    The wraps are tiny. $5 for any footlong deal was better.

  • +1

    …cheaper & healthier to make it at home! (…waits for negs) :P

    • +4

      I don't agree, Subway are pretty hard to beat when it comes to value and convenience. If I had to go through the process of making the same sandwich at home it would just be a 30 minute drama.

      • +3

        30 minutes to make a sandwich…? you probably cant scramble an egg either right?
        time = 5 minutes (maximum)
        cost = $1.00 per home made wrap
        benefit = you wont be a lard ass

        • +1

          You seen how many + votes pizza and nugget deals get on here?

        • +3

          fatty boombahs love that crap :D

        • +14

          Either you leave out all the salads at Subway (which is the appeal for me to order there) or you are a master chopper. Then as to price, I'd be hard pressed to get the ham for $1, let alone all the other fillings and the bread…

        • +5

          cost = $1.00 per home made wrap

          not a chance you're buying the ingredients for a decent meat + most of the salad wrap from subway for $1 each

        • -2

          dont you guys shop and have anything in the fridge…???

          FACT: home made sandwiches & wraps are quick easy & cheap

          for $10 i could be eating wraps all week ! you guys just like the 'convenience'….i.e being lazy :D

        • Lard ass ? A wrap with all the veggies and lean meat only is pretty damn healthy imo. I get your point though, I just don't want to have to chop, prepare and clean up afterwards.

        • Assuming you have all your meats ready

        • +2

          @Tasmaniac:

          salad dressing? sauces & spreads? mayo? white bread & pita? …all not healthy. thats the thing subway is only healthy if you eliminate all the crap

          also sorry ….i didnt mean to call you a lard ass :P

        • @franco cozzo: we're talking fast food for god's sake, stop guilting people who are choosing a much healthier option than maccas/HJs

        • +1

          A salad wrap from Subway won't make you a "lard ass" (on another note please refrain from contaminating your speech with such Americanisms as "ass"). $1 per wrap you say? Please give us an accurate cost breakdown then; also show us the finished result so we can all make an informed opinion.

        • @franco cozzo: quick easy & cheap

          Nah, pick 2, you can't have all 3.

        • +3

          @gokhanhjesus christ mate….its a sandwich. easiest quickest cheapest meal you can prep for yourself…its like you guys dont understand the sheer simplicity of stacking some fresh ingredients in bread…..!

        • -1

          Disagree

          Buying food, freshness, prep etc - cheaper at subway.

        • +2

          @Gringoesai: you are deluded….
          today i made myself a home made toasted pita wrap from stuff in my fridge including left over chicken breast, a satay sauce, mixed green leaves, spanish onion, fresh truss tomatoes, matured tasty cheese with hoisin sauce…..prep took me 4 minutes cost me a dollar or two in ingredients and it was all FRESH stuff i had in the fridge anyway cause you know i can make REALLY BASIC food at home (shock, horror)….absolutely delicious!

          but keep kidding yourself and keep buying overpriced sandwiches if you think its hard mate ;)

        • +1

          @franco cozzo:

          Unless your mum is buying those ingredients or you don't count 'left overs' as costing you anything, there is no way the pita wrap, plus ingredients cost you 'a dollar or 2'

        • +1

          @SBOB:

          maybe i just know how to shop & have half a clue how to look after myself without relying on take away crap?

        • +1

          @franco cozzo:

          or perhaps you're talking the same thing you keep calling take away

        • +1

          @franco cozzo: No need to be facetious. My post advised I disagreed that it was cheaper when you factor those things in. I live with housemates and we don't share supplies bar basic foods so as an individual It's not cheaper for me. I have a sandwich bar at work and It's still cheaper for me to make it there than buy a chicken/ham and all the other trimmings. To advise I can not make "basic food" and to advise it's too hard for me is just condescending. Everyone knows 9/10 the food you make yourself is always better and I agree with that, however, that was not the point I was making.

        • +2

          @Gringoesai: its all good mate sorry if i caused any offense… ;)
          just felt like having a subway stir-up session yesterday…i mean who cares eat whatever :D

      • You must be subway franchise owner ;)

      • Is your time worth nothing?
        -Shopping
        -cooking
        -cleaning
        take a pretty average aussie wage of $0.50 per hour and work out the cost of your time, then add the cost of:
        -materials
        -any wasted or spoiled food

        When you consider the actual cost, making food yourself is actually pretty expensive… but I love cooking.

        …also, Subway is often bought during work hours, so the time it takes to get the subway pays for itself.

      • +2

        Subway is hard to beat on value? When their sandwiches start at 11$ !?

        • +2

          …i read somewhere that its really hard to make sandwiches & the ingredients are really expensive apparently…?
          also the time & prep involved and the enormous cleanup afterwards can be somewhat cumbersome & problematic….
          so you can see $11 for what is essentially a salad roll is a very fair price….

        • *$7.85. I agree about the $11+ ones though, that's why this deal is good.

    • I like it but I rather make it, they skimp on toppings at my local store.

      • +2

        Here is the official sandwich build for Subway stores worldwide (depending on the region, some vegetable may not be offered or if there is a distribution, production or pricing issue then the quantities will be adjusted).

        Footlong:
        Lettuce 42 grams
        Spinach 14 grams (optional item)
        Tomatoes 6 wheels (or less depending on size; tomatoes should not overlap)
        Cucumbers 6 slices (or less depending on size, cucumbers should not overlap)
        Pickles 6 chips (optional item)
        Capsicum 6 strips
        Olives 6 slices (optional item)
        Onions 14 grams
        Jalapeño Peppers 6 slices (optional item)
        Shredded Carrots 14 gram (optional item)

        Six-inch and Wraps (30cm):
        Lettuce 21 grams
        Spinach 7 grams (optional item)
        Tomatoes 3 wheels (or less depending on size; tomatoes should not overlap)
        Cucumbers 3 slices (or less depending on size, cucumbers should not overlap)
        Pickles 3 chips (optional item)
        Capsicum 3 strips
        Olives 3 slices (optional item)
        Onions 7 grams
        Jalapeño Peppers 3 slices (optional item)
        Shredded Carrots 7 gram (optional item)

        The most common complaint I get is that I do not put enough olives on a sandwich. I usually place more than the official 6, and if a customer requests more I will put more olives on the sandwich. The point here is that your local store is probably following the set formula; go ahead and request more salad items, but be reasonable about it.

      • Yeah you can always just say more tomaoto or whatever it is they're skimping on

        • Unless of course they're skimping on hygiene and care.
          The 2 ingredient I see most lacking in the prep of SubW4Y rolls.
          I have seen time and a gain the person in front of my family member get something like chipotle or chilli sauce which gets on a glove then they keep the glove and pick up the next roll contaminating it.
          The good ones actually take the glove off then take the money, some don't, then proceed to make the next roll.
          The end result usually looks like a slap dash mess when you unwrap it, I don't find it appealing and would rather make my own.

  • My local subway has had this deal for like a year

  • -3

    It never ended lol

    • +1

      Definitely ended at the subways around Brisbane that I went to. Glad they have brought it back, prefer the wraps to the subs now.

  • +2

    does this website not have any issues with Fast Food chains? no Screen shots from Maccas, some copyright issue with subway, what else?

  • +1

    Been to the Subway store at Port Adelaide this evening and they told me the 2 wraps for $10 will start tomorrow.

  • I heartily recommend ordering the pastrami in a wrap, with just simple salad, without all the extra junk the official pastrami sub comes with. I did it today for the first time, and YUM. It could become my regular lunch.

    • Whats constitutes simple salad? I real ozbargainer would get all the salads.

      • I pretty much do all salads except the dirty 3; olives, pickles and jalopenos as they dominate too much imo.

      • Unless you don't like them haha
