  • Nice price - can anyone vouch for dd4? Anyone purchased through them before?

  • +2

I am really tempted to buy one of these. In the past when I have used Xiaomi smart products I had to use a unofficial english translation, does Xiaomi have a proper English app now?

Also these may get cheaper as Xiaomi has just announced a new camera: http://en.miui.com/thread-263076-1-1.html

    • I'd like to know this too, do they have an english app? or is it only in Chinese?

  • I'm also wondering about DD4 - ozbargain list of recent DD4 deals suggests counterfeit items can be an issue.

      Hi,
We guarantee it's original. You can use PayPal if you're worried. PayPal always protect customers' right.

      • But when it comes to counterfeit, Paypal can be a pain.

Paypal will require you to get enough proof to prove it is fake in order to get your money back. And i know sometimes they even require the manufacturer to confirm it is a fake before they accept it is a fake. E.g. showing them a picture of real one vs the one you received doesn't cut it.

And you have to get all the info yourself, they will not help you.

          HI,
You know PayPal better than me. There are many eyes on forum, what's the benefit for me to post counterfeit? I won't risk getting my account banned as I know how strict rules are here.

  • Gearbest: USD 28.89 = http://www.gearbest.com/ip-cameras/pp_193393.html so prices must be dropping

    • Gearbest deals are banned here!

Xiaomi Yi Home Security 720P Night Vision Wi-Fi IP Camera USD $28.99 (~AU $38.88) @ Everbuying USD$28.99 / AUD$38.88 here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/243073 if anyone is interested.

      • That may be so. They may have bad rep in the past but they've lifted their game.

        • +1

Agreed; I even purchase from them myself but they have been known to sell counterfeit/faulty items so the mods have disabled Gearbest goods from being promoted on OzBargain.

        • @rawm:
I didn't realise they were selling faulty or fake products. Probably they should be banned for life if it was deliberate.

      • Is this one (the mod's one) the same as the one @rawm posted 2 days ago?

I was tempted to buy the one in rawm's post but the comments about having to never update the firmware/app to avoid bricking turned me off.

Am willing to wait and pay more for an international version.

      • Just posted for price comparison :)

  • Are these only suitable for inside use? How can you mount them?

    • +1

Best suitable for indoor use.. Comes with its own stand..

  • Does this device upload all my bedroom antics to the 'cloud'?

Or is there a safer off cloud (RTSP stream) option that works?

  • Rep, just an idea, if you can offer Xiaomi Pro 10000mAh battery bank at $24, you should be able to generate HEAPS more sales.
I personally need at least 3…

    • Hi,
Thanks for your advice. I think it's kind of impossible. As this one sells at RMB149, same as ip camera. But I'll try to find if any seller would offer as low as it could be.

  • bought one, hopefully it doesn't take like a month to get here.

  • Besides the initial "we've taken possession of you money" email, has anyone been able to log in or received any form of tracking information?

    • Hi,
You will receive the tracking information after the seller sends the parcel.

    • +1

I haven't received any information from seller since paid last week. Not suppose to take a week to send it as they only sold few units since the promotion.

      • Hi,
Please PM your order#. I'll let CS check with seller.

        Summer

        • Any idea when we can expect the seller to post the parcel?

  • Received mine today if it's of any help to others.

The shipped version is the Chinese version, which works fine, but needs some work to get working outside of the app.

    See these links:

I couldn't get the firmware past L working. N firmware detects the camera is outside of China and just shuts down.

    • Alright i think ive reached the same point as yourself. Running M with CN firmware and CN App, although the camera is set up in the app, it boots and connects for a few seconds before saying something in chinese and turning off.

http://xiaoyi.querex.be/ Guess ill give L a go from here
