The CPU is AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 ((Single Core) 1.60GHz/512KB L2 Cache/1.6GHz HT)

Here is the comparison of Athlon Neo and Atom

  • What is the battery life on this like?

    • Yes, I am wondering as well, no mention on site of battery size - really interested.

    • double post

    • yes, info on the estimated batt life will be good.

    • +2

Reviews of the DV2 mention 2.5 hours of battery life, which is probably the reason COTD didn't mention it…

  • 4 cell…not too good i think..

    • 6 cells will be perfect

  • battery size on this aint good yo .

Still a pretty good deal for an ultraportable laptop.

I don't think you can find a 12" CULV for less than this price.

  • low res. bad.

    • LOL that resolution is the same as most consumer 14/15" laptops…I think its more than fine!

      • +1

His name is mr ass tight what do u expect.

  • the resolution is fine

what's bad is that they are single core…

also vista basic isn't too fun

    • But It's an ultraportable, they don't tend to have dual cores. Or unless you're talking about the new netbooks with dual core atoms, they also tend to be over $600 RRP.

Okay let me get this straight for you guys.

Small battery + High Definition = small hours of usage

  • +8

I have owned this before. short battery lift, hot, slow. not recommend.

I am really getting annoyed with manufacturers claiming 1280x800 or 1366x768 is "HD" as in "High Definition". That is the bog standard resolution fitted to wide screen laptops for the past 6 years.

I went shopping for a laptop recently and was dismayed by the lack of true high definition laptops. There were no 15" models higher than 1280x800/1366x768 in JB Hifi, Dick Smiths, Myer, Harvey Norman and Officeworks.

  • Seems like a really good value for what you pay. Are you sure it's 4 cell? The review I read says it's 6 cell.

    • TechBuy had this, that one says 4 cell.
      http://www.techbuy.com.au/p/125090/NOTEBOOKS_12.1/HP/VK004PA…

The dimensions also seem quite a bit larger than the ultraportables you might see instore. Compared the measurements to my HP 2133 and it's quite alot bigger (like 7.5cm deeper!) although slimmer it seems.

      • ooooh, shame.. I don't know why notebook manufacturers skimp on batteries :(

        • to keep the price down for the uninformed and to attract interest for others, who then upsize to a bigger battery for more $.

  • So its not worth buying? I have it added in cart. Very tempted to press checkout…

  • i don't think its worth buying… save yourself and not regret later on.

I'd rather save myself over couple hundreds and get a netbook with dualcore …

  • How does this DV2 compare to the Gateway LT3003a ? should i get this DV2? or Gateway ? or acer aspire one 532h from JB hifi?

in term of performance if i just want to use it for word processing, excel, maaybe light internet browsing and watching TV series using media player classic?

dont need anything fancy like high res etc2

    just want budget netbook :)

    thanks

  • Its a good buy, res is just enough, apparently the battery can be extended using under voltage, gets another 1/2 hour and well you really need win7 for this one.
Most reviews say it performs better then atom (even the dual core), but then they review the US version without the gimped graphics card.

Took the plunge despite COTD doesn't talk about the HDMI plug despite it being on every version i've seen online as well as in the picture…

  • I can't find the option B of this deal on COTD…

    • Sold out, 160GB HDD one available

Here is a review from a year ago. I think it's the same pc. http://techreport.com/articles.x/16783

  • HP. FML

  • DONT DO IT 1HR batt life warning!!

  • I am looking for a netbook, any suggestion?

    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/acer/10-inch-netbook-sku-…

    Is $367 10% off already?
    or $367*0.9-$39 =$291????????????????

  • It's all sold out now. Thank gawd, I've been tempted to buy this all day.

  • anyone get an email of dispatchment?? its been 4 days and no word, my god I can receive a shipment from the states in this time…

  • Waiting….forever :(

  • Has anyone who ordered this notebook received it yet?
I placed an order on the 19/04/2010 and the status on COTD still says 'Processing'. Seem to take quite long. Does anyone know what's the cause of the delay?

    • Just got a email - "Your Order 1045711 Has Been Dispatched"
