gold Qantas Amex CC?

    • Should work fine if you register with these links.

  • FINALLY!!! waiting for AMEX deals for agessssss.!!

  • +1

Will this work for 7-11 petrol?
    Petrol so expensive these days…

    • +1

Yes. got mine on 7-11 location

      • Thank you

      • Can you fill up $30 and use 2 amex card to pay $15 separately ? Will it works ?

        • You can but try. The operator might look at you funny, and at worse they won't accept it but you'd still get $5 off. Better than a 4cpl discount voucher or a kick up the arse.

        • +3

@zzyss: just tried at 7-11 yes it works with 2 cards , separate payment $15 each

        • +1

Yup, I used 2 to pay at the Aspley 7-11 last week.

  • good, thanks

  • can you pay with 2 amex cards on DJ online?

    • +2

      No

      Source: I work for DJs

  • +1

Many 7-11s in Melb didn't take amex couple of years back. Are they more accepted now?

    • +2

If they have the big-ass POS terminal then they probably will. But you can't tap - even if it has the chip you still have to insert the card.

Also, last time there was something like this (Shop Small) some 7-Elevens started charging a surcharge on Amex cards. Still good value though.

      • There are still a few 7-elevens that don't take Amexes though. Speaking of Amexes, DJs is hilarious. They peddle DJ Amex, yet their machines don't work well with Amexes.

  • great offers thanks!

  • Thsnks OP.

  • about friggin time :)

  • Got both 7Eleven and McDonalds offers for my CBA AMEX Platinum card! Thanks OP.

  • +7

Myki top-ups at 7-eleven for Melbourne folk

    • Just tried and received email confirmation within 1hour, cheers mate

  • How many times you can use card at each Retailer?

    • once per card

    • +1

      ..until you max out

  • +11

Received immediate confirmation email after purchasing $100 CM gift card at LL. Thanks again OP.

    • N experience with CM giftcards, can they be used on more than one transaction?

      • +1

Yes can be used multiple times

        • +1

          And at multiple retailers

    • Hmm but the T&Cs say it excludes gift cards. My conscience is telling me not to do it. XD

Have you actually received the statement credit now?

      • Many of us have (including me)

      • Yes. Read back in all the previous Amex promotions. The purchase of gift cards has always been excluded but I don't recall anyone saying that they've never received their statement credit.

  • Could not register through direct links using Internet Explorer but worked with Chrome. Thanks OP.

    • +5

Shouldn't have been using IE in the first place.

      • True :)

  • Does this work for buying physical gift cards from David Jones online?

    • It should as someone has mentioned above. There is a $5 postage charge (minimum) for the physical card and you can use a maximum of 5 gift cards for payment on the DJ website.

      • I thought someone above said they USED to work for purchasing David Jones eGift Cards? As far as I know, you would never qualify for these AMEX promos when purchasing any physical gift cards online.

        • Hopefully someone will confirm one way or the other, otherwise I'm just going to buy one and see what happens.

        • @illumination: I'll try in the next day or 2 and see what happens.

        • @unity1: Cool. Let us know how you go! Thanks.

        • @illumination: Works. See Overtime2000 post below

        • @unity1: Anyone has tried to get an egift (DJ online) and got the credit back

My comment you link says refers to physical cards working in the past. My earlier comment on that chain is I don't think ecards work as they go to different cart.

    • +8

I can confirm this now. Just tried it

I have 2 offers on my amex
spend $200 on DJ online get $40 credit
and another spend $50 at any DJ get $15 credit

So I went to DJ online and ordered a $200 physical gift card
Shipping was free for some reason when I chose National express delivery instead of standard shipping (which weirdly costs $5)
      Checked out

Wahlah - 2 separate emails instantly saying I will get $40 and $15 dollars credit

Pretty good for anyone with multiple Amexes to stock up on DJ cards.
For example - you could get 1000 worth of DJ cards - and purchase a iphone 6, would only cost you 800 bucks.

I also put in the QANTAS code - not sure if I will get the $25 gift card for the mothers day promotion thing for spending over $150. Havent received any email yet.

      • +1

Thanks Mate, just got both Amex confirmations too.
Qantas code states excludes gift cards (but you never know). Maybe best to go through Qantas Mall to "EARN 5 POINTS PER $1" so you get 1000 points which converts too about $6.00.

      • Just tried it and looks like it worked.
Got email confirmations from both AMEX and Djs about my $200 GC and $40 statement credit.
Also got the free delivery when I selected National Express delivery, so I should receive GC tomorrow.

      • You gave me a "oh nooooo" moment just then as I didn't used the QANTAS code but T&C says excludes gift cards. Bit relieved now. I would have put in though if I'd known about it.

        • its still worth a try i suppose
seems like excludes gift cards doesnt mean much as we've found out

        • @Overtime2000:

Have you actually received the statement credit now?

        • +1

          @inherentchoice:

yes, received both last week, $40 and $15 on a $200 gift card purchase

      • Not getting free express postage anymore. But it did work yesterday so thanks for the tip.

      • Has anyone else got the $15 gift card email, as they are charge $5 for shipping now. Just wondering if it's worth while.

  • +1

gift cards are excluded from david jones offer.

  • Do these offers work on the low-rate (no annual fee) card?

I just got an Amex, direct issue, not through a bank. It's not working. But it's the low rate Amex card which doesn't have an annual fee. Not sure if that is why. Direct links not working either.

    • I was able to activate the offers on a low rate amex (no annual fee) card.

      • Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

  • Hi guys,

I have a question with the cash back calculation.
Am thinking to get this iPad Mini 2 32 GB Cellular for my mum http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/ipad-mini-wi…
    $588 less 7% cashreward $41.14
less $40 AMEX Credit back $40.00
less 10% GST TRS claim $53.45 (GST amount as shown at checkout page)
    final price = $453.41 ?
Is this correct? Any sincere help is appreciated. Ta

    • +2

      It is correct.

      • Wouldn't be a better one if you buy online the gift card for entertainment book with 10% off, you get $58.80 off $588.

        • Pretty sure they know when you're buying gift cards online, and you probably won't be getting cash back for either it, or the online purchase made with it.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

I think he means buying the vouchers through Entertainment Book and getting 10% discount using that instead of the Amex cashback, to achieve pretty much the same effect if not marginally better.

        • @zzyss: Nah it wouldn't be. He'd get less than $60 off + the GST, which is over $20 more expensive than the stack calculated above.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

You'd still get Cashrewards 7% by buying eGift card at 10% (~$55 for $550 worth let's say) and using that online, which is > $40 for Amex cashback.

        • @zzyss: Can you get Cashrewards by buying discounted giftcards? Who would pay referrals for 10% off gift cards?

eGift card is just a straight 10%, no?

        • +2

          @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

Ah, OK let me paint the full picture so it's clearer than the patchwork of bits and pieces from previous posts.

          1. Buy $550 worth of eGift cards from Entertainment Book for $495 (10% discount)
          2. Use Cashrewards to buy iPad from DJ's website to get 7% cashback, pay using vouchers plus balance of remaining on whatever.
          3. Take iPad to airport to get GST refund

          The cumulative discounts are:

          1. $55 from Entertainment Book
          2. $41.14 from Cashrewards
          3. $53.45 from TRS

Final price = $438.31 - about $15 cheaper than the original strategy.

        • +1

@zzyss: Thanks zzyss & JHeyebrows! your suggestions are much appreciated
Might try Optus 1st as Unity1 suggested .. looks simpler, rather than getting it with so many steps, if I can't find stocks near my area then I'll try what zzyss suggested.

    • +3

It's only $480 at Optus. Ring your local Optus stores for stock.

      • +2

Bought at Optus, 64GB (Cell) for $528. less TRS will be $480. Win!
        Thanks Unity1

        • +1

          Glad you found one.

    • +1

Make sure that the receipt has the name of the traveller. Under $1000, a name is not required, but if a name is on the receipt it MUST be the one of the traveller, or they will reject it.

      • ** nevermind **

Was saying over $1k needs address, but it's not over $1k.

  • 400

  • 7-11 one, can you top up myki and then will this apply?

    • +1

It should work. I got the statement credit for topping up myki at 7-11 during the Shop Small promotion.

  • +1

Judging by so many likes, more shops should really be accepting AMEX readily…Imagine the traffic they will get..

I personally always prefer to fill up at fuel station which doesn't charge surcharge for Amex (yes caltex starmart you sucks big time)

    • Most shops would but amex charges the shop a certain % for each transaction. Some will pass the surcharge onto you. Some (generally the big companies) will absorb the surcharge.

  • +1

I can see the offers to be saved to card. But why doesn't Amex just activate the offers automatically? Seems like an unnecessary repetition of clicks.

  • cannot use for apple products at HN?
    would they know?

  • +2

Does Supabarn sell any giftcards? It looks like they are one of the major supermarkets, though not many locations?Spend $150 on $200 giftcards, not bad deal!

    • Even better, spend 150 on 3 cards and get 50 credit on statement

      • Provided there are useful giftcards for purchase.

        • Would like to know this too (whether Supabarn has any useful Gift Cards for sale)

        • +3

@illumination: sorry to disappoint you,no giftcards found.

        • @Neoika: Saved me the trip. Thanks!

  • Can you buy gift cards from Liquorland?

    • Yes. Coles Myer Gift Cards.

      • It will still trigger the statement credits right?

  • Whenever I press the Save to Card button, nothing happens. :(

No response, no error message, nothing. Tried with 2 different browsers.

    • I had that. I had to log out and in again, and make sure I didn't have multiple tabs open pointing to the same site (was trying to save time by opening all the offers up in different tabs…)

  • Best bunch of AMEX cashbacks in a long while.. probably best since Shop Small Nov 2014!

Definitely like the idea of 7-11 for Opal recharges and Coles Liquor Land for $100 Coles Myer Gift Cards.

Do Harvey Norman sell any of these versatile Gift Cards? Like WISH Gift Cards or Coles?
