James Squire 150 Lashes Pale Ale 24x 345mL $42 @ First Choice Liquor [Online]

890
5EUF33DQ

Delicious sessional beer. $10 cheaper than Dan Murphy's.

A familiar style that Australian beer drinkers will recognise. Malted wheat adds to its refreshing character delivering a beer with a fruity nose and slight hints of passionfruit, grapefruit and citrus.

  • Brewed in bloody 'straya. Can't beat that!
  • Could be combined with the Amex Offer. 4 slabs, 4 transactions, $168 spent, $30 cash back. $34.50 per slab. However, FCL are getting suspicious multiple orders may be cancelled..
  • Click & Collect or $9.95 delivery fee.

WORKS FOR THE WHOLE SQUIRES RANGE!
Actually takes $10 off the total order of Squires.
So if you have 1 carton of ANY Squires beverage, it will take off $10; if you have two it will take of $5 from each; etc.

    • +5

The coupon is $10 off any order over $50. I just chose James Squires because it's a good beer and it is on special at FCL.

      • Thanks for posting the code really appreciate it .

    • +1

WORKS FOR THE DOLE TOO SQUIRE!
      *Just don't operate heavy machinery

  • +2

Cheapest option if you want delivery would be 3 cases with $6.95 delivery. Works out to be $41/case with the Amex offer. Still not bad for some good beers.

  • +2

I used my coupon for the Aberlour 12yo. $45 after coupon. I actually repeated the process a few times and they continued to honor the $10 of orders over $50.

    Site is sloooooow.

  • Good deal, but if you use First Choice for the Flybuys/Velocity Status Credits, be aware that First Choice Online won't give you SCs, only in store purchases count.

    • SCs = store credits?

      • Status Credits

  • Use by dates?

    • +7

Does it really matter? It won't last the weekend in my case.

    • $52 is the FCL price without coupon. $51.95 is Dan Murphys's price at the moment, down from $55. I doubt they are short dated, the price isn't that good.

  • +4

got the amex email - 4 slabs, 4 transactions, $168 spent, $30 cash back. $34.50 per slab.

    • Picked up all 4 cartons within an hour of order, currently sipping on a nice cold one

    • Best deal!

  • Am I the only one who thinks that 150 lashes has gone downhill in recent times?

Used to be one of my go to beers, but I don't even bother with it anymore.

Still a good price for it though.

    • i think it's supposed to be like that… i drink a beer for a couple of years, then I move on.

It's not bad for a non - craft beer, good for summer.

    • +8

Could it be that you're drinking more good beer and this tastes increasingly average by comparison? It's a very average beer IMO.

      • You make a good point dazweeja. This was probably one of my first hoppy beers.

        • I first tried their hop thief which was good and was like an light-american ipa, then I tried 150 lashes and it was like soda water in comparison. I know it's a pale ale, but still.

Also if people shop at Woolworths they sometimes give you James sq variety vouchers for bws $42 slab

      • Probably this

    • Agree, most Squire beers have, and the competition has gotten a lot better too. Hop Thief is still okay though. They're worth getting if they're on special at Dan's or on deals like this.

    • Agreed. Similar to how fat yak tastes different now too.

Check your fly buys accounts as I have a 2000 point offer for click and collect orders over $50 at first choice liquor

  • Expiry on my welcome email say 30/12/2016

    • Merry Xmas! Hopefully you will not remember a thing!

    I prefer Coopers Green
So a slab of that plus a bottle of that Shiraz that won an award for best value wine under $20.
    https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/Red%20Wine/cleanskin-bi…
Total is $40 after adding the code.

    • +2

Coopers PA is my favourite beer.

      • +2

I'm a Coopers drinker too, but my preference goes Vintage -> Red -> Green -> Home Brew

        • You need to make/try better homebrew ;)

        • @SBOB:

I have nowhere to do it ie no garage, yard. so if bottles explode inside? Or am I too paranoid?

        • @johndemonik:

If you have exploding bottles you're doing it very poorly..

        • @SBOB:

I've never tried brewing, I would have to do it in my apartment though hence the trepidation or ignorance.

  • Thanks.

Thanks OP! Grabbed 2 cartons of Squire Golden Ale, and 2 bottles of Talisker. Separate checkouts with click & collect.

    Usual price: $248
    With codes: $208
    With Amex offer: $178

    Merry Christmas.

  • So the amex offer works for a combined total over X number of transactions?
Or does it have to be one transaction over $150?

    • +3

You can do it over multiple transactions.

Save the offer to your Card and spend $150 or more, in one or more transactions, in-store or online at First Choice Liquor by 24/12/2016 to receive one $30 credit.

  • +2

Thanks sween64. Bought a slab of Chancer Golden Ale for $42 pickup.

  • I think the code doesnt work anymore, cart is showing 198 for 4 cases, after coupon applied, which is still cheap. But not 42 anymore Tried updating cart nothing happens. Hope Im doing something wrong

    • Just tried for one case of beer, came to 42. Looks like it only works for 1 case for me. Whenever I order more they apply the normal price to the rest of the order.

      • It's $10 per transaction.

        • Oh right. Thanks

  • Has anyone tried the Thunder Road IPA at 1st Choice? $50 down to $40 with voucher. https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/Beer/thunder-road-ipa-b…

I wonder if they have the Squires Porter in stock. Never been able to find it at bws/DM https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/Beer/james-squire-jack-…

Tossing up this or the trusty coopers sparkling ale for $40

    • +1

I got a carton of the thunder road and a carton of coopers red.
for $40 both of them are very good value.
But if you been drinking good IPA's you might get a little disappointed with the thunder road ( not bad just not the same )
Still better than any lager IMO, and I am happy with my purchases.

      • Sounds good, Ordered it. How do you compare it to Dundee IPA if you've tried? It's another average/goodish IPA at a cheap price $50 at DM, but now its not in stock. Picked up some Ballast Point sculpins on special a few weeks back, nothing has compared to them so far, so im prepared for ordinary ipa with the price tag.

Now I feel like a beer damnit.

        • Also James Squire Jack of Spades Porter $42 Ordered!

Giving two new beers a try over xmas, excited.

        • How did you come up with $42 for the porter? It's $62 before discount.

        • @toughen:Showing $52 before discount for me in Victoria.

        • @Triple J:

Me too $52 in Vic. Furthermore, I reckon its worth checking the best before on these Porters. I have not been able to find them in any BWS, DM, and only some select stores in victoria, So I just hope they are new stock and not from earlier in the year?

        • Lucky for you guys. $62 in WA

        • I haven't tried the Dundee IPA but have been aiming to for a while. For IPA's I like the sleeping giant (gage roads) for the price. Sierra Nevada, Feral hop hog and pirate life are my favorites with pirate life topping the list.
Also I just bought a case of feral sly fox at DM for $40. I reckon that's a good price for a very decent beer.
          https://m.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_776666/feral-sly-fox-…

  • Thanks grabbed

    $54 Cooper's Red
    $76 Matso's Mango Beer
    $52 James Squire Swindler

After codes totaled $152, after amex offer $122, pretty good..

    • How will you pick up the order, go in and say you've got three seperate orders? They usually cancel the voucher after a few days when they know people have been using it multiple times, so i'm curious what they'll do in store with multiples, before i buy two slabs with the vouchers.

      • They have tonnes of click and collect due to the time of year, I think this one will slip through the cracks for a while.

      • Would they really make you pay an extra $10 to pick up your orders? It's already been paid for, surely they'll let you take it.

      • No problem picking it up, maybe it was just the fully james squire orders that were cancelled as they were discounted already??

    • +1

      $54 Cooper's Red

could have been $40 via price-match with voucher :)

  • +1

Three of my four orders have been cancelled, due to invalid use of a promotional code. Please update OP, seems they will only allow one code use for one transaction.

    Dear xxxxx

Unfortunately due to invalid use of a promotional code, we have had to cancel and refund your order/s for the amount of $166.00. Please allow 2 working days for the funds to be returned to your credit card.

    Cancelled orders: xxxxxx, xxxxxx, xxxxxx.

    Available order: xxxxxx

If you have any further enquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us.

    • I got this email and had only made a single order.

      • The question is, where does the promo code originate? Is it someones sign up code? I applied the last promo code from OZB, and the next day i got a signing up email for $10 off with the same promo code i used the day before from OZB.

  • Seems to have expired now… No longer working for me.

  • Promotion Code 5EUF33DQ is invalid.

    Anyone else getting this error?

  • same, expired

  • +1

Any Beer from Feral is beaut!

  • They screwed up the 5EUF33DQ code by not saying it was limited to one order per person. Rather than honouring the code online now, they have just scrapped it entirely. I did speak to a live chat person on the website who said that if you did genuinely sign up to the top drops email and got the voucher, they will honour the $10 off if you call up and place an order over the phone. Still a pi$$ poor performance from a company that should know better.
