591

Flash sale on GearBest. US $15.49 (~AU $21.40) with Free shipping to Australia.

Very good price for these, US $1.50 drop from the last deal. I got a pair of these in October's deal and very happy with them.

Note that the volume control function can not be used on the iOS devices (work perfectly fine though).

Video Review - thanks Clear.

Note: US $15.49 (~AU $21.40), however paying in $AU on the site works out cheaper, currently showing AU $20.71

Yes these are really good for the price. Going to order another pair in case the ones from the October deal die early.

    • +1

Better order 2 more pairs in case the second pair die as well. :)

FWIW, mine haven't failed since April.

  • I'm listening to my new 5's (HD Pro), get these IMO unless you want to tinker and swap tips for possibly better imaging and treble.

    • Whats 5`s are you talking about?

        • Are they definitely an upgrade? Can't find much info on them. I think they may be the same product.

        • @tren:
Sorry for the bum-steer, I was suggesting getting "these" being the 4's listed for sale here.

        • @tren: Easiest way to tell the models apart is how the black bit connects into the silver headphone bit. On the 4's the black bit kinda wraps around the silver bit. On the 5's the black bit goes straight into the silver bit. Sorry if I explained that poorly, check the different pictures.

        • @Alzori: Ah, so there is a difference. I purchased an IV when it first came out and didn't like the sound of it, much preferred the Piston 3.

        • +1

@tren: Indeed. If that's the case my guess is the 5 would be worse for you.

From what I've read, I understand that the 4 has two drivers in each earphone, while the 5 has three drivers. Also the 3 was built with a very flat or "natural" sound signature, whereas I think the 4 and moreso the 5 have gone back to a V shaped sound signature (stronger bass and stronger highs) similar to what the 2 had.

I lost my set of Piston 3's and I'm currently wary of getting the 4 or 5… I like my flat sound signature.

        • @tren: comment below by @Autonomic suggests not much difference in sound quality between 4 and 5

    • So… get the 5's, right? And not the ones on the deal?

  • Are the cheapies on ebay knock offs? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291964152816

    • +4

Terrible, terrible knock-offs. Better sound coming from $2 pair from the Reject shop that your cheapo aunt got you for Christmas.

      • Got https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/283504 Seems ok.

Might get one of these as well, see how they compare.

        • +1

These are pretty good. I have these and the Mi IV Hybrids and it's not obvious which one is better. The basics seem to have more clarity and the hybrids more bass.

        • @Autonomic:

Clarity is good for me, listening to a speaking voice mainly.

damn my earphone just stopped working today and i was looking to buy one, thanks op

  • are these comfortable? feel like theyd fall out

    • i had previous model it was fine

    • comfortable, but too big to wear when sleep, better than Apple one which is too small for my big ears.

    • Comfortable for normal use yeah, don't fall out.

  • I'd withhold from buying these earphones. Not only from Gearbest but from any Chinese company. See this thread. A bunch of us ordered the same item. It has been close to 2 months and we still haven't received the earphones. One person has received them yesterday but that's pushing it close to 7 weeks. I've yet to see mine.

Pretty sure it's not a problem on their end. For some reason, customs is withholding them for longer than usual (or they've lost them).

    • Gearbest was banned from Ozbargain before. I usually order from Banggoods or Everbuying, and get my items in 2-4week sent to Sydney. All the Chinese store will never give refunds if there are any problems so best to pay by credit card/PayPal incase of a dispute.

Yeah still waiting for mine after payment cleared 05-Nov

I'm giving neg vote just because gearbest is so shitty

      • Won't neg it but i'm also still waiting for mine from November.
Part of kid's Xmas present so not ideal.
However, the blame could well be the postage system.
Within a couple of days it was marked as dispatched and the website actually has a picture if the envelope with my address details on it.
So i'm assuming that Gearbest have done their bit and it's just the Chinese postal service that's slow.

        • I finally received mine today after purchasing on the 5th nov. Def a long wait but that's the price we pay for a bargain sometimes

      • I bought several items from different sellers during singles day ( 11/11/16).

Zapals, Gearbest, Everbuying and Banggood. The only one I haven't received yet is from Zapals :-S.

Gearbest has been consistent arriving within 1 month (except for 1 item which arrived in 3 months)

Thanks for the thread link. I'm also waiting on things from AliExpress 11/11, Lightinthebox 21/11 & GearBest 22/11. I figured something was going on with the postage here as usually they are here by now and usually items from all those companies are received in a few weeks recently. I put it down to that time of the year when everything takes longer than it should.

      • No worries. Received mine today (after forever). Shipping's close to 6 weeks. Have yet to receive the pair I ordered from Everbuying. From the tracking given by GB, it showed that it arrived in Australia on the 3rd of December. Have no idea why it would take 3 weeks to process. The package wasn't tampered with.

    • I purchased a pair through eBay which shipped from China (emobilehome was the seller) on the 5th Nov and they arrived on the 16th. So it's not a blanket ban on all Chinese companies.

  • Thanks OP, I've popped an order through.

Got a pair of these last time. To be honest I was pretty disappointed with the sound. Treble and midrange are pretty average in favour of bass.

Compared to these I got prior :

bassgood or bassbad? I want to know how much thumpin i can inject into my lobes

    • it's a bassgood from me

    • For the price they have a surprisingly good amount of bass.

  • I mentioned this the last time a deal on these came up and several others mentioned they had found the same things…
These earbuds have great sound quality, especially for this really good price. However, I've found that the cord gets fairly bent/curled up after a while if you don't leave them stretched out when not in use. Also, they have sort of a nylon covering on the lower half of the cord - annoyingly this has split is several places on mine and the rubber tube containing the wires has popped out. The rubber tube itself has not split so they still work 100% fine. My mate's pair did fray at the base and stopped working after a month or two, mine have lasted longer. Just a few things to note

  • Just bought one, let see how long it takes to arrive.

    • I hope the shipping company and Australia custom will keep working during Christmas and New Year……………………….

  • ordered 4 Nov and still not arrived, gee that is nearly two months

    • Hi mistericho,

Could you pls pm me your order number for checking?

  • Just got mine today! All good, thanks OP (:

  • Just got mine today too. Fast delivery!

  • Ordered 2x of these and the package arrived yesterday.
Opened it and only found 1x pair of these in the package!
Asked Gearbest support about it and was given a response with my tracking details…did not even answer my question as to why I've been charged for 2 and only received 1.
