We had one of these things, they are terrible. They're nothing like a 'real' rigid kayak. They bend in the middle like a banana with even a lightweight person sitting on, and with no keel fin they continually turn left to right with every paddle stroke so you go nowhere. Just my experience.

    • Yeah I was a little concerned about the middle bending. We've got proper plastic sit on kayaks and thought these might be ok for lazy paddles…I guess we'll see! haha

      • I bought a couple for the same reason as you. Might look at throwing something rigid between the bladder and the cover as someone else suggested.

      • Yeah, we got it for the exact same reason, our real kayaks are too big and heavy to take out all the time. Thinking this was a good solution, until we tried to use it! Good for kids play but thats about it. They are nice and light though, air doesn't weigh much!

Thanks for pointing that out. I was nearly tempted!!!

Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain despite looking like a bargain

    • good for the pool

  • It doesn't have a removable fin?
How heavy is it? Does the paddle split in half for transport?

Doubt it comes with a paddle…

Is reading the description too much work for you?

I've thrown the boxes into recycling already, think it said 6kg or there abouts. No fin. Paddle splits in two.

Comes with kayak, paddle, foot pump, carry/storage bag. The bag is just a mesh drawstring bag.

  • Mine also bends like a banana.I thought of adding some plywood to the deck to sit on to lessen this poor design problem.

I have the 2 seat kayak but different brand.. Yes it is slow slow but it is stable and good for persons that would used it twice a year like me..

Kayaks are great in theory, the novelty wears off pretty quickly though. These days I just use a rowing machine.

How buoyant is a rowing machine?

      • One for dave letterman

Dave said they go down faster than his assistant…not sure what he meant by that one though! :P

They float quite well, thanks for asking. http://www.rowgue.com/left_bar/Crab%20bites.html

      • “How buoyant is a rowing machine?”

Best laugh all morning…thanks for kickstarting my day

A rowing machine doesn't take you out into the midst of nature or the backyards of millionaires. It's not necessarily about the workout.

      • +3

True but a rowing machine doesn't take 15 minutes to load and unload. You also don't need to wait for calm days and worry about staying warm. Don't get me wrong kayaking is great, maybe it's the cold, windy conditions here in Tassie that make it a drama.

I dont believe it was 599$

    • I can't believe it was $599. But the boxes did have the original $599 price tags on them. I don't know who would pay that much for them. I remember inflatable kayaks being expensive when shopping for our plastic ones.

  • Says "reg $100" on the Webite

  • Does it come with a pump to inflate it?

    • Yes

      • It might come in handy when my plane crash in the middle of the ocean.
Not sure if security would let me take it on board.

Life jackets are under your seat.

        • @303-Acid: Yep.

  • Inflatable kayaks are almost useless. They bend in the middle, don't keep on track, if it is windy they go with the wind and if there is any current you have no hope to paddle against it. If you go over sharp rocks it is the end od it.
They are good toys for the kids at the lake (only a few meters from the shore) or in the pool though.

    • They're like anything, you get what you pay for.
You need the ones with the tubes at the sides for stability and strength and a decent skeg on the bottom.

  • In short, it's banana; the kayakers' colloquialism for lemon…
