  • Is big w vision any good?

    • Their prices are pretty good and they use Hoya lenses, if you're wanting glasses.

202 votes and no bargains listed :D

    • There was a toolbox reduced from $30 to $7. Also some fitness equipment was marked down (might be listed elsewhere).

  • So any item worth buying at all?

    • What you do like? I mentioned previous page they've got new release books sell for $16 - with a RRP of $30-33. Take off another $1.6. If you've got a 5% egift voucher deduct a bit more. So a $30-33RRP for $13.75-$14.40. (I'm gonna grab the last in Justin Cronin's trilogy just released).

    i just bought 2 x $40 boost prepaid recharges
    $72 at the register
    paid with egift

also… it is worth a go to look at vision section.
the frames are priced ok, with 20% off prescription and frames.
got a purchase just over $200bux.
paid the rest with egift after medibank rebate (hiccaps)

    • Wonder if that means thwy would work on the Xbox and other type cards?

Maybe gift cards means the Big W type gift cards

  • does anyone know if you can manually type in the discount barcode onto the self checkout? like with the masters barcodes you could manually input

    • if anybody is wondering the same thing, I checked today at the self checkout, the enter barcode button was missing, luckily I noticed a staff member had just printed out a few copies of the discount, I asked if I can have one, she gave it to me.

  • It's best to print out the flyer. At Waverley Gardens, the checkout person did not have a staff card to scan and would not enter the barcode.

  • You can scan the (printed) barcode at the self-checkout to get the %10 off. Not an earth-shattering discount by any stretch but for buying various items rather than just those on special, it's nice to at least have some discount.

  • Thanks OP! Finally got around to buying some misc stuff that I've been putting off for awhile now.

  • Thanks OP. Just picked up a nutribullet pro for $134 (dont judge). Already reduced to $149 - another 10%.

Went to Bankstown BigW today to buy a few items. Showed the cashier the flyer on my phone. She asks for a BigW staff card saying the discount is only for staff and immediate family.

I kindly point out the word "& friends" at the end. she still insists on seeing a staff card.

Cue a few minutes of going back and forth. She says she needs to check with the manager. Manger comes around, says its fine to use, she pulls out the photocopied flyer near her register and scans the bardcode.

Thanks BigW bankstown for making me work for my 10% off.

    • Lol did she process it grudgingly? or was she polite afterwards?

  • Anyone know if I can top up my opal card at big w?

  • They have 40% off Bonds "family" underwear and socks. It stacks with this deal and makes for some good value.

  • Just putting it out there the Salisbury electrical area decided not to help. Last time I buy anything there.
