  • People pay money for these?

  • -5

Negging because I don't want those evil bastards to have anyone's money.

Who? JB Hifi or Bigpond? Care to explain?

This is not a valid reason for a negative vote. please read the voting guidelines or contact mods if unsure.

  • Music card. Why somebody pay for this?
Don't you buy a cd or free download?

    • Downloading music that is not made available for free by the copyright holder is piracy. It's taken a while but the music industry is finally starting to come to the table with palatable offerings of DRM free music downloads. It costs money and time to write, perform, record, and edit music for distribution - none of these things are free, just like making a movie is not free.

Buying a CD is fine if you want the entire CD. Buying a high bitrate DRM free MP3 file is a better option for people who only want one or two songs from the CD, especially for music from 10-20 years ago.

Everybody usually votes positive when there's a discount on iTunes cards.
These are arguably more versatile, and 40% is a much larger discount than is usually offered for iTunes cards.
I think the best part of it is that Bigpond downloads don't count towards usage if you're on a telstra plan. That said, this is Ozbargain and only those forced into telstra are with them ;)

Heh, yeah I'm not a fan of Telstra (and not with them for anything). That said, Bigpond Music has a great selection and is priced well enough for now already, but 40% off is quite nice (especially since my wife is a music lover). We use Bandit.fm as well (predominantly), but sometimes they just don't have what we're looking for and Bigpond music does.

        "These are arguably more versatile,"

Yeah. Because you can also use them on the bigpond app store, and soon you can use them on the online bigpond ebook store too!

        • Exactly, because with iTunes I buy apps and TV shows. Very rarely do I buy music there. This is however a good deal if you buy music only. I'm more interested in the 10% off iTunes on the same link….where have all the good deal gone for those?

  • Nothing wrong with Bigpond Music.
Will be picking up a $50 or $100 voucher.

  • I've never used one of these prepaid cards from Bigpond before. Is there usually an expiry date on these? Am thinking of buying for someone's birthday that is still a few months away.

  • My wife has just signed up to a Telstra iphone for work. Can she download music from Bigpond to it or does it have to be from iTunes?

WARNING: Bigpond vouchers have a six month expiry!
    See http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bigpond.cfg/php/enduser/…

For reference, iTunes gift cards only expire if you haven't used them for 24 months!

    • thanks, just updated the top.

    • +1

Thanks for that! I thought it was 12 months - don't get these if you're trying to get christmas shopping out of the way early then! (we were thinking about it)

    • Doh!
I thought it was 12 as well :D

6 months is kind of sucky compared to iTunes thats 2 years.
Pretty sure that in the past Bigpond was 12 months :(
