In before 'but how are you getting it for that price!' comments ;)

Cheers J, was just thinking I needed some Eneloops for my controllers ;)

    • +1

      More for your XB1 :)

      • 100 units. 1 per store for C&C 😃

        • +1

Most have no stock, around here anyway

        • Either that or first buyer wipes them out. They'll be gone in under a minute.

    • +1

Oh what about "are these the jap eneloop? they have 10% more powerrr"

  • +35

Slow down Dick - let me dump my shares first!

    • Why? Nothing to see here. Move along….

    • +1

Just bin them. Worth nothing anyway.

  • +1

Eneloops temporarily out of stock now… are they saving stock for tomorrow?

    • +14

The employees are holding stock until the last second of the sale for themselves…

      • -7

        thats what i did

  • -6

Wow… batteries have jumped up to $54.98!

When I added to my cart and now on the product page… I guess I missed out! :(

    • +19

Yes you did. Don't bother trying again tomorrow at 9.30am either. ;)

      • Doh! Skim read…. I have been missing all the deals lately so jumped on it straight away!!! Lol!

  • +3

Wait till the weekend guys big things are coming

    • +39

    • goss pls

    • mate said 70% off selected tv's on sat.

      • +3

        like what happened today or..?

      • Bendigo salesman stated that their TV would not be discounted by that much.

        • +2

Yep that's about right - they only have one TV left to sell in Bendigo

    • +23

If yesterdays and todays sale are anything to do by, you have to either be really lucky or most punters can expect dick.

    • +6

      Liquidation sale?

      • Administrators or Receivers ?!

    • +3

Sales Rep told me everything had gone and didn't know what was next. He did however tell me head office had increased his staffing budget significantly. Make of that what you will.

    • Kudos, thanks for that. When I saw Eneloops as a loss leader I worried DkSmith were gaming (us) ozbargain - but if that is in a lead up to a weekend super sale, it's really not so bad

  • +6

Lucky i'm working from home all day tomorrow. have to make sure the spring under my F5 is working!

    • Not fair, I have Uni all day tomorrow :/. I really need like 4 packs of those eneloops

      • +1

To my defense… i'm using that time to 'study' for an exam on saturday…

        • +23

The good part is if you fail your exam at least you got some cheap batteries.

    • tomorrow i'll call in sick

  • +1

    Assuming this is AEST? :~)

    • +3

      AEDT

      • Make me get up at 6:30am to buy batteries… :(

        • Haha, not really sure if they'll adjust the prices of the batteries at that time, we'll see in tomorrow's 8:00am newsletter (5:00am your time :P)

  • +8

OMG DICK SMITH IN TITLE WHATS THE GOSS oh batteries

  • +1

you had me at DICK and Eneloop in title.

    • Some Dicks would need eneloops to vibr… Sorry it's just 7pm.

      • +1

Well he was once known as the electronic Dick.

  • +3

At first glance the Eneloops deal looks great but then when you add the postage cost it works out to be $14.95 so not much of a deal.

    • +1

click and collect option makes it a good deal

      • +2

Yes but you need to find a store that has them in stock.

    • Thats actually still not a bad price for them shipped

  • -2

Man missed out on eneloops :(

  • thanks.

  • +2

Price on Eneloops Tropical 8 Pack Now $54.98 WTF, Dicks Lost his Marballs

  • +1

I wonder how much they gonna sell the fitbit for. Miss it during the previous deal :(

    • +1

      Even @ $50…. It's a pretty bad colour.

  • Doh, I missed the 2Tb hard drives? How much were they? They're now listed as $144!

EDIT - Ugh, it starts tomorrow. Clearly I can't read. :(

  • -6

dick smith are a bunch of (profanity), never buying from them again dont care how cheap it is..

      • +1

nope not me, they dont honor their deals so in my opinion they dont deserve any customers.

        • I read what I said, that was a bit mean…not aimed at you Extreme

    • Really, because of a 20 minute sale?!

    • +3

Thanks! That's one less person to compete with in the morning.

  • +1

$55 standard price for the AA - what is Dick thinking?!

    • +3

Typical dick, not thinking with his head…

    • +1

They sell HDMI cables for $49 in store. They have many more like that. And they wonder why people don't buy from them.

    • No wonder they are in the crapper. Stupid Abboud

  • +1

i feel like this is a bit dangerous, when they want to clear the stock as much as possible with cheap prices, even with below cost price like DSLR, i suggest anyone who have the gift card, better spend it as fast as possible to avoid any unwanted situation…

considering, when they cleared out the stock in a very low price, and not much item left, so, have a higher chance they can close down…

  • +65

Wow only 100 units of Eneloop, things are going to happen:
1 - Thousands of ozbargainers are going to put eneloop into their cart around 9:00am
2 - Turn off all background software to maximise network speeds
3 - At 9:28am hit that F5 as if your playing Test your might on Mortal Kombat
4 - Price changes to $5 and you feel like your half way there.
5 - Proceed to checkout with Paypal and waiting anxiously while those little blue dots circle your page. You think to yourself, this is taking longer than usual.
6 - BOOM, your order is confirmed and you pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
7 - You get the order email confirmation and go back to your normal self.
8 - a few minutes later, whats this! you get another email from Dick smith
9 - An apology email regarding stock unavailability of your order
10 - You want to scream out indecent profanities at dick smith but realise your co works will just think your queer that your angry about missing out on Envelopes because there's plenty of envelopes lying around the office.
11 - Your pissed off for a few hours and plan to boycott dick smith for life.
12 - Few hours later TA post an Ebay 20% Dick smith and you think to yourself, boycotting is for hippies, open up a webpage to check out some deals and your day just got worse.

8 should read… two or three weeks later, you get another email from Dick smith…

    • trust me. I lost a sickie today due 70% off deal today. I did not get even a single thing. Ain't doing that for some time I hope.

      • you sick person….

(sorry i couldn't resist the bad pun!)

      • You're not doing it again for some time you hope? I'm glad you've learnt your lesson!

  • Thats for only online right?

  • +1

I wonder how Dick is feeling these days. First it was his food line in dire straights (https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/25258239/dick-smith-closing-down…) presumably because nobody wants to eat Dick. Now this… I would feel sorry for the bloke (if it wasn't for all the renegs and frustrating non-deals).

    • +10

He probably doesn't care too much since he sold the whole lot to Woolworths in 1982.

      • +1

Sold it for around 6 million dollars

        • I'm just surprised he hasn't changed his name. Smith Dick works just as well.

      • +1

And Woolworths sold it too…its now a listed co. Not a Woolworths subsidiary.

    • +2

you should read the news sometimes

      • +1

Still reputational risk. Even if it is a Woolies house brand (didn't the CEO recently resign) it's his name and his face on the labels.

  • Extra $28 off this computer 2mrw if you want it

Looks like the impatient ozbargainers are more panic than DS.
DS is just toying us with these minor sales before the confirmed Saturday Liquidation sale.

If they are ONLY overstocked by a few hundreds units of those products, do you think they will be in such a big trouble ? NO.
They most likely have a few warehouses full of overstocked Eneloops AA/AAA x8, tens of thousands of 500GB PS4 , etc they overstocked from 2014.

Prediction on Saturday will be PS4 500GB for $199.

Be patient, let DS panic, not us.

    • I was speaking to a floor manager today about this (I still can't believe most are clueless about the sales). Whether more unsold warehouse stock would be transferred to the store by the weekend (in transit). He didn't seem to know but didn't discount it. I'm hoping they send out a newsletter at 5am with the Saturday deals on the morning so we know in advance which stores we should target (based on stock levels for items). If I want consoles I would go to one DS store, if more TVs are delivered and are cut price I would go to a DJs store at open.

      • +1

He didn't seem to know but didn't discount it.

Well, no point waiting then. ;)

    • Can't believe DS overstock so much. If they have too much slow moving items, I guess they will have huge excess and obsolescence provisions. If they sell under cost, further provisions will apply - more accounting loss.

      • +1

If you have been following the news, this is exactly what they are doing and so shares price nosedive.

They were overconfident in 2014 that they could capture the whole market for PS4 console and overstocked tens of thousands of 500GB PS4. Their auditors told them they have no chance to sell those stocks at even cost price and the longer they keep it, the lower the value and no room (no warehouse space and no capital) to start over.

Yes. It is that bad a mess now. And it is not just ps4, eneloop, or ipad, tv…. we are talking about…..Everythings seems to be way way beyond the relistic stock level. They are going to super panic sale this Saturday.

      • ehhh… no. if they have impaired already (which they have - $60m). The loss has already been processed to the P&L. Any sale below cost or whatever will be seen as revenue for the year as the stock has already been impaired to way below cost or nil. Accounting 101.

    • confirmed?

  • Was going to buy the Sony Muteki but no HDMI output only RCA so not grabbing one.
    From Sonys webpage:
    Power Output
    P.M.P.O. 5500W
    Total RMS 500W
    Front (RMS) 250W x2

    Speaker
    Tweeter Unit 6.6cm x2 2Way

    USB Function
    MP3 File Name/ID3Tag Ver. 1.1/ID3Tag Ver. 2.0

    Weight
    Main Unit 14kg

    • Which store and how much?

  • +5

appreciate the effort on the post but limit quantities of 50 and 100 = frustration and disappointment. No thanks

    • Most items in the ad (Fitbit & Sony excluded) are limited to one per customer…

  • +3

    Website will bomb out tmr

  • At what price is the Muteki worth grabbing? What price do you guys think it will go for?
