Cheapest place otherwise right now you would be paying about 12 bucks.
Currently rated 96 out of 100 on metacritic, won numerous GotY awards.

Hence why get it before everybody knows about! I've got my copy already, took me about 3 minutes in total from logging in to getting game in my library.

Looks like you can also Purchase as a Gift (for $0.00) and give it to a friend with an existing Origin ID
My Christmas shopping just got sorted.
If I absolutely had to choose, i'd pick the first one as my favourite.. but 2 is a fantastic game, as is 3. A series that everyone should play through at some stage!
Now if only they'd bundle all of the DLC…

Some average DLC that's only worth it 'cause it's free, imo. Still nice to have as it was paid DLC when ME2 came out
I just checked, and i already have ME2 Digital Deluxe on Origin. These times you buy games in the past and then completely forget that you have it.

Downloadable Content. Extra missions, appearance kits, etc.
Or when they package up and sell to you big chunks of the game that they cut from the finished product, not looking at you Bandai Namco.
This game is fantastic, the best in the series.. just make sure to either watch a youtube video of the ME1 plot and download a mass effect 1 save according to your choices (as they carry over and have some impact in this game), or use that Dark Horse comic thing… personally I wouldn't recommend playing ME1, it's too clunky.
I really liked the story in ME1, but the gameplay difference is huge - it's no fun going back to ME1 after playing the sequel.
From memory, the intro to ME2 has a nice little summary and gives you the opportunity to make a bunch of the same choices from the first game - so there's no real need to hunt down a save file.
Plus we all know how the trilogy ends, and how little your choices actually matter in the end…
My memory is really vague on these two but I think I liked ME1 better. Clunky, yeah probably (can't remember), but I think the story was so much better where as in ME2 it felt really thin. I'm not sure if I ended up finishing ME2 to be honest. I haven't played ME3 so no comment there.
ME1's story had by far the most direction, purpose, and felt the most flushed out. It also built the foundation for the Mass Effect universe, so I feel that not playing it would be a complete disservice to the series. Obviously if 2 is free then I can understand some people might not want to purchase it, but it really is a brilliant game, and probably my favourite of the three.

The decisions that you make in 1 will carry over to 2, it definitely adds to they enjoyment in my opinion. Although, going from 1 to 2 doesn't have that many decisions that carry over compared to 2 to 3. I can confidently say that you shouldn't skip 2 and go to 3 because there's just a buttload of decisions that carry over, but from 1 to 2 it isn't a big deal.
But if you are just concerned about the story then you don't need to play the first to get caught up.

I think you could have logged on from your iDevice and got it that way.
For those who didn't get it, people say that it might have been released early as an error and that it'll come back for free later on.
Failing that, there are still 4 more days of freebies.
