Umm is this just a rumour or does it actually work also there is no grilld in nsw will this work here

    • +2

Well considering I clearly said it was a rumor, it's a rumor. I'm sure someone will confirm it soon but.

      • I was wondering how a rumour could be a bargain , would have been my next question

dam would have been nice to use this in nsw

        • +2

I just used mine at nandos little burke street…
couple of girls behind me had one as well. (black and white)

the manager was a bit dodgy and made me make one of them a meal as i got the supremo burger, however their web site says "any buger" I could have argued it but was happy enough to get a meal.

they are also doing wraps pitters etc, two for 1.

(basically a warning to watch out for dodgy managers!)

          • +1

@wisc: Wow, can't believe you had to make a meal for the girls, dodgy. Hope they appreciated it. ;)

            • +1

@neil: hahaha, yeah and they weren't even that hot…

              nah didn't check them out… to clarify… they also had a voucher…:P

better? and just so there is no more confusion there girls weren't black and white the voucher was!

              • @wisc: report manager to head office.

  • +12

    Confirmed.

    http://www.nandos.com.au/article.php?newsid=94&newspage=0

Only applies to burgers and wraps, and only in Victoria and Queensland

    • -1

damn no NSW. Edited by Mod :(

      • +1

Yes NSW. The article has been updated.

        • woohoo <3

  • +1

So where can I get a copy of the voucher?

  • +3

AWESOME!!! damn Grill'd this is just classic marketing by Nandos, WELL DONE

  • +1

Looks like i know what i am having for lunch

  • +2

A collegue called up and was confirmed that they are accepting vouchers of Grilled.

Great find. Good on you Nandos.

  • +1

    Wow, do like.

  • +1

Go Nandos! I know where I'll be putting my money :)

  • +2

    Great marketing by nandos, lol

  • +5

    Very, Very clever of Nandos!

they have burger deals regularly so probably replacing one they might have had

but this way, they get the publicity from the whole grilled thing, and they are seen to be the good guys

I am actually impressed - lets hope their promotion goes great guns :P

the voucher is not widely circulated now (its off the page right)

so the numbers will be limited to those spread by the power of the intarwebz and the story will pass from person to person.

    Marketing genius!

  • +2

Oh this says "nationally" can we confirm this - and edit the title

as it would be available in Tasmania etc that don't even have a grilled!

    that would be good :P

oh and lol the website broke ;P

    • +1

Hmm, looks like they changed the article. It did say just QLD & VIC before.
      Title Edited.

      • so WA people can also use this voucher? awesome!! =D

  • +2

Very good work Nandos, although they're not as tasty and as healthy that is some brilliant marketing…

So do no grill'd vouchers work at all, even the official ones?

    • +1

The actual print ones work fine, I grabbed a few of them yesterday and used them. It's just the electronic copies that don't work.

Edit: I assume you are talking about using them at Grill'd. If for Nandos, any version will work.

  • +1

Just curious, is there any relationship between Grill'd and Nandos? Why Nandos stepped up for Grill'd? Same franchise owner?

    • +2

i think they are in competition with each other.
hence you'll think highly of nando's for doing this.

      • why have people neg'd this comment?

        • because its not relivant to this deal. and he has given a neg, again not related directly to this deal.

      • of course there is a relationship. if nando's is in melbourne and grill'd is in melbourne there is a direct competitive link. if nando's was only in joburg and grill'd was only in melbourne THEN there would be no relationship.

    • +2

Nandos not stepping up for Grill'd. Infact it may seems as thought they stab Grill'd in the back.!!! Hooray for NANDOS

  • +2

    Big ups to Nandos!!!!!

  • +3

    Best marketing move EVAR!

  • +2

Just called up Camberwell Nandos, they'll only honour this for Classic Burgers and Classic wraps, and they don't qualify the Classic Double Breast Burger as a Classic burger.

Meh, I suppose you can't look a gift horse in the mouth.

    • +3

You should point it out to them that the Nando's blog post said any burger and any wraps.

    • Least us "yoof" can spell.

    • Better a yoof than a fooy. :)

    • Grill'd have awesome burgers, better than Nandos, but you cannot say that is a great deal considering that Grill'd pulled the pin on the deal. What am I to do with the 1000's of printed Grill'd coupons then??

      • eat them????

    • Fair(ish) comment (the bit about being bigger), but doesn't mean it's a bad deal.

    • Please retrict your vote to the deal!

    • Negative vote because???

    • "so can afford to take on Melbourne’s Grill’d that is just trying to get off the ground."

Awww boo hoo! They should have a law against that, hey?

    • Wow, 44 neg votes on a comment. This has to be a record.

  • +1

    hot: nandos not: grill'd

  • +5

lol I bet grill'd are wishing they honoured the vouchers now…

  • +3

    I love Nandos :)

Well done Marketing Department! If I was wearing a hat I would take it off to you.

  • +2

Well, given that the voucher is only valid for about 2 weeks, Grill'd probably should have let it slide. Unfortunately for them, now they look bad and Nando gets good PR.

  • +1

Grill'd should start going into damage control mode now and start honouring their vouchers. I feel sorry for their PR dept.

    • +1

too right its interesting the way marketing can turn when your not aware of your market

      go nando's

    • hello cuz.

      • :P

  • +1

Since the original Grill'd voucher was marketed at students. Do we need a Student card to use this?

  • +1

An absolute master-stroke of genius from their marketing dept… Genius!

  • Nando's is good…yumm

  • Haha.. Classic marketing!

  • best :)

  • +6

I'm not sure if this is just a one off case but tried it just before at Southern Cross Nandos printed coupon was rejected.
The "manager" called menek or something claimed that they never heard of any such promotions and nandos never ever done such promotions.
Rudely denied without even double checking.. must say quite cross and dissapointed at their service.

    • +5

Show him the website! And when he says he apologises, tell him he can go suck your chicken drumstick

      • yes this has just been communicated to all the stores. so get the cashier to check with the manager or get them to check the website.

        • how do you know its been communicated to all stores?

      • +2

"tell him he can go suck your chicken drumstick"
Thank you for making my day.

    • its posted on the offocial nandos australia site at 10am today. he will get to know about it soon.

    • +1

I'd be taking a printout of Nando's website aswell.

  • +5

Just used it at the little Bourke st store in Melbourne. Manager also hadn't heard, but went off and checked the site, and came back saying it was fine. He then briefed all the staff and let them know. No student card or anything required.

    • +2

Great to hear that the manager there was being proactive!

      • +1

        Except he REACTED to funkigreendog?

  • +2

Fantastic Marketing by Nandos - vouchers worked at melbourne central

  • nandos don't do normal beef burgers do they?

  • Do you guys think someone from Grill'd are responsible for the -1 vote? Nandos win this round!!

    • +5

      Ha, Conspiracy theory..
Nope, you could be giving out free money and people would still vote negative. ;)

  • I suspect individual shops might have a hard time with this - so it would be worth taking a print-out

I reckon it will be really interesting to explain to the Tasmanian stores ;P

this is definetely an example of dynamic marketing at work.. years from now someone might actually study this…

    or not ;P

    • Advice: call before going to your local :)

      • Do they answer the phone in the stores?

  • +4

I'm going to arm myself with some copies of unitimes and some photocopies of the voucher and go down to Westfield Southland.
The Grill'd and Nando's are opposite each other.

    Will be good viewing :D

    • lol.. that will be insteresting :)

  • +20

this is like…ur gf broke up with you… but den her friend whois hotter asked u out. swisshh

    • +1

mmmm, nice tasty meat throwing itself at you ;)

  • I wonder how long until we see a youtube vid ;P

  • +17

I dare somebody to draw the voucher with crayons and try to cash it in. It says they accept any form of the voucher.

  • +3

    Best marketing from Nandos ever

  • +6

Just went to Nando's in Boronia Road. Ordered 2 x Supremo Steak Rolls. She said "that will be $23.80". I said here's a Grill'd voucher that you must honour. She said "sorry, this is Nando's, not Grill'd". I said check out your website, it's all there. She said "sorry, we don't have internet access here, and we are rather busy". I insisted it was a valid offer, but she refused to budge. She asked the manager, same deal. 15 minutes later, after a few phone calls, they accepted the voucher. Now for dinner I think I'll have 2 x Tropico burgers, but this time I'll be armed with the Nando's printout. Gotta love this!

    • +2

That's annoying. I'd definitely take a print out of the Nandos site.

  • +1

Can confirm it works at both Nandos in the Brisbane CBD…

    • Guys vote tommyc comments negative.

      • +1

let the mod handle… click report! :)

  • Tommyc your comment is in no way related to the deal

      • Right and agreed but I don't see the justification for the negative vote. PS, I removed the second comment as it was the duplicate of the first one.

      • tommyc

your point is sound, true the OP seems to have rather strong feelings…

but at the end of the day its not necessarily fair to say Grill'd are smaller so its OK.

KFC backed off their vouchers, and think Coles did the same with the pies, so its not just restricted to a small player.

      • +5

If you buy from Grill'd your money is divvied up among employees, local power companies, whoever supplies their food etc and the company's owners.

If you buy from Nandos your money is divvied up among employees, local power companies, whoever supplies their food etc and the company's owners.

Spend your money as best benefits you. The owners probably aren't spending their money to help you, directly or indirectly.

(Though, I guess, that can depend if you or any of your family work for either chain)

      • +1

By your logic no one in US should eat in Sizzler restaurant!
What we suppose to do? check the food we want to eat with intelligent service?

      • Well Grill'd should have learnt there lesson by now. After the Movermber deal they had to cut short back in 2008, they should realise that people are always going to take advantage of a bargain, and if they can't afford it, than they shouldn't do it to begin with.
