    so how does it work?
    is there a table?
do you talk to staff for hours about the paint?
    is someone standing there?

    • +7

Go over to the paint desk, tell them about the offer and ask for 1 litre of paint in the colour of your choice.

        @titan0r thanks mate

Here's a comment I found on Buckscoop by theearth after someone accused him/her of copying from OzBargain. Thoughts everyone?

I rather cut my hands off than copying from your site.

    Here is the FACT

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/theearth?s=t

I working hard and find the deals myself ( original ones ) unlike some of your so called top posters.

    No comparison here

    • Thread is here if anyones interested, not that fiesty unfortunately

That site's a ghost town. Practically nobody actually comments on the bargains. Pretty boring. Plus the site looks like a dogs breakfast, hard to use and generally a poor man's OzBargain. Why anybody would actually visit Buckscoop is beyond me, considering any good bargain will eventually find its way here.

        • +13

poor mans ozbargain = better ozbargain?

        • +1

And yet, here we have deals filled with off-topic blah blah, and not a single +Vote given.

        • +2

years ago, I was a very active member on their site, before they changed the format and separated the cashback scheme portion with qwibble (something like that)
It was actually good! But now your right it's like a ghost town. I occasionally look on there, when I'm desperate to find a discount code. But the site is terrible and not user friendly at all.Sad really.
That's why I have completely converted to Ozbargain now.
          I don't post/comment often but I lurk daily, several times a day.

Pretty stupid argument when it's a public information and both sites have posters hunting deals lel - as if two people aren't going to go to the same well known website or be signed up to the email spam. Ridiculous - no one knows. Or cares :p

I guess people have time to burn…

  • What prep work to do for a previously painted ply board/plaster board?

    • +3

      paint over it

      • Thanks. Will save me $ and time.

        • +1

providing the surface is smooth/flat it will be fine

    • +2

scrub with sugar soap & then paint (unless you're using a much lighter colour then you might need undercoat

  • +1

is it a 1 litre??? I remember it being 916 ml sample pots.

    • +4

      What's 84ml between friends?

      • +5

few centimetres on the wall ;)

    • +1

      add some tint.

    • My local Masters gave me a S&W colour but in a 500ml cheaper brand's paint last time this was on.

    • is that not the tint used to make 1l.

  • Here we go again

  • +1

I wonder if peple get high off these hings? (not that im drunk or anything)

    • +1

I want to be you right now

  • Does anyone know if this includes oil based paints?

    • Probably not, doesn't state in the catalogue

  • +1

I like to use this as dipping sauce

  • +1

so..when are they actually closing down now?

    • when they get a buyer/ Watch that space?

      • so if no buyer, woolies group will just keep absorbing the lost..very generous of them eh…guess I should gold coin donate for a pot of paint then ..

  • +1

Having not read the promotion add , it may be the same as last free offer where the staff advised that the paint was only a colour check and not 'real paint' that will last?

    • +1

Yes, but great for touch ups

      • That could be fun ?

        • +1

Yep, sometimes you just need a small amount of paint to fix up a crack/ dent.
$20 for 4 litres is way too much paint/ money for a small area.
You can pay $5-10 for 500ml sample pot.
          This is the best option

    • Depeds on the brand. Dulux wash n wear sample is definitely the same paint.

  • will they do the color i want?

    • +3

Hi anuo, yes and you can also get Australian colours

      • Have not seen that before must look into. I still have 2 large tins [purchased] not tinted as she who must be obeyed has not made up their mind yet. Maybe now? Thanks

      • +1

        thank you so much.

  • +4

I don't need paint. But Masters is only a 5 minute drive from home…
DAMN IT, I WANT FREE PAINT! Thanks OP :)

    • +2

      You, are a true OzBargainer

Getting something you don't need, because it's free

    Went to Williams Landing Masters

Very rude person, I asked for paint and she asked for the coupon, I showed to her on my phone and she declined to give me paint.

When walking Out I heard her saying to her collegue that "they only come here for freebies".

I went back dto her and said this attitude is the reason you guys are closing down and for once I am happy about it.

I could see her face going red.

I always want masters to stay open so we have healty competition but customer service like this just puts you off ever going back to masters even for a deal.

    • +1

Good on you for telling her. So, I need a voucher to claim the sample huh?

      • Managed to get one but not worth the drive if you'll get just 1L. The staff told that the paint is below par than normal paint - which doesn't make sense. If you're to give a sample, it should be good to bring in customers.

      • Yes
        Actual voucher from the catalogue.

Also she said they only do pre mix light colours

    • +1

maybe you should speak to their floor manager.

      • Telling her, her attitute is the problem stores are shutting down was worth more than getting a manager.

Got home and looking at the ozbargained drill I biught from them a while ago. Goood times

    • +2

Have only had good service at Masters.

      • nice to learm your good experience. we may be living in a different planet.

        • Possible mate haha. I only ever go to Richlands, QLD - so the rest of the stores might be rubbish

  • they have a lot of advertisement paper when you get into the store, just pick 1 of them and you can get the offer inside.
Unfortunately the Toorak vic branch only have white paint for sample, no color one.

    • I thought you can ask for it to be tinted to any colour ?

  • Been to Masters in Bibra Lake, WA, advised no stock available until Monday. Possibly whole WA doesn't have stock !

    • None at Bayswater too.
      Apparently ozbargained this morning

      • I don't think it is ozbargained. Try Monday or Tuesday to see if they have the stock. Otherwise it is probably a marketing trick for customer to come.

  • Anyone have luck with this?

  • +2

    Forget this deal.

Went to masters northmead and first it was "um.. I don't think so sir - we might as well give out everything as freebies then" -$&"&& what the heck I thought. Then at the paint counter it was - oh you have to have the voucher then when I found it at the store and took it back to her all I had was an agonising conversation with a store person who like the above comment thought I was a moron (well at least she made me feel that way). Conversation went like this.

"So I presume this is like a test pot - my dad really wanted to test it as he's renovating the house. He's really keen to test out white"

"Oh we are out of white"

"Oh ok.. Hmm.. Is there any other variety close to white?"

(Opens her eyes wide and stares at me, then shaking her head -"what do you mean?"

"Uh.. Like Ivory white or I guess .. Beige white or something like that?"

    "No we are out"

"So what other colours have you got available?"

(Serious hesitation and honestly, she made me feel like she really, really, really wants me to just leave) "um.. You know it's .. Really kind of hard to show you as they are all out the back and unless you know exactly what you want, it's hard to tell"

"So.. Should I try to choose out the ranges you have on the display here?"

(This is when her behaviour REALLY made me uncomfortable) - "um… (Long, long, long stare at me) what exactly do you mean? I'm not sure what you mean by that.. These are not actually paint we are giving out its just a test pot"

(So how the friggin hell she wants me to choose and know "exactly" what I want out of nowhere to choose from I have no idea)

At this point I just said ok and left without any unpleasant replies. I really didn't see the point in fighting it out to get a litre of paint but this experience just really put me off the last little hope I had in masters.

I unloaded three pool chemical items in my cart then wished with all my heart that one day, maybe one day, store manager at masters Northmead and Woolies management would learn why on earth they can't replicate the Bunnings success. Price is one thing, but if they stuff up on price competition AND customer satisfaction, I don't see how they can ever get out of their current trouble.

Drove 300 metres down the road to northmead Bunnings and just got the pool chemicals and salt out of sheer frustration at masters. There - you lose another customer.

    • exactly my experience at Williamstown Masters.

    • I witness the exact attitude In Master Chullora to an old lady.
Staff is new. Store supervisor looks like teenage and gets the attitude. Buff with wrong answers and do not follow rules and orders. No wonder it is closing down.
bought items online 3 times, one time ordered online early, no stock and did not call, one time delivered but faulty goods.

  • I felt also Masters staff knowledge is not as expert as Bunnings. I reckon Bunnings staff has more knowledge in their area eg. Gardening, etc. And Masters prices are majority higher than Bunnings. No wonder no one buying there, except for free paint. Lol

  • I was there at 2pm and was told they were all gone. ->>>> youngchul76

  • Is the paint organic otherwise I won't take it.

  • Shipping supply at Everton Park. No Free Paint offer due to delivery issues NO Rainchecks.

I am happy to accept that they have run out of supply as I have seen a 1000 member craft club send their members into a country Masters for their colour choice. But, to have a hand written A4 note at the wrong end of paint counter, is a little sad.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/103572 I hope that you can deliver this and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/15894 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/163813 comments to those who count and can do something.

I do mention that I have had good service at the stores I have used even staff offering and working past their finishing time.

Funny, I would have thought, now staff and Masters would go out of their way to shine and make the business worthy of purchase or are Management trained by Dick Smiths Experts. Care sould be taken with the advertisements and how translated /set up in store. [ I have had difficulties in finding offers.

  • Went to Baldivis, WA today and advised that all gone, they got none left, not even the equipment to tint the paint. I believe that it is only a marketing ploy or Masters printed the brochures by mistake so that they hold all delivery for the sample pots until the offer period lapsed. Good on you, Masters !

    • I believe so as well. The "Not Available" sign has been in the Knoxfield store since the first time I went. Won't be patronizing Sherwin-Williams products based on this experience.
