Only 300+ available? Damnit! I was going to order 4,500!

EDIT Note: MSY have the 1000HE for the same price (but no shipping options). The 1000HE has a much longer battery life, but isn't quite as pretty and doesn't have a fingerprint reader.

the N10 is an Asus notebook. It is not a part of the Asus netbook EEE PC series. This is the reason why
the N10 notebook comes with a 2 year warranty instead of a 1 year warranty which the EEE PC's have.

Asus supplies a free bag and optical mouse with the N10. There are also some other differences

      N10e battery is 6 hours, 1000he is 9.5 hours
the N10e has the 8 second express gate boot up function which allows you to utilise key features such as skype or access to the internet without booting into windows.
The N10e has a PCI express port which allows you to add many different card options to the notebook.
inbuilt with Altec Lansing speakers, fingerprint reader some other features also.

This N10E on offer at MLN is brand new and not refurbished.

      • Thanks for the extra info.

What are the "some other features also"?

Not sure why you said it was brand new and not refurbished, the MSY 1000HE is brand new as well.

        • I have had people ask me if its refurbished or not, so I thought I would just clarify that also.

There are other differences which I would rate as minor such as weight, dimensions and the type of quick access buttons and materials used.

  • hasn't this been $399 for a week or more?

    • According to our twitter announcement it has been $399 since Friday the 15th of Jan 6pm.

      • how does this compare to the BenQ U121 @ Online Computer for an extra $59 + FREE DELIVERY?

        http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…

        • The Benq is actually around $575 if you include Windows XP Home licence (which the Asus includes), this is important if you need a Windows with the machine. I personally would go the Benq with Ubuntu Linux, but if you want Windows on the Netbook the Asus is probably a better buy.

The Benq U121 is a great deal, spec for spec if you are happy to buy Benq,

I am unable to comment on the warranty service for this particular brand.
At this price it is a great offer if you are happy to use Linux and not try to buy and install windows.

    They are both different machines.

  • Do officeworks have this model? I want to buy this Netbook however cant be bothered dealing with a company i have never heard anything of - are they disreputable/shonky?

If Officeworks can cut 5% off the price and i can buy it from a proper shop it would be great.

    Cheers,

    Robbo

    • Whilst you haven't heard of them they have been around for a while and have 4 stores and it would appear decent levels of stock.

  • Does this have a HDMI port and a bluetooth port?

    Have found different models online.

    • Can someone confirm this as I would like to know too! Thanks!

  • I use the ASUS N10J as my netbook and it's great :) Nice size.

  • The N10J has a 256MB Geforce 9300 video card, as well as the onboard Intel GPU. HDMI is there because of the Nvidia card. This unit only has the Intel. As far as netbooks go, this pretty much beats them all, except for the newer ION based units. Excellent build, nice keyboard layout, with large keys. The case iself is finger print resistant, unlike most other coloured netbooks. I've had the LG, MSI WIND, Asus 901, 1000HA/HE, and the Asus N10J beats them all for the reasons outlined above.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Nvidia 9300 on the N10J is quite useless tanks mainly to the underpowered Atom CPU, so this unit without it @ $399 is just perfect imo. You also get the added bonus of a longer battery life.

  • i was very interested in the notebook before. however, at the end i didn't buy it after looked at the real things. It is "TOO BIG" for a 10.1" screen notebook. The case/body itself should able to fit in a 12 inch screen and it looks quite ugly. I think that why MLN rep didn't put the dimension in the above description
    Asus N10j(10.1"): 27.6 x 19.5 x 3.71 cm (W x D x H), 1.4 kg (+-5%)
    Wind U100+(10"): 260(L) X 180(D) X 19-31.5(H)mm
    Benq U121(11.6"): 290 x 209 x 26.4-31.7 (rear) mm

    • Actually, the dimensions you have mentioned above are on the MLN website, so they are not hidden in anyway whatsoever. Just check the link.

      And if you compare it with any other Asus netbook such as the Asus 1000he, which is also a 10" netbook;

The 1000HE is 1 centimetre shorter in width 0.3cm shorter in depth and .19 cms thicker it is also heavier. Therfore it is easy to conclude that the dimensions are not really a deciding factor for this machine, but still all of this information is available for everyone to see online and to decide for themselves. Personally I do not think it is any heavier, thicker, thinner, larger or smaller than any other comparable 10" netbook or notebook in its category.

      1000he dimensions
      266mm(W) x 191.2mm(D) x 28.5mm~ 38mm(H)
      1.45 kg

      Asus N10(10.1”):
      27.6 x 19.5 x 3.71 cm (W x D x H),
      1.4 kg (+-5%)

  • any color to choose from?

  • Absolute low powered 24/7 mini server.
With gigabit ethernet and an option for an eSATA RAID Xpresscard coupled with a port multiplier you got a mega cheap, low powered file server.
    Doubly good with Asterisk.
