I'd rather get 3/32gb, any code please?

    • +20

It'll be instock on the 30th. I can do a good deal then.

      • no presale coupons bruh?

        • +6

I'll see what I can come up with.

        • +2

@Clear: just bought one 3/32GB (no b28) from aliexpress! devo. Good stuff though.

      • +3

Yep count me in for the 3/32gb one.

        • +2

same here… wife has one of the non global versions (no B28) and it's freaking awesome except for the camera which is just meh… not terrible, but not great either.

        • @bunnybash:

my redmi 2 camera just awesome …

        • @bunnybash: what is the verdict on band 28 / 700 ? Or not?

        • @medium_tight: Yeah it's actually strange that for the Redmi Note 3 that the camera isn't as good as it should be. A lot of reviews raise the point that older phones from Xiaomi have better cameras. It's def not a terrible, but it's pretty good.

        • @mrbillions: Yeah the band isn't on my wife's phone - it doesn't actually effect the phone usage that much but Band 28 would be nice for better CBD and indoor performance.

      • ~AU$242(US$180) B28 3GB/32GB RMN3P is presale listed already for 30-Aug shipping. Great work there clear!

        • Hanging out for this one! Thanks for the link!

      • Any approximate price on the 3/32gb model please?

So we can make a call whether to get this one or the better one?

        • +1

Nothing yet. I'll try and get a price tomorrow.

        • @Clear:

Try US$169.95… that seems to be price I see pop up often on USA-only sites.
So around ~AU$220, and you will generate quite some sales from OzBargain alone.

        • @Clear:

Any word on a coupon for the b28 3gb/32gb?

        • +2

@ownage input: Yeah. I can't get a coupon until they're instock on the 30th as Geekbuying will have to confirm stock.

      • Count me in, my note 4 just broke

      • Hmm, thats good to know.
After canceling my order, I got further updates saying there was "another delay" lol.
        30th eh? We'll see….
        I may order again

  • Also, can you confirm what models have B28 700Mhz? As I said I'm after 32gb ones.

  • +1

    4G/3G for the dual SIM?

    • +2

      4G/3G and 2G sorry.

  • Nice to see the international version becoming available, not at a ridiculous price either. However if you're looking to buy this phone keep in mind that the phone is not very well supported in the ROM community at all… I might have bought the 32/3gb otherwise.

    • Isn't this the same model that is codenamed 'kenzo' ?

      • +1

Every 'international' and 'special edition' (same model) of this phone has the codename 'kate'. It is NOT compatible with 'kenzo' ROMS.

      • +5

The B28 version is 'kate', the non-B28 version is 'kenzo'. Good discussion about 'kate' at xda-developers.

Thank you @clear for organizing this for us.

        • Thanks.. back to xda I go :)

        • So the non-international 3gb/32gb one is kenzo and well supported? what keeps 'kate' from being supported, and would it be worth going non-international just for the support?

Do you know if 'kate' is likely to get well supported in the near future, with cyanogenmod and stuff? :\ . Is it only not supported for now because not many people have purchased it yet?

I was set on buying this, but if it doesn't really have alternative roms that kind of makes me wary…

        • +2

I think the 'kate' phone has been hard to source outside of Taiwan. I'd say it's only a matter of time before root, TWRP and other roms become common.

        • -1

          @nandystam:
Also these phones come with locked bootloaders. The Xiaomi kenzo has been unlocked (both officially and unofficially). However, since Xiaomi kate is a (similar but) whole new phone, its possible the previous method may not work. It probably would require some light modifications, but should be do-able.

Otherwise, if it is not unlocked, the device may not get developer action.
And could be left behind as kenzo progresses with community effort.

        • +1

@Kangal: Xiaomi provides official bootloader unlock for all of their phones http://en.miui.com/unlock/

    • I thought there was active ROM support, like with CM

      • With 'kenzo' (non-international) yes. With 'kate' (international) not as of yet because of low supply.

        • Thanks for replying. So would it be better to wait for the 3G/32GB if I want to use CM, that people are saying their waiting on?

        • @Polde: Well it depends what you use your phone for, but ultimately to future-proof you want 3GB of RAM… Personally I would be waiting for 3GB, especially since the upgrade price is minimal. Completely your decision there.

The first official stable snapshot for CM has JUST come out for kenzo and as these kate devices ship out to around the world I'm sure you could expect CM coming out for kate soon (within a few months maybe). If you can hold out on MIUI for a while and band 28 is that important by all means wait for a deal on the 3GB.

  • +2

Any chance of a bundle deal with case + screen protector?

    • +6

Yeah. I'll have a link from Geekbuying tomorrow with them all combined.

      • Excellent. I'll wait until then. Thanks :)

  • +3

Wanted this a few weeks ago. Couldn't wait, so I got the mi max. Loving it and very happy with my xiao mi experience.

  • Do these have preinstalled firmware? or is this stock android

  • +3

I like miui, I like that I can have a Dark theme for night use and a light theme for day use. I like that you get regular updates from Xiaomi, even on old phones. I like the miui browser too, because unlike many browsers it has text reflow and a night mode. The only thing is you need to find a phone that has a global rom.

  • do u have LeTV Le Max X900 4GB 32GB/64GB on special? with B28 700Mhz?
do u Mi Max 32GB/64GB on special? with B28 700Mhz?
LeTV Le Max have NFC, But Mi Max don't have?

  • +1

From your description page it still doesn't confirm anything until someone can take screenshot of the product name. It just show HK stock with official ROM compared to Chinese one with hacked custom ROM. Xiaomi HK doesn't sell special edition "kate", they sell standard edition "kenzo".
    http://www.mi.com/hk/note3/specs/

It is good if it is "kate" but no one has access to this phone to confirm including this store rep. Please post screenshot to confirm. Until I have seen the screenshot, I still treat your listing as questionable.

Regarding the 6828 NV RAM hack, I have tested it and it won't work on "kenzo". No custom ROM flash can enable it because NV RAM is out of touch for ROM flash.

I am currently using HK version Redmi Note 3 and it is "kenzo" with no band 28 or 20 enable in NV 6828 setting.

  • +1

look forward to a b28 3gb/32gb model deal, clear!

    • +2

Same. 32gb deal and i'll buy.

      • +1

Clear has already linked the presale B28 3GB/32GB versions here.

        • +11

a link to a presale is not a deal. you'll note the 2gb/16gb model is $163USD, so there must be room for a discount.

as JV always says, it's ozbargain, not ozregularprice.

  • Boohoo! just bought a 3G 32GB for US$187.39 (packaged with case and screen protector). If you are giving a better price than that, can I get back the difference?? I am buying it for my hubby for Father's Day (pressie from me and the kids). I bought a Mi Max a couple of weeks back from Geekbuying and am sooo pleased with the phone.

  • Also hoping for a great deal on the 3gb/32gb..

    • Pretty sure you cant neg a deal because you wanted it to be a deal on something else….

      • +2

Sorry accidentally hit the neg button . It wasn't intentional. Revoked the neg after I realised .. Forgive and forget 😉

        • +1

I thought that was rather odd. No worries.

  • How difficult would it be to root these phones or xiaomi phones in general?

  • Just wondering if the non-b28 version will get good reception in Newcastle/Hunter Valley area?

  • Also will wait for 3G/32GBB version too. My Huawei G526 has just died. encryption error now bricked.
This be a great step up.

  • Also waiting on the 3/32gb model to replace my Note 2 Prime, which I saw a couple of days back. My note 2's battery barely lasts 3 hours with use, so the 4000mah thing that powers this will be a welcome addition. Hopefully root and TWRP is around the corner for some Dolby Atmos goodness!

  • This seems like a great priced phone from what I've seen, however I am wary of jumping in.

Main factor is ROM support, does anyone use Cyangenmod with this phone?- is there ongoing development?.

  • i presume the code doesn't work for 3+3GB and OP will hopefully get us a coupon before 30th ?

  • also i read about potential wifi issues. any owner has any insights?

  • Is this phone better than the Zenfone 2?

    • …yep

  • Have to a bit careful of these guys. I order the 3GB version which was showing in stock on the weekend and paid for DHL shipping. Yesterday when I chased them up for when is it shipping, I got an email that the phone has been shipped by Airmail with a 15-20 days delivery time.
I might as well would have waited and ordered the B28 version.

    • Cancel the order and order this?

    • PM me your order number.

      • PM sent. Thanks

        • Any luck getting any response. Thanks

  • +1

Can apps be installed in the sd card?

  • +2

Not the most rugged phone, I may end up passing on this. The way the glass can flex onto the screen weirds me out too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7H9OmV0OPI

    • +2

Although, it did seem to give a bit of a fight, certainly better than the nexus 6p. It didn't crack immediately.

I'm starting to think it probably doesn't matter too much considering the price point. If it breaks, I could just buy another and still be ahead compared to basically any other comparable phone. If this was happening at $400+, that's a problem, but at close to $200, maybe it isn't really a problem.

  • I bought the kenzo version from these guys. It only took 3 weeks for delivery, which was better I expected. Phone is great even with MIUI!

  • Are these the best value phones in market atm?

  • I want a compact phone and the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime looks good from the reviews. Are these any good? Are there any deals on these? thanks!

    • There is a deal on the Prime here

      • Thank you. Should I be getting the normal or Official International Version? What is the difference?

        • +1

More bands on "Official International Version". Note sure if anything else.
          4G FDD-LTE: 4G: FDD LTE B1/3/4/5/7/8/20 (2100/1800/1700/850/2600/900/800MHz), TDD-LTE B40/B41 (2300/2500MHz)
          vs
          4G FDD-LTE: 1800/2100/2600MHz, TDD-LTE (B38/B39/B40/B41: 2555-2655MHz)

Would be better for Vodafone but still missing Band 28 that Telstra and Optus use.

  • thanks man, just bought one.

  • +1

It's a pity that many Chinese phones are basically phablets greater than 5". I need a phone which can be fit into a shirt pocket. 5" will not, but 4.7" will.

    • +3

Shirt… pocket? Not having a go, but why would you keep your phone in your shirt pocket? Surely when you bend over something it's going to fall out, right?

      • +1

Not if your shirt pocket has a flap/button I guess.

  • do u have LeTV Le Max X900 4GB 32GB/64GB on special? with B28 700Mhz?
do u have Mi Max 32GB/64GB on special? with B28 700Mhz?
LeTV Le Max have NFC, But Mi Max don't have?

    • There is no X900 at GB.
There is no Mi Max with B28.
There is no NFC in the Mi Max.

  • +1

If this thing had nfc I would buy it instantly.

    Good deal though

  • +1

I'm pretty sure Kate will be supported just as well as Kenzo is by the ROM builders like CM
Kate is new. Give it a little time.
In the mean time MIUI isn't bad at all.

    • While we wait for "kate" to be supported like "kenzo", do you know if we can root the "kate" version? Thanks!

  • I'm not much of a phone buff or even a big mobile user but I like the idea of a 5.5 screen. Is it worth me picking up one of these….or the 3/32gb and getting rid of my iPhone 5c and Nexus 7 tablet? I imagine this phone will do everything my previous combo did.

  • @Clear Also interested in the 3/32GB phone. Let us know when you have the link for the phone with cover and screen protector.

  • Can we install Google play store and apps on the 3GB/32GB international variant? I know with 99% certainty that I can, but just need that final confirmation before I purchase.

    • +1

Yes, can download the apk from here:
      http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/

A convenient way is to open the camera app and point it at the qr code on the page of the file you want to install.

    • It already comes with it installed. As long as you don't but the China version, you're going to get the Play Store. Also… it comes with all the Google apps installed for some reason, so you can't actually uninstall things like Play Music, Hangouts, etc. That, I feel, is a bit of a pain.

  • Is this dual sim phone 4G/3G or 4G/2G ?

    • 4G/2G

  • Finally, my patience paid off, so a little bit longer for the 3gb/32gb variant and I can have one of this phones =) thanks OP

  • if you are not bothered for B28, there is an awesome deal on aliexpress for 3GB/32GB model. just AUD $ 145

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Black-For-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3…

    • +2

Feedback on the store is concerning. You don't normally see something with feedback below ~4.5 and an overrall score under 90%.

  • +9

I'd be wary of ordering from Geekbuying.

I put in an order with them on another of their deals, and never received my order and they are so far refusing to give a refund. (I've had to raise it with Paypal and still waiting for refund…)

It seems on almost every deal you see of theirs someone is having a similar issue. I'm sure 95% of orders go through without problem, but if you're in the 5% with an issue, very poor customer service.

(Note: I paid extra for the TNT express and still didn't receive the order - just lots of excuses).
