[Free] Adobe Creative Cloud for NSW Public School Students

630

Here's some details on how to use it:

To NSW Public school students, you can now get Adobe Creative Cloud for free

Or copypasted:

Before I explain how to get it, here's some proof.

  1. Make an Adobe account if you don't have one already. You can do this later, but one of my friends did that and had some problems.

  2. Register here with your school email if you haven't already. If you have already made an account, log in and check that you have eligibility. (If you don't, i.e, it expired, go ahead and click renew or whatever it says, it'll just shoot your school email an email to make sure you're still enrolled)

  3. Go here and click the 'Adobe' tab, click on Adobe Creative Cloud.

  4. Add to cart and checkout (Don't need a CC)

  5. On your order results: there should be a 'Redemption code', copy that and email it to yourself so you don't lose it in case adobe wants to verify it or something.

  6. With that same redemption code, go here and click sign in at the bottom of the screen. It might ask you some stuff with regard to your school email, just fill that in. Then it asks you for the redemption code, enter that. Finally, it might ask you for payment details, you can close out of the tab at that point, they're not mandatory.

  7. Download Creative Cloud and choose the programs you want.

Note: This plan has the whole Creative Cloud suite, you still are on the base TypeKit plan. This probably won't affect you unless you want fancy fonts.

While I helped about 5 people today install and none had problems, if you have problems and you had a less than legitimate version of an adobe product before, make sure you uninstalled the less than legitimate product. If there are still problems, try running the Adobe Cleaner tool. double check that you don't have some entries in your hosts file relating to adobe.

Yea, this post looks big and scary but it takes <10 minutes to get it all up.

      What is Creative Cloud?
Creative Cloud gives you everything you need to turn your brightest ideas into your best work across your desktop and mobile devices and share it with the world.

Be damned if I can understand their mumbo jumbo !

I believe it includes these software:
      http://www.adobe.com/au/creativecloud/catalog/desktop.html

Edit: Includes Acrobat DC, which will do for me :)

      • +2

wait what?? it includes aftereffects and photoshop etc? Don't they cost thousands normally?

        • +1

Well you can't buy a perpetual license anymore, theyre 30ish bucks a month. Either way, ridiculous savings

        • @tf2manu994: Yep I'm almost astounded that those were included, thanks a lot for this op, even though you copy pasted I would've never found this otherwise.

Even though I copypasted, I made the original post there too. See username :)

        • @tf2manu994: ohhh damn, more props to you then!!

@didntknowicould: >I'm almost astounded that those were included

Don't be: Adobe wants students using it (who probably wouldn't pay in the first place) so their employers do pay them once they get into the workforce not knowing anything else.

      • Wait, so this has everything listed? That's crazy

        • Yep. Everything they have, barring some marketing tools.

        • @tf2manu994:

Adobe marketing cloud is a different product.

        • @JoJoker: just checked, Yea. As is document cloud, but you get acrobat here.

So… Time to make Ozbargain Primary School? Where "children" doing distance education can all learn about life skills of saving money?

google 'DET Portal login' and ask them to log in with their credentials they know for school.

In primary i remember the credentials being either

first.last<number> or first.last<number>@detnsw (number only being there for some people, with the password being their grade number. Ask their teacher maybe?

      • +1

Yeah I'll see if I can get the info. Worth having.

  • Does this stop working once you are not a student anymore / not have access to email or what's the deal?

    • I think it's just for 1 year

      • tempted to sign up pon my brother's account but I want to make sure that this will work for more than a year otherwise… i'll stick to my less than legitimate copy

        • You can get more than one year. Just need to get another key next year, they point this out on the key page.

      • Nope.

    • In 12 months you go back and get a new key. They say so on the key page.

Graduated students should still get access to their student emails if they remember it. I still get access to my student account years after graduating. I also have access through my teachers account should I need to get additional keys (plus additional accounts that were made during prac placements).

Essentially have never needed to pay for any Adobe or Microsoft software for the past 6 years!

  • doesnt work with @tafensw.net.au

    • thanks, fixed the OP

  • Just tried, uni (.edu) email doesn't work.

Need a @education.nsw.gov.au address which is given to school students.

        • naa, not in Australia :s

  • What about T.A.F.E.?

    • Someone tried and it didn't work

  • This is crazy good especially considering that it includes photoshop and after effects

Big Thanks OP, daughter on Kindy. 10 years of free Adobe CC ;)

    • +1

No plans to let her stay in school for year 11 and 12?

      • Kindy is almost over, forgot about year 12 + Uni ;)

        • I hope she can count moar better than you by the time she finishes!

        • +1

          @AngryQLDer:

I hope she does better ;)

PS: there is no year 12 in my birth country

    • I should have a kid!

  • I think this is great for education and for primary school kids, but these Adobe products are high-end, industry standard software, bit hard to see 12 year olds using it. High school/uni students would have benefited massively from this too.

    • It is available for DET students I believe, so high school students within the public system should be receiving it :)

      • Correct, anyone with .education

My 8 year old plays with all kinds of software…even simple coding software. You're thinking with the mind of someone raised in the 70s or 80s I suspect. I've seen 18 month olds use the menu and bring up apps they want on an iPhone.

      • Thought I'd get this comment. I'm 22 FYI. Of course kids these days are increasingly interacting with more and more complex software these days. Just saying it would've been nice to see this extended to students who are older and can utilise the software further.

        • Yeah fair call.

  • +1

Thanks used my school email even though I graduated, it says after the one year's up you can visit the page again and renew it, so probably not a good idea if you're trying to not activate the products until you need it!

Anyone kind enough to send me a redemption code if you don't have any use for it? :P

    • +1

turns out you CAN blame a man for trying…

  • Does it work with mnstu.catholic.edu.au e-mail addresses?

I know what it says but just asking in case, as we are in NSW.

    • No, it's part of the agreement between DoE and Adobe. Only public schools

      • Darn it :/ thanks

    http://onthehub.com/search/
You can check to see if your uni/school has offers.

    • Hmm… I don't see the Professional Academy of Bargaining on there :|

  • It's a "desktop download" version, so some things are not included which are with the paid creative cloud subscription. For example, Adobe Portfolio is an additional $9.90 per month, whereas with all other creative cloud accounts it's included.

It is hard to find online info for the specific exclusions on the student version…. I had to learn by trial and error what was included and what wasn't.

  • Nice! This is how you [almost] kill piracy. Offer stuff for free (legitimately) to the people who are least likely to pay for it. They'll me more than happy to pay for it down the line if they decide to want to use the software professionally.

  • Process was pretty painless !
    Thanks OP

    Edit:
Just to confirm - You have to be signed in to Adobe Creative Cloud app ALL the time to use the software you want ???

  • Is there anyone that has access to this that doesn't need it and would be happy to give it to me? It'd be highly appreciated!! :)

  • Thanks OP! I'd previously been paying $15 per month for this, for my daughter (academic price).

My daughter has an education.nsw.gov.au email address and that worked fine.

Dunno why schools don't point out that they have this deal. Some even recommend buying it yourself because they're unaware!

      Happy to have helped! :D

  • Huge thanks OP. Saved me 25 a month and I passed the info onto my sons DE school who knew nothing about it. The deal has now been shared with the staff and passed onto all families. cheers!!

    • Happy to help! You can also get office and stuff on it too, if you didn't notice :)
