New Xbox 360S $199 with Xbox 360 Elite 120GB Trade in at GAME

40

Hey every bargain hunter out there.
It’s my first post. Please be nice =]

The title speaks for itself =]

$199 for the New Xbox 360 S when you Trade in your 120GB Xbox 360 Elite.

It doesn't appear to be on their website YET.

I went into Game store at Knox City, Wantirna, VIC
I was there to grab some bargains.
I ended up getting 3 games to trade in for Red Dead Redemption at JB
& a dual battery pack for 360 controllers.
I also preordered the new 360 s

Anyway, they have things on their screens and one of them was a Trade In Deal

The reason this is bargain… it depends on WHAT YOU THINK

But think about it.
If you have an old elite, it’s your chance to upgrade =]

OR grab an Elite from JB for $249($229 from dicksmith)
you get two games Halo:ODST & Forza 3
and you pay $199 for the new console.

Total of $448 and you have TWO decent games =]

Better than paying $449 for just the console itself.
JB would bring out the new 360s with a free game & HDMI cable

If you have an old elite, it’s your chance =]

I was gonna be bored till the new 360s comes out.
So I got myself an Elite from JB which has the same birthday as me LOL

It'll keep me entertained for the next 10 days.

Cheers

  • Just wondering…
How they deal with the traded-in consoles?

    • I wouldn't know…
My guess is that they sell it as pre-owned and/or send them to MS to recycle some of the parts?

      It's only my guess

  • Sometmes its good to read the guides before you post, seems like a good deal props for the post :)

"If you are a new user, don't write “please be gentle, I'm a new user”. There will be a symbol under your bargain to indicate it is your first post. "

    • Thanks Mikinoz,
I thought I've been reading enough posts that I knew the guidelines.
I only meant be nice as in "please do not be so negative" lol
      I just read it.
      Cheers

      • No worries and keep those bargains coming :)

Already done this today and posted on WP. DAMN, could have had an OzBargain post instead :P

It's an obvious +ve from me. And I was thinking the exact same thing about the 2 games.

Also, it gives you the opportunity to transfer your old Elite if your store has a Transfer cable available.

Why would I trade in my xbox for another xbox? Why not buy an xbox for $230 as save your other $200. It's the same machine, bar the wifi. Just use a wireless router for $30, and your good to go. Don't know, maybe its just me.

    • I thought the same until I read this

      http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/06/the-improved-specs-of-the-…

That's why I said it's a bargain depending on what you think.

You might just wanna stick with the older model. You might want to upgrade because you want a new controller, more quiet gaming area. Especially when you watch a movie.

If you have the first elite, it's not a bad idea to upgrade

The noise is 50% less, it uses less electricity.

    • some reasons

      1) Supposedly quieter
      2) More storage (Im using about 100GB of my 120GB drive atm)
      3) Built in WiFi
      4) Uses less power

The sum of those to many may be worth $200 to some, that and they may like the new look.

  • What If I trade in my PS3 80GB?

    • -1

Is that the original with ps2 backwards compatibility? If so then you can probably sell it for a bucket-load.

      • Unfortunately, no. I think that was the older 60GB model.

  • This is really interesting. I'm seriously considering this. I have a Falcon chip in my Elite, but has already been repaired from RROD once (by Microsoft under warranty).
Anyone got any more information? Do you trade in just the console or hard drive & controller too? What do you get?

If you're not sure what chip you have then check this site:

    • They want your
      Console
      Controller
      Cables (AV, Power)
      HDD

      • I guess you'd have to back up all your save files? And your XBL account?

        • if the store has data transfer facility (give them a call before trade in)
they should be able to transfer the data no problem

If I get the next console, it'll be my 4th 360.
          I've never transferred data lol
Anyway, now you can transfer the data from you old model -> USB memory stick -> new model

It shouldn't be a problem to transfer all the save files.

Your Live will be saved on Live. So if you retrieve your account on to your new console
All your game score will be there.

They are two different things. XBL & your saved data

          • @kazines: Hmm cool thanks, I guess I could transfer it to a USB then.
$199 isn't a terrible price to pay for a quieter, RROD-proof (hopefully) new console. And you get wireless and Kinect.
I wonder if EB will do something similar?

I heard rumors that the 360 slim had RROD's in the first week … has anyone got evidence that they're RROD-proof?? I'd say it's just as bad as previous models

    • What? It's not even out yet.

    • They don't have red ring lights (MS has removed them) so they technically can't get a RROD. They haven't been widely released yet so there's no way anyone can comment with authority about reliability one way or the other.

    • Technically, It can't get RRODs anymore.
