I could do with more amex cards!!

    • you have 9 Amex cards?

      • +1

I thought all ozbargainers have at least 5? Professionals!!

        I think I saw someone has 16

        • Wow, I have only 1 :(

        • +2

@Friendly Troll: Not doing it right.

        • Out of interest, with the November small shop, do you go to 10 shops 9 times each or pretend you just want 'one more item' or be open about wanting to split the payment.

My dentist had the "small shop" notices advertising AMEX, but didn't want to split my payment across 3 cards. That said, other places I've only done one purchase, one card at a time.

I also understand from a small shop owner that AMEX charge extra (min $3 or 4 - can't remember) for purchases over $20 during small shop period to cover the costs, so the small business actually gets screwed over a bit more than usual. On the flip side, they are seeing increased foot traffic and purchases from ozbargainers.

        • +3

          @973728:
Sorry the last part is rubbish . My shop is part of the small shop list and we are not putting out anything . Two other shops I know also are not putting anything out for this Amex promotion

        • @unfunkable: so there is no extra cost for the businesses? If not, that's good to hear.

        • @The Champagne Mile:
I'm 99.9% sure there is no cost .

Edit: I'm referring to the small shop spend $20 get $10 back . Thought I was in that deal thread :-)

        • @973728: I did this recently with my dentist as well, and was open about splitting payment between cards and why. They were okay with it, but set an arbitrary limit of 3 credit cards per bill only. I thought it was fair enough.

    • Those of you working for The Man, check if your employer will match your donations!

    • +1

not bad, around $70 for a $540 donation.
a little bit less if you collect points.

  • This is awesome

  • +1

Man, I need to get an AMEX to get in on these deals…..

    • +1

Qantas Discovery. Reward points. No annual fee. Bonus points on sign up. Look for the referral wiki on here.

      • Thanks! I'll check it out

    • +1

I'd check out the Platinum edge too, it is a $195 annual fee, but you do get $200 travel credit each year through referral links. Check out the AMEX referral wiki

      • I did see that actually whilst trawling through the Wiki.

Also saw it on the webpage with the free flight each year, but the $200 credit is more appealing, IMO.

Should note that this offer is not available to Amex Corporate Credit Card holders :(

*The following are not Eligible Cards: business cards that are affiliated with a wholesaler partner, American Express Business Travel Accounts, Government Cards, Corporate Cards and the David Jones Store card.

    • Have you tried? Donate and see? If it doesnt work think of it as a good will donation!!

      *I bet it will work

      https://www.oxfam.org.au/my/donate/general-fund/

      • The Terms state corporate cards are not eligible. Also, enrollment should fail for ineligible cards.

        • Oh ok. "Should" or "will" big difference. I dont have a card to try, if I did I would.

        • +1

@Turd: It failed. I only found this statement after already trying.

        • @Turd:
Yep, big difference. I'll quote from the Full Offer Terms instead ;)

Not all Cards are eligible for this offer. If your Card is ineligible, you will receive an error message and you will not be able to register for the offer.

        • @dogboy: Cool cool! Good work!

  • So this is strictly online only?

    • Yes. Go see small shop if you want local.

Buy a donation to oxfam and help get goats now!!

House.com.au and Robinskitchen.com.au are the essentially the same site …

    • +1

Good isnt it?? Twice the value!

    • They are. They "share" same head office address.

      Head Office
      Level 2/425 St Kilda Road
      Melbourne VIC 3004
      Tel: 1300 136 936
      Hours: 8:30am - 5pm Mon-Fri (AEDST)

Contact email addresses are different. Their server seems to be in Wickham (Western Australia).
      Email: [email protected]
      Email: [email protected]

      • I used to work a few doors up from them - every year they would have a sale with a stack of (sometimes quite random) stuff in the basement/car park going cheap. Good times…

  • Does Sony sell gift card that can be redeemed in PS Store? Can't seem to find it…

  • anybody tried cue giftcards from their site?

    • Works.

      But you need to buy $50 + a $10 item or $50 + $20 card. No $60 card.

      • +4

        or 3 x $20 cards :)

  • +1

Purchased wine from Cracka using cashrewards at 5.6% return then used BARGAINAVENUE10 which gave $10 off and now hopefully will get the $30.

  • thanks for sharing

  • I always wanted one of those Galileo thermometers $59.99 from Australian Geographic. Had to purchase a mug with periodic table (handy for trivial pursuit) so that the 15% they give for signing up kept it over $60.

    • +1

I got one of those from kmart for $7.. exactly the sane thing.

      • +1

Well I wish I hadn't read that. Mine was made by Galileo and signed by him. Or it will be.

  • Anyone know if gift-cards will work for certain with this deal such as those offered by House?

  • A few good wraps here already to Qantas discovery card here. Just wondering how does it fare with velocity escape…. The only diff I reckon is the airline and some say velocity points are a bit more valuable than QFF? Cheers

  • +4

Got all my cashbacks! All $900 worth! My amex statement is crazy this month! Small shop, online retail, Harvey Norman, Hilton, langham. Omg!!!

    • What was worth buying for $900? Anything generic like wish giftcards?

      • +3

EVERYTHING!! It was 50% off!! Aint gonna get better than that! Unless you waiting for the housing property crash.

    • +1

I will report back at the end of Nov to see how it actually went….I am looking at around $1500 in cashbacks :)

    • +1

Just curious, did you book the accommodation to get the AMEX credit or can you buy the hotel/food vouchers at the counter and still qualify for the statement credits? For example, I am not interested in staying at Langham's but wouldn't mind buying Melba buffet voucher with the AMEX deal.

      • Vouchers, see the thread and my post and upvote!

  • Would someone mind clarifying - can you already buy from the above listed retailers and get the $30 rebate with AMEX, but the actual Click Frenzy doesn't start until 15 Nov 7pm. i.e. don't need to wait until 15-Nov to purchase from above retailers.

    • +1

      YES!!! That's the beauty!!

      • thanks turd.

  • +7

Bought from Under Armour and also got the $10 small shop credit as well.

    • Wow $40 back from Amex. That's brilliant thanks for sharing!

    • Is this for Under Armour online?

      • +3

        Yup their online site.

Got another email from Amex saying I will get a $20 credit (as my birthday is coming up) once i spend $20 or more on my card on anything by 31 Dec 16.

        Gotta love Amex !

        • +1

Awesome thanks. Didn't know their online shop is also under the Shop Small promo! Double bonus

        • +1

          I got this too!
Never knew AMEX had birthday stuff too. Could it be targeted only for those with Dec birthdays..?

        • I got the free $20 too!

    • just purchased and got both confirmation emails, cheers :D

  • Can you split online HOUSE payments between 2 or more AMEX's eg buy $120 and use 2xAmex?

    • +1

      No.

      • Cheers :(

        • +2

Buy 75 gift card and use card and cc next purchase

        • @Turd:

Ahh, cheers again. So can split methods part cc part gc.

No matter, just looking at getting my $30 a few times. Just means gift cards sit in drawer for specials in store :)…and hope DS doesn't happen.

  • Anybody know the best way to go about cracka wines?
I'm waiting them to respond for my request to buy $200 voucher over 3 cards ($60,$60,$80) over the phone. They only sell 50/100/200 e-giftcards on the net.

  • +5

Oh and another tax deductible one
    https://opera.org.au/buytickets/donate

    • Nice find! I already purchased $600 of gift vouchers from there already

      • Which operas do you intend to attend?

        • Not sure.. thinking Tosca, or Madame butterfly? Have to book early to get good seats.. Will do a booking this week I think.

If I had more amex's Id get the fireworks pacakge, but that's $2000. Need another 10 Amex's to solve that problem LOL!

    • Did the Opera donation trigger the AmEx email?

      • can confirm amex thank you email

  • +4

Australian geographic - tax deductible as well

    http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/society/donate/2013/1…

    • That solves all 3 donations then :-)

edit: that goes to a different domain , has anybody tried it?

    • Were you sent the "Thank you" confirmation email for this?

      • I think nat geo isnt part of it because the donations is through a 3rd party.

        • "All online donations go directly to the the Australian Geographic Society via Every Day Hero's online donation portal. Australian Geographic Society ABN: 65 811 760 355"

          That's probably it.

          Email from Oxfam was instant.

    • Was amex offer triggered?

  • +2

A heads up that Cue and Veronika Maine are both offering free shipping for all purchases for the month of November - so this makes some of the sale items around $60 attractive. As someone mentioned further up the thread, you can also purchase 3 x $20 giftcards on both sites to use in future.

  • is it worth waiting for tomorrow's click frenzy if i'm planning to purchase from adrenaline?

  • Good deal buying House gc with $30 rebate and extra $10 small business rebate.

    • You do not get $10 small business rebate from House. You only received $30 rebate. I purchased something from house last week with over $60 spent, I only received $30 rebate from Amex

      • They fixed the double up then.

        • +2

House DID NOT participate in Shop Small. House only participate in "Click Frenzy".

  • Anyone tried opera gift cards ? Did it trigger Amex frenzy ?

    • yes 10 times

      • ha ha ha awesome…

      • I did 7 cards.. but got only 6 confirmation email

        • I need another 10 cards…

Really wanna go to the opera and fireworks on nye. package is total $1504. :( Ive currently got $600 in gift cards only.

        • @Turd:

I have 5 cards. Pay me $10 for each card and you can buy more opera. Makes it $40 per $60. Pm if keen :)

  • +1

has anyone tried buying platypus gift cards?

    • +1

Yes. Amex confirmation email came through immediately after purchase as well.

    • +1

      Yes, it works.

Bought a gift card $60 with one card.

Used that to buy $130 shoes, with the remaining 70$ paid with another amex card.

      130-30-30=70.

Best to combine it with the AMEX offer, but make sure the total is above $60 per card!!!
