2 x 6-Way SANSAI Surge Protected Power Board with Individual On/Off Switches and Extra Spacing
+1 votePOWERevolution on 10/05/2010 - 08:25 ¶$28.98 + shipping is not a bargain!
+1 for Individual On/Off Switches and Extra Spacing but Belkin’s Unlimited Connected Equipment Warranty got my vote for peace of mind.
Pizza The Hut on 10/05/2010 - 12:36 ¶You probably wont like this Belkin either then. Most of these surge protected boards have a light to tell you that its protected. Silly thing is though, even when the varistor is gone the light still stays on.

That one looks similar to the one from Jaycar:
POWERevolution on 10/05/2010 - 08:55 ¶For this price I think will sold out in the next 12hrs. Get 'em now or too late :-)
POWERevolution on 10/05/2010 - 09:10 ¶They fixed quick and take out 2 Day Offer too. Hope they have enough stocks to last for 24 hrs :-)

Has anyone here ever actually lost electrical equipment before to a power surge?
These things are not going to actually stop a lightning strike from destroying your gear; see this thread

$29 is pretty cheap "insurance" though - if Belkin actually pays out.

Yep - came home one day to a quiet house with the servers powered off and no internet. Went to the comms cabinet in the garage and found that both the power board and the ADSL modem rattled. There had been a nearby lightning strike (I live 100m from a major power substation) and the power board had given up its life protecting the servers. The energy in the surge was enough to melt some components. The modem was plugged into power board, but the phone line wasn't, so the modem died.
Interestingly, the audio-video equipment (TV, amp, DVD etc) and its power board were still working. I replaced the power board anyway since MOV's are prone to silent failures - the equipment connected to the board still gets an electrical supply, but since the MOV have failed, the board provides no protection.

happykamper on 10/05/2010 - 12:25 ¶Exactly. I hate recessed outlets, and I have too many 'brick' chargers for this to be of any use to me.
POWERevolution on 10/05/2010 - 15:21 ¶Yeah kinda sucks can't use large power adapters but for the price & warranty…won't let 'em get away either :-)
savememoney on 10/05/2010 - 10:14 ¶Took a while for the page to load, timed out a few times, eventually got 2 myself, bargain!

ih8parties on 10/05/2010 - 10:22 ¶I have a DSE gift voucher, can someone please tell me if there is an option in the checkout process to use it online? Or can they only be used in store?

benjaminzsj on 10/05/2010 - 17:04 ¶My LCD monitor is flickering because of the noise, 60Hz I think, so is this thing going to help me?
alwayseric on 10/05/2010 - 17:25 ¶sigh…i should come back home earlier, or check the ozb in the company.
+5 votesMatador_OZ on 10/05/2010 - 18:24 ¶Some people are tight with their +1, they buy 2 or 3 and yet they don't give a +1

Yesterday I sent them an email complaining about the price difference. Today a CS consultant called me and took the order over phone for 2 at $25.Great.Lesson- if there is something wrong, do complain. Again it depends on the retailer. Some will follow the correct practices some just turn away.
illumination on 11/05/2010 - 10:53 ¶How would this one compare to the Huntkey one posted up last week on OzBargain?
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/25136
peterspeter on 13/05/2010 - 11:21 ¶Received it this morning. Comes in a unbelievable large box (for a surgeboard). I think the delivery itself is costing DSE more than $29.

justhooked on 13/05/2010 - 13:22 ¶the box mine came in could have fitted 6 easy for my two must have cost heaps to WA
savememoney on 14/05/2010 - 14:12 ¶Got mine (x2) today, picked up from the post office as the courier came by yesterday and no one was home.
Yup! Big delivery box indeed!

I ordered mine last Monday and still didn't receive mine. Called up DSE and they told me 2 of my orders have been canbcelled, the Swann DVR4-2500 kit and the Belkin surge protector.
Not happy since it allowed me to put the orders in. The DVR is not $1199 and they wont sell it to me for $799 anymore.
