Greg Chappell Cricket Centre 30% off Store Wide*

100

As anticipated in my previous GCCC post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/233732), here is an end-of-season cricket gear sale. I had a quick squizz and I can see some decent prices in the gloves and bats areas (30% off adds up real quick on grade 1 and grade 2 willow bats, as well as premium gloves), which are the only items I'm interested in. End of season is a great time to grab a new bat, as it gives you plenty of time to prepare it for next season (even prepared and pre knocked in bats can benefit from some gentle knocking and oiling).

As before, I will stress that every sport store will be having similar sales right now. It's heading into footy, rugby, hockey etc. seasons, so cricket gear will be on sale everywhere. So probably check your local store if that's an option ahead of GCCC or Kingsgrove as it's likely to be cheaper at your local (especially 12 month old floor stock bats that are slightly worse for wear). Oh and GCCC have physical stores, too, so that's worth checking out if you're lucky enough to be near one.

I'll just post the email:

With over 3500 products the vast majority of our range is now 30% OFF.

Do underarm bowlers get extra discount?

  • any suggestions for best value deal for a senior cricket bat? anything close to the Impala sale from DD?

There are many considerably better bats than what was on offer at that deal, for sure, but man, bats are such a personal thing.

Like, are you playing grade cricket, indoor cricket or backyard cricket? If grade cricket, are you playing on turf or cement wickets, against two or four piece balls? Do you just want something that is bang for buck excellent, without much worry for oil or knocking in? That's such an open ended question, but I'm happy to provide some answers if you can drill into your question some more :)

      • Indoor cricket bat suggestions!!!

      • I used to play 8th grade cricket a while ago but thinking of getting back into it. Wasn't serious into it so I just used the team's kit bats. Still not serious about it so I just want best bang for buck. Preferably light but still meaty.

8th grade? You mean high school? Don't buy online, go in person and make the decision. Pick up the expensive bats and practice a few shots, don't hit anyone. When you find one you like they should offer the same bat in a lower quality wood which will be cheaper. If there are a few of them look for the one with better quality wood - no knots, more lines of grain. You can usually find a quality bat that way. Do not buy Kashmir willow!!!
