DSE have them for $237 including delivery if you do not have a Bing Lee in your state

You should be aiming lower than $229 - Bing Lee are happy to negotiate :)

Great price though, wasn't sure if Australia would even get the family pack, but we did, and at a very good price.

    • Yes, I suspect there will be some unhappy people who purchased multiple single licences for anything up to $199 each, now only to realise they could have had a 3 pack for $229.

      • At least you will get a keyboard and mouse!

"Microsoft also wanted to ensure it did something for the upgraders who had already purchased three separate Win 7 Home Premium upgrades at $199 each (with the proviso that they were purcahsed on the same credit card before November 30), and if consumers can prove that with receipts, Microsoft will offer three Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop and Mouse keyboard packs as compensation."

  • Good Guys catalog had it advertised for $225 (less for cash).

What an ripoff Microsoft thinks they can charge this kind of price!
In US people payed below $150 for this or under $50 for single non student upgrade pack
Australia is treated like moron LOL

"Australia is treated like moron". Don't have to say anything, do I?

In the USA the family pack sold for $149 which is roughly $160. When you allow for currency fluctuations and other things, $229 (or closer to $200 as I imagine it will be), this is a great deal.

USA had cheap pre-orders. You can't buy a non-student upgrade for less than $50 USD now.

    • We do have a typical markup of anywhere up to 40% on anything tech, computing or electronic related (in direct comparison to the US, especially right now). I believe it was a Sony rep questioned earlier on this year, who simply explained that it was due to different market climates — which is fair enough to an extent. We definitely do get taken for a ride sometimes though. There's not much you can do about it, but suck it up. (Sure, take your business overseas, but hurt the local economy in the long run)

    Buy on ebay for cheeper

99% of eBay ones are illegally sold Technet keys. Don't buy on eBay unless you like being scammed.

    • You'll get a key that is working and passes WGA, but they're not quite legal keys.

$165 at ccpu for people in sydney. http://ccpu.com.au/show_cat.php?cat_id=software

    • +4

Where? They don't even list the family pack SKU.

      • It is there ;) $165 for ONE SINGLE COPY of win7… Not three xD

      Fail.

  • Can 3 mates get together and buy this, and use it at 3 different home addresses? I'm not concerned with legality, it's obviously against the terms & conditions, I'm more interested in the possibility of it. MS will see 3 different IP's contacting the interwebs. It doesn't take a genius to work out very few households have 3 separate IP addys.

    • Legality aside which you have addressed, there is nothing stopping you from using this on 3 different IPs in 3 different continents in the world. MS activation measures do not go as deep as you mentioned. They're trying to catch the real crooks, not what you plan to do. It's against the EULA but they would never know.

    • You could have 3 separate Wireless Broadband connections all in the same house with different IP addresses…
