Long time Ozbargainer, first time poster

Decided to get myself some eneloops after seeing all the eneloop rave here. Trust me, before Ozbargain I thought energizer/duracell were the best bet. As I was looking for a bargain stumbled on the 50% off deal @ Bing Lee.

You can get a Smart charger + 4 AA + 4 AAA for $42 (again thanks to Ozbargain, wasn't even aware of a smart charger before)

It is a bargain only if you can pick it up from the store though, the delivery fee sucks ($9 for each item).

The fine print

  • out of stock

  • Anymore AAA pro left in Sydney stores?

  • Rhodes Bing Lee has only chargers left, both dumb and smart (which come with 4 AA). A fair few of them as of yesterday afternoon.

  • Haymarket store says they're waiting for stock before they can fulfil the order.

I wonder if they are ever actually going to deliver on this…

    cheaper at Costco per here

Yes and no. The "Basic Charger" in the Costco deal is a dumb charger, not recommended if you can get hold of a smart charger instead. If you don't use the charger, the same number of batteries is $37.50 at Bing Lee, versus $39.99 at Costco.

If you don't live near a Bing Lee, and do live near a Costco, the Costco deal is a bargain. Bing Lee's shipping fees are quite high, better to purchase in-store at Costco. But please do get a smart charger, keep the "Basic Charger" in its wrapping and don't ever use it. Perhaps sell it on Ebay for a few dollars.

  • This may be a stupid question, but I cant seem to add the batteries to cart?

  • I was just at Bing Lee Hurstville, they still have 5 packs of 4x AAs and half a dozen or so of the basic chargers with 4 AAs left for anyone interested. Didn't see any of the Eneloop Pro.

  • Still haven't received notification for my order…

Same here. Received the usual confirmation immediately after ordering but haven't been advised that my order is ready to pick up.

According to their website it can take up to 14 business days.

same here.. Ironically I was the one who posted this deal :/. Was just too lazy to travel to a Binglee in the holidays and was planning on collecting them from city when I go back to work.

Had a chat with Bing Lee and was asked to wait for a week or so for an update.

    • I'm still waiting….

      • Give them a call or reply to the original order email.

I didn't receive notification and so emailed the online team who advised the order was waiting to be collected (7 days after placing the order).

I went to collect it and they only had the charger/battery combo available but not the extra batteries I ordered.

Only picked them up today and also didn't receive a call to say they had come in.

I've now had two less than satisfactory experiences ordering online with Bing Lee in the last 12 months. Unsure if I'll give them a 3rd chance.
